1. BAL - WR Breshad Perriman down again

Source: ESPN - Adam Schefter

Baltimore Ravens WR Breshad Perriman (knee) suffered a partial tear of the anterior cruciate ligament in his left knee. He'll be evaluated by Dr. James Andrews Monday, June 13, to determine if season-ending surgery is required.

[ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

More bad news for Perriman here as he missed all of his rookie season in 2015 due to a PCL injury. He's got talent, but his career is getting off to a rocky start with another (likely season-ending) injury. The Ravens will move forward with Steve Smith, Mike Wallace and Kamar Aiken as their top three WRs in 2016.

2. NE - TE Rob Gronkowski should be ready for camp

Source: WEEI.com - Ryan Hannable

New England Patriots TE Rob Gronkowski (undisclosed) said he will be ready for training camp despite missing minicamp last week. Gronkowski said he and the coaching staff are on the same page and everything is going smoothly.

[ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

Good news for the Patriots here. The Gronkowski "cryptic ailment" has been on the mind of fantasy owners, but it looks like all is well. The Patriots are just being cautious with their superstar TE, and he'll continue to be the best at his position in fantasy football.

3. WAS - QB Kirk Cousins not close to long-term deal

Source: CSNMidAtlantic.com - Tarik El-Bashir

Washington Redskins QB Kirk Cousins said there has been no progress in contract talks with the Redskins. The Redskins have until July 15 to work out a long-term contract with Cousins.

[ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

Cousins took a different stance than other franchise-tagged players because he almost immediately signed his franchise tender. For 2016, Cousins in on the books for $19.9 million...but it's just a one-year deal. Washington could sign him to a long-term deal to give Cousins security and perhaps lower his cap number for the upcoming season.

4. SD - WR Keenan Allen lands big deal

Source: The San Diego Union-Tribune - Michael Gehlken

Updating a previous report, San Diego Chargers WR Keenan Allen's four-year contract extension is worth more than $11 million per year, according to a source.

[ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

Locking up Allen makes a lot of sense for the Chargers. A lacerated kidney ended his 2015 season, but if healthy we all know that Allen can be a dominant force on offense. Allen should be a WR1 for fantasy owners in 2016, and offensive coordinator Ken Whisenhunt has got to make him the centerpiece of the offense.

5. KC - Cornerbacks hurting

Source: The Kansas City Star - Terez A. Paylor

Kansas City Chiefs CB Phillip Gaines (knee) was given a day of rest Friday, June 10, as he continues to recover from a torn anterior cruciate ligament. CBs D.J. White and Shannon Edwards left practice Friday, June 10, with strained hamstrings.

[ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

The Chiefs have a great front seven, but their secondary has a couple of question marks. They need guys like Gaines to stay healthy and play well so their defense can stand strong in 2016.

6. KC - Charcandrick West still sick

Source: The Kansas City Star - Terez A. Paylor

Kansas City Chiefs RB Charcandrick West (illness) is making progress from an undisclosed illness, according to head coach Andy Reid, but he has missed four straight days of practice.

[ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

West should be back in plenty of time for training camp. Fantasy owners need to recognize that West is going to play a role this year for the Chiefs...even with Jamaal Charles back healthy. West is an obvious and needed handcuff for any Charles owner.

7. KC - OLB Justin Houston may be at minicamp

Source: The Kansas City Star - Terez A. Paylor

Kansas City Chiefs LB Justin Houston (knee) could be present for minicamp next week, although he probably won't practice, according to head coach Andy Reid. Houston is still recovering from surgery for a torn anterior cruciate ligament.

[ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

Houston's status for Week 1 of the regular season is up in the air right now. The Chiefs need to be cautious with him, and Houston may end up having to start the season on the PUP list--forcing him out of the first six weeks of the regular season.

8. KC - RB Jamaal Charles could return soon

Source: The Kansas City Star - Terez A. Paylor

Kansas City Chiefs RB Jamaal Charles (knee) might participate in team drills during minicamp next week, according to head coach Andy Reid.

[ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

The team is going to take it easy on Charles as he comes back from this injury. The plan is to have him ready for training camp and starting for Week 1 of the regular season. Charles may be more of a top-10 fantasy RB this year instead of a top-5 fantasy RB because of the emergence of Charcandrick West.

9. NO - Surgery hindered RB C.J. Spiller

Source: The New Orleans Advocate - Joel A. Erickson

New Orleans Saints RB C.J. Spiller (knee) said knee surgery during training camp last season played a big role in his disappointing season. Spiller said he wasn't able to cut and stop like he normally would and he lacked the explosion that he's known for. Spiller said last season is behind him now and that the road to recovery is looking bright.

[ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

Spiller is an interesting player to take a flier on later in your drafts. The Saints offense is going to be a high-powered unit, and Spiller can make plays as an explosive runner in space or receiver out of the backfield. His current ADP of RB57 (13.07) in 12-team PPR leagues makes him an intriguing player to pick up and stash.

10. LA - WR Stedman Bailey hopes to play again

Source: The Associated Press

Los Angeles Rams WR Stedman Bailey (head) said he hopes to receive clearance to play again at some point. Bailey was placed on the Reserve/Non-Football Injury list this week so he can remain around the team. He has helped some of the assistant coaches during offseason workouts.

[ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

We can't imagine Bailey getting back to football after getting shot in the head. The Rams were reportedly considering keeping him around in a non-football capacity.

11. IND - Tyler Varga practices this offseason

Source: Colts.com - Kevin Bowen

Indianapolis Colts RB Tyler Varga (concussion) has been able to participate during offseason workouts and will compete for playing time during the preseason.

[ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

Undrafted out of Yale in 2015, Varga is an instinctive runner who has reliable hands as a receiver out of the backfield. Behind Frank Gore, the Colts have some interesting names in the mix for the remaining spots. Varga is going to compete with guys like Josh Ferguson and Trey Williams for perhaps only one or two spots. We like Williams the best, but Ferguson is a shifty receiver...so Varga will have his hands full in this competition.

12. HOU - WR Cecil Shorts admired for toughness

Source: Houston Chronicle - Aaron Wilson

Houston Texans WR Cecil Shorts was praised by WR DeAndre Hopkins for his toughness. 'Even if he's hurt, he's going to go out there,' Hopkins said. 'You'll have to tell him to go on the sideline and get checked out. He's a hard worker.'

[ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

Shorts is in line to play as the Texans second- or third-string WR to begin the season. The Texans have made a ton of moves at the WR position, so his hold on any fantasy-relevant job may be a tenuous one. We could see guys like second-year pro Jaelen Strong or rookies Will Fuller and Braxton Miller get more time/targets behind Hopkins.

13. IND - QB Andrew Luck learning to slide

Source: The Indianapolis Star - Zak Keefer

Indianapolis Colts QB Andrew Luck is reluctantly accepting the fact that he needs to slide when he leaves the pocket, OT Anthony Castonzo said.

[ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

Good! We admire Luck's toughness, but he can't expect to have a long and fruitful career if he doesn't learn to slide. The NFL beating that Luck has to take needs to be reduced, and the Colts have made moves to clean up the offensive line. Now, it's on Luck to help protect himself further.
