Our Footballguys Staff continues the series on the all important but often thankless task of serving as the league Commissioner. In this one, they have a discussion on possible rule twists.

1. PHI - WR Dorial Green-Beckham cut

Source: ESPN - Adam Schefter

Philadelphia Eagles WR Dorial Green-Beckham was waived Friday, June 30.

[ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

Green-Beckham has now been on two teams in two seasons (basically). A second-round pick of the Titans in 2015, Green-Beckham has a great size/athleticism combination at 6'5" 237 pounds. He's never put it together at the pro level. Green-Beckham had the 7th-highest drop rate (6.9 percent) of any wide receiver in 2016. Couple concentration problems with work ethic problems and you can see why the Eagles moved on from Green-Beckham after a year just like the Titans did. He should be able to latch on with another team around the start of training camp.

2. BAL - TE Gary Barnidge an option for Ravens?

Source: The Baltimore Sun - Jeff Zrebiec

Free-agent TE Gary Barnidge (Browns) could be an option for the Baltimore Ravens after the Ravens lost TE Darren Waller for the season, in the opinion of The Baltimore Sun's Jeff Zrebiec.

[ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

Barnidge is just waiting for the right opportunity. We could see him winding up with the Ravens, or a team like the Broncos. Waller wasn't going to be a big part of the passing game in Baltimore, so it's not like Barnidge is a 'must add' for the Ravens.

3. GB - QB Aaron Rodgers excited for TE group

Source: Milwaukee Journal Sentinel - Rob Reischel

Green Bay Packers QB Aaron Rodgers said the additions of TE Martellus Bennett and TE Lance Kendricks give the offense more flexibility to run two-tight end sets. 'Both guys can put their hand on the ground and go and block guys really well but also add that dimension in the passing game,' Rodgers said.

[ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

The Packers have needed to find a good 'move' tight end for quite some time. Bennett could easily be that for the team, and he's an upgrade over Jared Cook or Richard Rodgers. Bennett should be able to produce like a low-end TE1 for fantasy owners in 2017. He's going off the board at TE8 (7.09) in 12-team PPR leagues.

4. MIN - Dalvin Cook has leg up in RB competition

Source: NFL.com - Kevin Patra

Minnesota Vikings RB Dalvin Cook has an early leg up in the running back competition, according to RB Latavius Murray. 'Dalvin's already been through the organized team activities, he's already been through the offseason,' Murray said. 'So, he has that up on me.'

[ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

Murray underwent ankle surgery back in March, and he's been on the road to recovery ever since. Cook is a more dynamic player and is a threat to score anytime he touches the ball. Murray could get some short-yardage or goal-line work, but we expect Cook to win the starting job if he can stay healthy and hang onto the rock.

5. PHI - RB Ryan Mathews not on the way out?

Source: ESPN.com - Josina Anderson

Philadelphia Eagles RB Darren Sproles told ESPN's Josina Anderson Friday, June 30, that he - along with backfield mates LeGarrette Blount and Ryan Mathews - 'can share the ball and everyone can be happy.'

[ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

The Eagles are going to use a RBBC that may be difficult for fantasy owners to navigate. Blount will be the battering ram as a runner, but he'll come off the field during passing down. Sproles is the change-of-pace back for the Eagles, but rookie D.J. Pumphrey is being groomed for that role as well. That doesn't leave a lot of room for Mathews in the rotation.

6. CHI - Mitchell Trubisky endorses QB Mike Glennon

Source: ProFootballTalk.com - Charean Williams

Chicago Bears first-round QB Mitchell Trubisky threw his support behind Mike Glennon in an interview with Sirius XM NFL Radio on Friday, June 30.

[ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

Glennon is the free agent addition who got a three-year, $45 million contract from the Bears earlier this year. In 2017, Glennon will have a cap hit of $14 million and a dead cap value of $18.5 million. He's the starter until Trubisky is ready for prime time. We could see Trubisky get a 'redshirt' year during his rookie season so long as Glennon doesn't fail miserably as the team's starter.

7. DAL - RB Darren McFadden the likely backup

Source: The Dallas Morning News - David Moore

Dallas Cowboys RB Darren McFadden is expected to serve as the No. 2 running back this season, according to David Moore of the Dallas Morning News.

[ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

McFadden won't see much time with Ezekiel Elliott leading the way. With McFadden as the no2 back, Alfred Morris could be expendable. There have been reports earlier this year that indicated Morris would be traded or released.

8. CHI - WR Victor Cruz working out of slot

Source: ESPN.com - Jordan Raanan

Chicago Bears WR Victor Cruz worked mainly out of the slot during OTAs, and he said playing a position he is comfortable with helped him find a rhythm.

[ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

An interesting note here...and a wise move by the Bears. Cruz saw his best years coming out of the slot, but the Giants moved him to the outside last year. In 2016, only one of Cruz's 39 receptions came from him lining up in the slot as it was then rookie Sterling Shepard taking over inside. It will be interesting to see how the Bears use him behind Cameron Meredith, Kevin White and Kendall Wright in 2017.

9. CHI - RB Jordan Howard had eye surgery

Source: Chicago Sun-Times - Patrick Finley

Chicago Bears RB Jordan Howard (eye) underwent eye surgery in May in order to improve his eyesight.

[ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

He hopes the improved vision will help him as a pass catcher. Howard was the league's second-leading rusher in 2016, running for over 1,300 yards. He also was targeted 50 times and caught 29 of those passes for 298 yards and one receiving touchdown. Fantasy owners are taking Howard off the board at RB9 (2.04) in 12-team PPR leagues.

10. NFL - DT Roy Miller receives interest

Source: FirstCoastNews.com - Mike Kaye

Free-agent DT Roy Miller (Jaguars) said he has received interest from several teams and expects to visit with some teams in July. Miller has received clearance to practice after recovering from an Achilles' injury.

[ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

Miller is a seasoned veteran but is more of a rotational player at this point in his career. Now that he's been cleared, we're certain at least a handful of teams will be interested.

11. BAL - TE Darren Waller suspended at least one year

Source: BaltimoreRavens.com - Ryan Mink

Baltimore Ravens TE Darren Waller has been suspended for at least one year for violating the NFL's substance abuse policy for the second time in two years.

[ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

Waller will have to apply for reinstatement if he wants to continue his playing career. He wasn't going to be heavily involved with the Ravens anyway, even after Dennis Pitta's injury earlier this offseason. Ben Watson, Maxx Williams and Crockett Gillmore will compete for the targets at the tight end position for Baltimore in 2017.

12. PHI - ILB Jordan Hicks should be ready for camp

Source: Philadelphia Daily News - Les Bowen

Updating a previous report, Philadelphia Eagles LB Jordan Hicks (hand) is expected to need three to four weeks to recover from the hand injury he suffered on his honeymoon in Greece.

[ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

Hicks slipped near the pool and broke his finger. Training camp starts for the Eagles on July 27th, and the team expects Hicks to be ready at that time.

13. ARI - Budda Baker not too far behind

Source: ArizonaSports.com - Adam Green

Arizona Cardinals S Budda Baker said he doesn't feel too far behind despite his college schedule preventing him from attending OTAs. 'The first couple days I was dying, but I got acclimated to it and now it's what, it's 100 out here right now, and I'm thinking it's cool,' Baker said.

[ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

A second-round pick out of Washington this year, Baker had to sit out the offseason program due to the NFL rule requiring players to sit out until finals if their school is on a quarters system. Baker can be moved around from slot corner to roaming as a free safety, and his skill set was regularly compared to Tyrann Mathieu.

14. NYJ - WR Charone Peake to have a role

Source: New York Post - Brian Costello

New York Jets WR Charone Peake could lose the No. 3 receiver job to WR ArDarius Stewart, according to Brian Costello of the New York Post, but Costello believes Peake would still have a role as a weapon on the outside in four-receiver sets.

[ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

We've always got love for Clemson WRs in dynasty leagues, and we'll be watching Peake's development in Jets camp this year. A seventh-round pick out of Clemson in 2016, Peake is going to have to compete with Stewart that the no3 spot behind Quincy Enunwa and Robby Anderson. Stewart, a third-round pick in 2017 out of Alabama is a competitive deep-ball threat. The QB situation is frightening with the Jets, but Peake or Stewart should only be on dynasty radar in fantasy leagues.

15. HOU - DE Jadeveon Clowney healthy, loving role

Source: Houston Chronicle - John McClain

Houston Texans LB Jadeveon Clowney (ankle) said he is healthy after dealing with a sore ankle during OTAs, and he is enjoying the defensive schemes that have him lining up all over the field.

[ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

Clowney should once again wreak havoc on opposing quarterbacks this year. J.J. Watt is back healthy, and the Texans defense should give opponents nightmares on a weekly basis.

16. OAK - No extension for OLB Khalil Mack this year

Source: ESPN - Adam Schefter

Oakland Raiders LB Khalil Mack will have to wait until 2018 for a contract extension because of the extensions for QB Derek Carr and OG Gabe Jackson, according to sources.

[ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

With his fifth-year option, Mack is under the team's control for two more years. With Carr and Jackson paid, Mack is up next but he'll likely have to wait until next year to get something done.
