1. NFL - RB DeAngelo Williams still wants to play

Source: ESPN - Adam Schefter

Free-agent RB DeAngelo Williams (Steelers) said he's waiting on a phone call from an interested team to continue his playing career.

[ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

Once someone gets hurt, he may hear his phone ring, but unless he drops into a perfect situation - which he had to an extent from a fantasy standpoint when he backed up a suspended Le'Veon Bell - his fantasy value will be a bit shaky. Age and ability are also a concern.

2. PIT - JuJu Smith-Schuster wants chemistry with QB

Source: Pittsburgh Tribune-Review - Joe Rutter

Pittsburgh Steelers WR JuJu Smith-Schuster said he is looking forward to building better chemistry with QB Ben Roethlisberger during training camp. He did receive some work with the first-team offense as a slot receiver during offseason workouts.

[ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

If he and Roethlisberger can get on the same page, we could see a lot of red zone work for Smith-Schuster. The Steelers still have Antonio Brown and Le'Veon Bell for red zone work, but could use another weapon now that Heath Miller is finally gone. Tight end Jesse James might emerge as another weapon, but Smith-Schuster is big, athletic and aggressive. We'll watch camp closely, as the former USC Trojan is currently holding a bargain basement ADP of 258 overall and 76 among wide receivers. He could have some decent value at a nice price if he can develop chemistry with his quarterback.

3. SEA - TE Nick Vannett to see more playing time?

Source: The Seattle Times - Bob Condotta

Seattle Seahawks TE Nick Vannett is expected to get 'a lot more playing time' than last season, when he was the fourth tight end and played just 84 snaps, according to the Seattle Times Bob Condotta.

[ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

He's still behind Jimmy Graham, on a team where the tight ends not named Jimmy or Graham tend to be slightly glorified blockers. He may see the field more, but that won't translate to production, NFL or Fantasy.

4. TEN - Taywan Taylor shining

Source: TitansOnline.com - Jim Wyatt

Tennessee Titans WR Taywan Taylor looks like a perfect fit for the slot receiver, according to beat writer Jim Wyatt. Taylor has already gained the trust of the quarterbacks.

[ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

He could run into some issues with all the potential talent suddenly at the Tennessee wideout position. With Corey Davis and now Eric Decker, Taylor may struggle to see targets. However if he can continue to show the quarterbacks can rely on him, we might see him emerge later in the season.

5. TEN - Corey Davis explosive

Source: TitansOnline.com - Jim Wyatt

Tennessee Titans WR Corey Davis has looked explosive with strong hands, according to beat writer Jim Wyatt.

[ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

That's good to hear about a guy who had ankle surgery to repair tendons in the offseason. When healthy he has very good route skills and physicality, as well as a high football IQ and work ethic. His ADP is currently sitting at 96 overall in early drafts and could climb as we hit training camp.

6. WAS - Samaje Perine may be limited early

Source: CSN Mid-Atlantic - Rich Tandler

Washington Redskins RB Samaje Perine could receive limited touches during the early portion of the season but has the chance to lead the team in carries during some games in November and December, in the opinion of CSN Mid-Atlantic's Rich Tandler.

[ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

He's going to have to carve out carries from the load Rob Kelley and Chris Thompson get. Kelley is the one we favor, though we still don't love him as more than an occasional start or bench depth. His ADP is currently 102, the 37th back off the board, while Chris Thompson, who serves as more of a third down back, is the 197th player overall in ADP, and the No. 63 running back off the board.

7. BAL - S Eric Weddle happy about new teammate

Source: The Baltimore Sun - Childs Walker

Baltimore Ravens SS Eric Weddle said he is happy that the team signed FS Tony Jefferson this offseason because Jefferson has a good feel for how Weddle plays. 'No disrespect to any of the guys I've played with, but it's nice not to have to explain why I do certain things or why I'm doing this in this coverage,' Weddle said. 'From day one, he already had a feel for how I play and how to work off me. ... It frees me up a lot more mentally.'

[ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

Weddle didn't consistently put up the tackle numbers in Baltimore which we had seen previously from him in San Diego. We could see more with Jefferson there, but the problem is schematic as much as anything Weddle does. He's a good depth defensive back who will occasionally put up great numbers but mostly will be no more than average.

8. TEN - Jonnu Smith stands out

Source: TitansOnline.com - Jim Wyatt

Tennessee Titans TE Jonnu Smith has lived up to his reputation as a natural catcher of the football, according to beat writer Jim Wyatt. He has worked at a number of positions and will have a chance to see some playing time early on.

[ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

He really just has a mediocre Jace Amaro ahead of him, so it's not all that impossible to believe he might have an impact. That said, Marcus Mariota has a lot of options to pass to, so we aren't expecting big numbers of any sort this season whether Smith is the first or fifty-fifth option at tight end.

9. PIT - JuJu Smith-Schuster works in goal-line packages

Source: Pittsburgh Tribune-Review - Joe Rutter

Pittsburgh Steelers WR JuJu Smith-Schuster saw work in goal-line packages with the first-team offense during organized team activities. He also saw extensive work with the Juggs machine after practice, and by his estimation, he caught 240 passes. He caught them in sets of 20 from distances far away to up close and practically right in front of the machine. It was a way of toughening his hands and seeing passes come at a variety of speeds.

[ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

With the retirement of Heath Miller, the Steelers could use a red zone passing option beyond Antonio Brown. A big, handsy slot receiver, Smith-Schuster could be that guy. Right now, he's not tracking very well in early drafts -- his ADP is a distant 258 overall and 76 among wide receivers -- but it's worth tracking his progress as he could be a sneaky touchdown producer and see a lot of red zone targets, making him potentially more valuable then his current status if you are in a PPR league.

10. GB - Montravius Adams signs contract

Source: Packers.com

Green Bay Packers third-round draft choice DT Montravius Adams signed his contract Wednesday, July 5. Financial terms were not disclosed.

[ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

Adams was very consistent in his senior season, and could help bring some stability to the middle of the Packers defensive line. We like the fit, though it could take a while for him to emerge as a solid and consistent producer.

11. NFL - WR Dorial Green-Beckham unclaimed

Source: ESPN - Adam Schefter

Free-agent WR Dorial Green-Beckham (Eagles) cleared waivers and is now an unrestricted free agent, according to a source.

[ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

Green-Beckham has the skill but has not been able to put the rest of it together. Even if someone gives him another chance, he probably won't walk into a situation where he is able to contribute right away. Now that he has busted out in OTAs with what is being reported as a lazy and near-effortless performance. We think it's safe to write him off as a bust.

12. WAS - Two RBs may be on bubble

Source: CSN Mid-Atlantic - Rich Tandler

Washington RBs Mack Brown and Keith Marshall may be on the roster bubble during training camp, in the opinion of CSN Mid-Atlantic's Rich Tandler. Brown could make the roster as the No. 4 running back if Washington decides to keep three tight ends.

[ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

With rookie Samaje Perine along with Rob Kelley, Chris Thompson and even Matt Jones, there's very little room left for either Brown or Marshall. Even if one of them sneaks on the roster, he won't have fantasy value.

13. ATL - CB Desmond Trufant should be ready for camp

Source: The Atlanta Journal-Constitution - D. Orlando Ledbetter

Atlanta Falcons CB Desmond Trufant (pectoral) is expected to be completely healthy by the time training camp begins.

[ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

Having Trufant might have made a difference during the Super Bowl collapse against the New England Patriots. With a new contract in hand, he will be a big part of the Falcons' attempt to make it back to the Super Bowl.

14. HOU - Houston expects improvement from D.J. Reader

Source: Houston Chronicle - Aaron Wilson

Houston Texans DT D.J. Reader is a player the Texans have high expectations for in 2017, according to defensive line coach Anthony Weaver. 'We have very high expectations of D.J.,' Weaver said. ' I think you saw just a glimpse of what he's capable of a year ago. He's another guy that since he's been back, you can tell he's, and I think I speak for the whole defense, they all have a little bit of a chip (on their shoulders).'

[ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

Reader had 22 tackles and one sack last season in the middle of one of the more talented defensive lines in the NFL. You may not know his name, because the camera and the eye drift to JJ Watt and Jadeveon Clowney. Reader could be in line for a significant increase as he replaces Vince Wilfork. He was able to perform well as both a one-technique and a five-technique and that versatility will keep him on the field in a myriad of formations.
