1. NO - Max Unger expected back in preseason

Source: ProFootballTalk.com - Mike Florio

Updating previous reports, New Orleans Saints C Max Unger (foot) is expected to return during the preseason, according to a source with knowledge of the situation.

[ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

This is the best news the Saints could hope for. There was speculation his availability for the start of the regular season was in doubt. Now, it seems like Unger should be worked back in sometime during training camp. We'll know more about this situation as the offseason rolls on.

2. BUF - Buffalo hires Brandon Beane

Source: ESPN - Adam Schefter

Former Carolina Panthers assistant general manager Brandon Beane was hired as the new general manager of the Buffalo Bills Tuesday, May 9.

[ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

Beane will work closely with new Bills head coach Sean McDermott. The two crossed paths previously with the Panthers, so they have a prior working relationship. McDermott is the new sheriff in town, and Beane will be there to be his new deputy.

3. KC - RB Spencer Ware still likely to start

Source: ESPN.com - Adam Teicher

Kansas City Chiefs RB Spencer Ware is likely to start and see the majority of the work as the featured back, in the opinion of beat writer Adam Teicher.

[ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

The Chiefs added talent to the backfield when Kareem Hunt (Toledo) was drafted in the third round of the 2017 NFL draft. Hunt is a big back with good vision and a compact frame that makes him tough to bring down. Ware has the experience advantage, and he's likely to be the starter at the beginning of the season. We could see Hunt make a run at the starting job later in the year. Charcandrick West and C.J. Spiller will likely work as change-of-pace backs.

4. DAL - RB Ezekiel Elliott working on one aspect

Source: The Dallas Morning News - Jon Machota

Dallas Cowboys RB Ezekiel Elliott said he is working on 'becoming a more dominant second-level runner' heading into his second season. 'I think there were a couple times last season where I could've been (better) on certain runs when I got to the second level,' he added. 'So just kinda focused on finishing my runs and making guys miss at the second level.'

[ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

Elliott was already a player known for breaking off big runs in his rookie season. He had 14 runs of 20 yards or more in 2016, a mark that led the league. Teams are going to stack the box to try and stop him once more, so Elliott should be able to take advantage of those looks once again this year. He's an option to be selected with the first pick in fantasy drafts. His current ADP is 1.03 (RB3) in 12-team PPR leagues with the only backs ahead of him being Le'Veon Bell and David Johnson.

5. NYG - QB Geno Smith good to go

Source: NJ.com - Jordan Raanan

New York Giants QB Geno Smith (knee) said he's 100 percent healthy and believes he would be fully cleared to play if he had to.

[ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

Smith will compete as the backup behind Eli Manning this year. His main competition will be rookie Davis Webb. The Giants selected Webb in the third round of the 2017 NFL draft with the hopes that he can develop into an eventual starter.

6. HOU - QB Tom Savage hungry to remain starting QB

Source: Houston Chronicle - Aaron Wilson

Houston Texans QB Tom Savage said 'it doesn't matter if a coach says you're the starter' and that he will go out there and 'play like I have to play to keep this job.' He added: 'You have to perform. I know that, and that's the attitude I have.'

[ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

Savage has a big arm, but he struggles with accuracy, timing and touch. He'll have to keep 2017 first-round pick DeShaun Watson at bay if he wants to be the starter. Watson is the future franchise quarterback, and we think the team will want to get him in the lineup sooner rather than later.

7. SF - Two 49ers linebackers ahead of schedule

Source: Sirius XM NFL Radio - Alex Marvez

San Francisco 49ers LBs Reuben Foster (shoulder) and NaVorro Bowman (Achilles') are ahead of schedule in their rehabilitation. Foster is expected to be on the field for the start of training camp, according to general manager John Lynch.

[ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

The 49ers selected Foster in the first round of the 2017 NFL draft even though he was recovering from shoulder surgery. There were reports that he may need another surgery on the shoulder, but if he's going to be ready for training camp then that's not the case. When healthy, Foster could play like Patrick Willis for the 49ers defense.

8. IND - High praise for WR Donte Moncrief

Source: The Indianapolis Star - Zak Keefer

Indianapolis Colts WR Donte Moncrief has already caught the eye of new wide receivers coach Sanjay Lal. Lal said Moncrief is a 'piece of clay' that has all the tools to be one of the better receivers in the NFL.

[ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

A third-round pick in 2014, Moncrief is entering his contract year in 2017. He was disappointing last year, playing only nine games and gathering in just 30 catches for 307 yards. Moncrief did score seven touchdowns, so with more catches and yards he could be a improved fantasy player. He's going off the board at WR30 (6.04) in 12-team PPR leagues.

9. KC - Several roster moves made by Chiefs

Source: KCChiefs.com

Undrafted free-agents RB Devine Redding (Indiana) and WR Jamari Staples (Louisville) were signed by the Kansas City Chiefs Tuesday, May 9. WR Anas Hasic, TE Wyatt Houston, FB Will Ratelle and RB Kelvin Taylor were waived in corresponding moves.

[ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

Staples is a player we'll monitor in super deep dynasty leagues. He's a physical player who isn't afraid to go over the middle. Staples has the size to absorb a hit, hang onto the rock and go for yards after the catch. The Chiefs have added talent to their WR corps, so Staples is more likely bound for the practice squad in 2017 if he can impress in camp.

10. DEN - Garett Bolles expected to start

Source: ESPN.com - Jeff Legwold

Updating previous reports, Denver Broncos OT Garett Bolles is expected to start at left tackle.

[ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

The Broncos had a huge hole at left tackle before the Bolles pick. The rookie from Utah is super aggressive and can shadow rushers around the edge. He needs to get stronger against inside moves if he wants to excel as the team's starter and blind-side protector.

11. BAL - RB Terrance West contract update

Source: ESPN.com - Jamison Hensley

Updating a previous report, Baltimore Ravens RB Terrance West signed a one-year deal worth $1.797 million.

[ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

West is the lead back for the Ravens...at least while Kenneth Dixon is suspended the first four games of the season. It will be interesting to see how the Ravens backfield shakes out, especially with Danny Woodhead added to the mix this offseason.

12. PHI - Derek Barnett should see opportunities

Source: ESPN.com - Tim McManus

Philadelphia Eagles DE Derek Barnett should see opportunities to rush the passer in at least a rotation at one of the defensive end spots.

[ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

Barnett is one of the most productive players in this draft class. He broke Reggie White's all-time sack record in college at Tennessee, and Barnett is going to be asked to rush the passer as a rookie in 2017. Barnett is technically sound and has a non-stop motor. He could make an impact for the Eagles, even as a rotational player this year.

13. IND - Malik Hooker to receive a chance

Source: ESPN.com - Mike Wells

Indianapolis Colts S Malik Hooker will receive every opportunity to win a starting job, in the opinion of beat writer Mike Wells. Hooker returned three of his seven interceptions in 2016 for touchdowns, and the Colts didn't return a single one for a score in 2016.

[ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

Hooker is rangy and plays with high football intelligence. He'll do a good job of reading the play as it unfolds in front of him, and Hooker has the athleticism to make it to the ball swiftly.
