1. IND - QB Andrew Luck still not throwing

Source: The Indianapolis Star

Indianapolis Colts QB Andrew Luck (shoulder) told reporters Wednesday, June 28, despite the fact his rehab is going well, he still has yet to throw since his January shoulder surgery. "Feeling better and better every week," Luck said. "Still haven't started throwing. But that process will come when it's ready." When asked about the status of his rehab, he replied: "No reason to be sullen or morose! It's a beautiful day."

We're watching Luck's progress closely as he returns from this injury. His Week 1 status is not in doubt at this time but we imagine Luck will be limited through training camp and into the preseason.

2. PHI - RB LeGarrette Blount has weight clause

Source: ESPN.com - Field Yates

Philadelphia Eagles RB LeGarrette Blount can earn $50,000 if he weighs between 240-245 pounds on the team's reporting date for training camp, according to a source.

[ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

Blount is a big back and apparently the Eagles want him a little bit lighter than his listed weight of 250 pounds. The Eagles should use Blount to hammer opponents while using change-of-pace weapons like Darren Sproles or D.J. Pumphrey to attack on passing downs. Blount has a current ADP of RB25 (6.01) in 12-team PPR leagues.

3. SF - Team keeping tabs on 2018 QB class

Source: Chris Biderman - NinersWire/USA Today

Chris Biderman, from NinersWire/USA Today, notes San Francisco 49ers general manager John Lynch is keeping tabs on the 2018 quarterback class. "We understand that you have to have a big-time, franchise quarterback to have the success on a year-in and year-out basis like we want to," Lynch said on KNBR's Gary and Larry this week. "I've looked at it some, just in studying the players in (the 2018) draft, there's a quality class coming."

[ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

The 49ers don't have a franchise quarterback right now. Brian Hoyer should be their starter this year with Matt Barkley backing him up. Behind those two, rookie C.J. Beathard will try to stick on the team as a developmental prospect. We think the 49ers would jump at the chance to add someone like Kirk Cousins (Washington) if he becomes available in free agency. They will also likely be in position to select a quarterback in the 2018 NFL draft with a top-10 pick...maybe even no1 overall.

4. ARI - Retirement decision coming for QB Carson Palmer after 2017

Source: Kyle Odegard - AZCardinals.com

Kyle Odegard, from AZCardinals.com, reports Arizona Cardinals quarterback Carson Palmer is still invested in playing football. In a recent interview, Palmer revealed that he's not going to make any retirement decision until after the 2017 season. "I love every facet of it," Palmer said. "I don't want to stop. But I'll have to wait and make that decision after the season."

[ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

Palmer isn't done just yet, and 2017 may not be his final year in the league...but it does look that way right now. The Cardinals are trying to make one more run with Palmer at the helm, and they'll be in the mix for the playoffs in 2017. They need Palmer to get off to a better start than he did last year if they want to secure themselves a postseason berth.

5. BUF - Nathan Peterman to push for No. 2 QB job

Source: The Buffalo News - Vic Carucci

Buffalo Bills QB Nathan Peterman looked like a rookie during offseason workouts but is expected to compete for the No. 2 quarterback job during training camp.

[ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

We like Peterman as a prospect in deep dynasty leagues. Tyrod Taylor's future in Buffalo is not a lock, and Peterman has some developmental upside. Peterman looked good during his college career at PITT (Tennessee transfer), and there are some in the scouting community that compare his skill set to that of Kirk Cousins (Washington). He'll compete with Cardale Jones to be the backup behind Taylor in 2017.

6. BUF - Walter Powell may not make team

Source: The Buffalo News - Vic Carucci

Buffalo Bills WR Walter Powell may be a long shot to make the final roster because of his four-game suspension.

[ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

A sixth-round pick of the Cardinals in the 2014 NFL draft, Powell caught 14 passes for the Bills over nine games last year. He'd be fourth (at best) on the Bills depth chart if he makes the 53-man roster. With this suspension, the Bills don't have to decide his fate until he's eligible to return in October.

7. BUF - Jonathan Williams works on ball security

Source: The Buffalo News - Vic Carucci

Buffalo Bills RB Jonathan Williams has worked on improving his ball security this offseason after head coach Sean McDermott said it was an area Williams needed to work on. Williams lost two fumbles on 28 carries in 2016.

[ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

Williams has good dynasty potential because of his natural running style, instincts for the position and power between the tackles. He needs to hang onto the rock if he wants to get some touches as LeSean McCoy's primary backup in 2017.

8. NFL - RB Karlos Williams suspended at least one year

Source: ESPN.com - Field Yates

Free-agent RB Karlos Williams (Steelers) has been suspended for at least one year, according to a source.

[ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

The Steelers waived Williams in March and now it looks like his pro career is done. Williams flashed some talent with the Bills in 2015 but will now be remembered as a cautionary tale.

9. BUF - WR Rashad Ross hopes to be more than returner

Source: BuffaloBills.com - Chris Brown

Buffalo Bills WR Rashad Ross hopes to be more of a kick and punt returner and would like to have a role on offense. Ross has worked out with Tampa Bay Buccaneers WR DeSean Jackson and has learned how to use his speed better and run better routes.

[ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

Undrafted out of Arizona State in 2013, Ross has speed to burn. He's bounced around the league seemingly each year, and Ross has been on seven pro teams during his career. Ross needs to make the 53-man roster (he's not a lock) before worrying about a role on offense.

10. DET - Teez Tabor could be nickel back

Source: Detroit Free Press - Dave Birkett

Detroit Lions CB Teez Tabor is expected to compete for the nickel back job during training camp. Tabor said he did not play the position at Florida but is willing to line up at the position if he receives playing time.

[ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

At 6'0" 199 pounds, Tabor has the size to be disruptive at the line of scrimmage. He can quickly turn and change direction, and Tabor does a good job of knocking away incoming passes (28 PBUs over last two years for the Gators). Tabor does not have deep speed, so keeping him inside makes sense.

11. DET - Coach happy with CB Darius Slay despite lack of INTs

Source: Detroit Free Press - Dave Birkett

Detroit Lions CB Darius Slay has recorded only six interceptions in his four NFL seasons, but cornerbacks coach Tony Oden said he is not worried about the interception number as long as Slay is staying with the team's defensive scheme. Oden said he believes Slay can improve his interception skills and could have more in the future.

[ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

Slay has had two interceptions in each of the last three seasons for the Lions....so at least he's consistent. As the Lions work to get a better pass rush in 2017, the guys in the secondary should get more opportunities to make plays.

12. DAL - David Irving to miss first four games

Source: ESPNDallas.com - Todd Archer

Dallas Cowboys DE David Irving has lost his appeal and will be suspended for the first four games of the 2017 season for violating the NFL's substance-abuse policy.

[ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

Undrafted out of Iowa State in 2015, Irving was arguably the best Cowboys defensive lineman last year. At 6'7" 285 pounds, Irving is tough to deal with when rushing the passer (4.0 sacks on 452 snaps in 2016) and he's capable of helping stuff the run. The Cowboys are thin up front, and the upholding of this suspension doesn't help.

13. DET - ILB Zach Orr to visit Lions

Source: ESPNNewYork.com - Dan Graziano

Free-agent LB Zach Orr (Ravens) will visit the Detroit Lions Thursday, June 29.

[ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

That didn't take long. Orr was supposedly retired back in January after a neck problem caused him to miss the final game of 2016 with the Ravens and the injury seemed dire. He's got a new opinion from doctors about the injury, and now Baltimore's leading tackler from a year ago can sign anywhere. Reports indicate as many as eight teams have reached out to Orr so far.

14. JAX - CB Jalen Ramsey begins running

Source: Twitter

Jacksonville Jaguars CB Jalen Ramsey (groin) began running Tuesday, June 27, for the first time since groin surgery.

[ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

That's a big step in his recovery from surgery. Ramsey underwent surgery just about two weeks ago to repair a core muscle injury. Expected time to recover was six weeks which puts the second-year corner back on the field for the start of training camp. They don't do everything right in Jacksonville (see Bortles, Blake) but they've built a helluva defense and Ramsey is among the most talented on that team.
