1. WAS - QB Kirk Cousins won't land a deal

Source: ProFootballTalk.com - Mike Florio

Washington Redskins QB Kirk Cousins has no contract discussions going on, and a source with knowledge of the situation said that no talks will happen. He won't sign a deal before the July 15 deadline for franchise players.

Washington is going to see if Cousins can do it again. If he does, then he's going to make a ton of money. Cousins knows he has something to prove, and that's why he went ahead and signed his one-year franchise tag offer. The veteran QB will make $19 million in his second season as a starter. With a big year in 2016, he could land the long-term deal he wants from Washington.

2. BUF - WR Sammy Watkins resumes running

Source: NFL.com - Kevin Patra

Buffalo Bills WR Sammy Watkins (foot) posted a video on his Instagram that showed him running, and he said 'back on top soon.'

[ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

This is great news. The Bills need him to be healthy, and they'll feed him the ball. That said, this run-first offense and the limitations of Tyrod Taylor lead us to rate him as a WR2 at best.

3. DEN - Denver to speak with OLB Von Miller again

Source: ESPN.com

The Denver Broncos have scheduled a phone call with LB Von Miller Friday, July 8, and his agent, Joby Branion, according to league sources. The Broncos are believed to have modified their offer to Miller recently to fully guarantee a third year of their proposed six-year, $114.5 million deal.

[ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

This is the third positive sign we've seen this week from the Broncos. First, we learned GM John Elway reached out to Miller over the July 4th weekend. Next, we learned the team had put contract discussions with WR Emmanuel Sanders on hold (likely to fully concentrate on Miller). Now, the two sides are going to talk on Friday. We don't think something gets done until the deadline next Friday, but things are tracking positively in this situation. The deadline to sign franchise-tagged players to multi-year deals is July 15.

4. CHI - WR Alshon Jeffery deal unlikely

Source: NFL Network - Mike Garafolo

Chicago Bears WR Alshon Jeffery is far apart in talks on a long-term deal, and there isn't much optimism a deal will get done. 'I sense that both sides really don't feel strongly about this one,' said NFL Network's Mike Garafolo. 'That's because Jeffery's got a $14.6 million tag. The Bears wanted to come in a couple of million below that.'

[ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

The Bears likely want to get Jeffery for a price similar to what franchise-tagged WRs Dez Bryant (Cowboys) and Demaryius Thomas (Broncos) got last year. Bryant and Thomas make $14 million annually, and they both got over $40 million fully guaranteed. Jeffery has no leverage in this situation as he's already signed his franchise tender.

5. DEN - CB Aqib Talib could receive suspension

Source: ESPN.com - Jeff Legwold

Denver Broncos CB Aqib Talib (leg) could receive a suspension for his involvement in a shooting incident this offseason that resulted in him being shot in the leg. The police still have an open investigation on the incident. CB Bradley Roby would enter the starting lineup if Talib is suspended.

[ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

Roby has starter's potential, and he plays a lot in the Broncos' nickel package. However, we don't feel Talib is going to get a suspension....yet. The legal process will have to exhaust itself before the league steps in with any discipline, and that may not be until next year.

6. TEN - RB coach high on RB Derrick Henry

Source: TitansOnline.com - Jim Wyatt

Tennessee Titans RB Derrick Henry will be a good player for the Titans, but he will have to adjust to playing in the NFL, according to running backs coach Sylvester Croom. 'He's going to be a good football player,' Croom said. 'He's just going to have to learn, but everybody does. When I was a rookie coach, a first-year coach, I had to learn. You have to learn what working in the NFL is like, because it is totally different than college.'

[ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

He has to contend with DeMarco Murray in 2016, but long term we love his prospects. This year he will start as an RB4 but if Murray stumbles, we could see his value go up. Keep an eye on him if he drops in your drafts.

7. TEN - RB coach impressed with RB DeMarco Murray

Source: TitansOnline.com - Jim Wyatt

Tennessee Titans RB DeMarco Murray has impressed running backs coach Sylvester Croom with his work ethic and his abilities on the field.

[ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

Murray has everything to gain by a big season, so we expect him to be focused. Splitting time in the 'exotic smashmout' backfield with rookie Derrick Henry could hold him back a bit, so we see him as a borderline RB2/RB3.

8. SD - Trevor Robinson may be on bubble

Source: The San Diego Union-Tribune - Tom Krasovic

San Diego Chargers C Trevor Robinson (shoulder) is still recovering from an injury he suffered last season and could be released or asked to restructure his contract since he is scheduled to make $2.3 million in 2016.

[ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

The Chargers are determined to get this line going finally, and try to give Philip Rivers improved protection. If Robinson can't get healthy they have to look elsewhere.
