A. Footballguys Staff Mock Draft MFL10 - Rounds 1-4
We gathered the Footballguys Staffers for a MFL10 mock draft. Here's a review of rounds 1-4. And as always with these, we know you don't care about our league. You care about your league. We get it. And we'll always do these mock drafts with the idea of providing value for YOU in YOUR league.

1. MIN - WR Michael Floyd will adjust quickly

Source: NFL.com - Max Meyer

Minnesota Vikings WR Michael Floyd won't have any issues picking up the offensive system, according to head coach Mike Zimmer.

[ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

Fantasy owners shouldn't get too excited here. Floyd did nothing with the Patriots after they picked him off the scrap heap in 2016. A fresh start is what he needed, and perhaps going back home to Minnesota will pay off for him. Floyd is trying to earn a role behind Stefon Diggs and Adam Thielen.

2. JAX - Leonard Fournette must adapt

Source: The Florida Times-Union - Ryan O'Halloran

Jacksonville Jaguars RB Leonard Fournette was more effective running behind a fullback in college, and beat writer Ryan O'Halloran believes Fournette's biggest adjustment in the NFL will be receiving carries out of the shotgun and not regularly having a fullback.

[ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

Fournette can thrive in a single-back set as he doesn't need a fullback to follow or blast open holes for him. Running from the shotgun is a different animal as defenses often have a "tell" as to where the play is going simply from the formation. Fantasy owners should see RB1 upside in the rookie from LSU, but right now you can get him at a RB2 price. Fournette has a current ADP of RB14 (3.12) in 12-team PPR leagues.

3. NE - WR Julian Edelman sticking around?

Source: Boston Herald - Karen Guregian

New England Patriots WR Julian Edelman is in the final year of his contract, but former teammate Heath Evans said he doesn't expect a contract dispute like the one that saw WR Wes Welker leave New England and sign with the Denver Broncos in free agency. 'I don't think we're going to see that with Jules,' Evans said. 'I think Jules embraces the grind-it-out-for-the-common-good mentality.'

[ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

Edelman is underpaid for a wide receiver who consistently produces at a high level. This is his age-31 season, and we expect him to be just as productive as ever since he's Tom Brady's most trusted target. If he wants to stay with the Patriots past 2017, Edelman will likely have to accept some sort of team-friendly deal.

4. OAK - QB Derek Carr to have extension by training camp?

Source: ProFootballTalk.com - Josh Alper

Oakland Raiders QB Derek Carr is confident that his agent and the Raiders will have a contract extension agreed upon before training camp begins.

[ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

This one is easy...the Raiders need to sign Carr to a big-money deal ASAP. Getting him done before training camp prevents any sort of distractions in what could be a championship run for the Silver and Black.

5. MIA - WR DeVante Parker has made adjustments

Source: The Miami Herald - Armando Salguero

Miami Dolphins WR DeVante Parker is doing the little things to prepare himself for a potential breakout season. According to sources, Parker is taking better care of his body, including eating right -- not skipping meals -- and sleeping well. He's also attacking his workouts and showing a desire to increase his knowledge of the game. Furthermore, Parker's route-running, footwork and consistency have all improved.

[ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

Parker's catches, yards and receiving touchdowns have increased each of his two years in the league...but he hasn't *quite* yet played up to his potential. Perhaps this could be the year. The offseason has been full of positive reports about Parker, so much so that it's not just offseason fluff. He's got a WR4 price tag (WR42, 9.08) but WR2 upside and potential in 12-team PPR leagues. Stay tuned, and keep tabs on his performance during training camp and the preseason.

6. WAS - RB Chris Thompson expects bigger role

Source: ESPN.com - John Keim

Washington Redskins RB Chris Thompson is expecting a bigger workload this season because he proved to head coach Jay Gruden that he was durable.

[ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

Thompson shouldn't get too excited. Washington already has Robert Kelley and rookie Samaje Perine as the lead backs on the depth chart. Those two are going to eat up most of the touches/snaps in the backfield..but mostly on rushing downs. When it comes to being the primary third-down or pass-catching back, that is all Thompson's gig.

7. ARI - WR Andre Ellington learning new role

Source: The Arizona Republic - Kent Somers

Arizona Cardinals WR Andre Ellington said the hardest part of his transition from running back to wide receiver is the change in terminology.

[ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

The terminology is one thing, and the route-running is something else. Ellington was a hyper-fast/quick player as a running back, and at his new position we anticipate the team will set him up with short throws he could potentially turn into long gains. What kind of fantasy value Ellington has at wide receiver remains to be seen.

8. PIT - Joshua Dobbs signs contract

Source: Twitter

Pittsburgh Steelers QB Joshua Dobbs signed his four-year rookie contract Monday, May 22. Financial terms were not disclosed.

[ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

Dobbs is going to be groomed as a potential quarterback of the future for the Steelers. He's incredibly bright, athletic enough to keep plays alive with his feet and has the arm to make every throw in the NFL. However, Dobbs needs to do a better job with making quick decisions and accurate passes. Too often in college at Tennessee, Dobbs would lock onto his predetermined read before the snap and fail to adjust as defenses disguised coverages.

9. NFL - RB Reggie Bush still wants to play

Source: NFL.com - Kevin Patra

Free-agent RB Reggie Bush (Bills) believes he has a lot left to prove in the NFL and wants to continue his playing career. Bush added that he's still working out, staying in shape and looking forward to playing football 'this season.'

[ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

Last year was a bad season for the veteran back. He only carried the ball 12 times for minus-3 yards with the Bills. His last 1,000 yard season was in 2013, and Bush simply isn't the player he used to be. Bush has spoken to a few prospective teams, but he's going to be patient and make sure he makes the right decision.

10. NFL - TE Gary Barnidge has talked to multiple teams

Source: Sirius XM NFL Radio

Free-agent TE Gary Barnidge (Browns) has been contacted by the Jacksonville Jaguars and Denver Broncos.

[ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

Good ole "big play" Barnidge is still looking for a new team, but he doesn't need to be in any hurry. Barnidge had a career year in 2015 with the Browns, collecting 79 passes for 1,043 yards and nine touchdowns. Last year his numbers weren't the same (55-612-2) but the offense was atrocious and the QB play left a lot to be desired. With the right team, Barnidge could be an effective starter and certainly a fantasy relevant player.

11. CIN - RB Giovani Bernard will be limited at OTAs

Source: ESPN.com - Katherine Terrell

Cincinnati Bengals RB Giovani Bernard (knee) will be a limited participant when organized team activities begin Tuesday, May 23.

[ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

There's no need for the Bengals to rush Bernard back. They have Jeremy Hill and rookie Joe Mixon to split time at running back in OTAs and into training camp. Bernard continues to recover from a torn anterior cruciate ligament suffered last season.

12. DET - Ameer Abdulla staying focused

Source: DetroitLions.com - Tim Twentyman

Detroit Lions RB Ameer Abdullah (foot) said he's attacking this offseason with a more focused mindset and working as hard as he can to be the best player he can be. The third-year running back also hopes to leave his injury woes behind him. He's focused on the little things and the work he has to do to maintain his body for the NFL after suffering a season-ending foot injury in Week 2 last season.

[ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

Abdullah needs to stay healthy more than stay focused, but we get the drift of this article. He's a dynamic runner and very dangerous in the open field, but we've always felt Abdullah was better suited as a part-time running back. He sits atop the depth chart but will likely split time with Theo Riddick and Zach Zenner at the position.

13. TB - O.J. Howard signs rookie deal

Source: Tampa Bay Times - Rick Stroud

Tampa Bay Buccaneers TE O.J. Howard signed his rookie four-year contract Monday, May 22. All first-round picks have options for a fifth year.

[ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

Howard was arguably the best at his position in this historic class of tight ends in the 2017 NFL draft. He's big, fast and physical...basically a nightmare in waiting for linebackers or safeties tasked with covering him. Bucs QB Jameis Winston loves to throw to the tight end, and Howard gives him a big time weapon to target. Howard will split time with Cameron Brate, and that split will lessen his fantasy impact.

14. NFL - CB Darrelle Revis won't face discipline

Source: ESPNNewYork.com - Rich Cimini

Free-agent CB Darrelle Revis (Jets) won't face league discipline after felony assault charges were dismissed in March by a Pittsburgh judge, according to a league spokesman.

[ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

Charges were dropped in March, but the league wanted to conduct their own investigation with no wrongdoing found. He's not going to get suspended, but Revis is drawing zero interest on the open market. Teams may be questioning his commitment to the game after he seemed to mail it in last year for the Jets.

15. ARI - Arizona still believes in TE Troy Niklas

Source: The Arizona Republic - Kent Somers

Arizona Cardinals TE Troy Niklas can still fulfill his potential if he can just stay healthy, head coach Bruce Arians said.

[ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

With eight career catches in three years, the second-round pick (2014) out of Notre Dame shouldn't be seen as any sort of sleeper...even in the deepest of deep leagues.
