1. NYJ - QB Ryan Fitzpatrick stance could escalate

Source: ESPNNewYork.com - Rich Cimini

Free-agent QB Ryan Fitzpatrick's (Jets) impasse with the New York Jets could be more heavily addressed in the coming weeks, according to ESPNNewYork.com's Rich Cimini. Head coach Todd Bowles said the Jets could wait until training camp in late July, but Cimini believes New York will want to get something done before that. Furthermore, if Los Angeles Rams QB Nick Foles is released, then it could prompt the Jets to force the issue with their quarterback, as Foles could be deemed a last-chance option for a veteran signal-caller.

[ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

The Jets have all the leverage here right now and they will play this however they want. Maybe the Rams offer Fitzpatrick if Foles is released, but it's clear that otherwise nobody wants Fitzpatrick and his options are very limited. The Jets could offer Foles a cheap deal and likely he would take it for an outside shot to start, though we imagine he would end up on the bench. Meanwhile we believe Bryce Petty is most in danger of not making the final cut if another quarterback shows up.

2. NYJ - NYJ not giving QB Ryan Fitzpatrick one year

Source: New York Daily News - Manish Mehta

Free-agent QB Ryan Fitzpatrick (Jets) is open to signing a one-year deal with the New York Jets worth $12 million, but the team is not willing to make that offer to him, according to sources.

[ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

As outlined by Mike Florio at Pro Football Talk, the Jets simply can't do that without really putting themselves in a bad cap position. Per Florio: "If, for example, the pending offer from the Jets includes a $9 million signing bonus and a $3 million salary in 2016, Fitzpatrick would count only $6 million against the cap this season. Under his proposed one-year contract, the cap hit becomes $12 million." Fitzpatrick has tried as hard as he could to leverage what little position he had into more money but the Jets won't budge. A mediocre quarterback coming off a career year (which in the grand scheme of things was only impressive compared to his previous work), nobody else wants Fitzpatrick and the Jets are willing to roll out Geno Smith rather than hurt their team long term.

3. SF - No timetable for QB Colin Kaepernick

Source: CSNBayArea.com - Matt Maiocco

San Francisco 49ers QB Colin Kaepernick (shoulder, thumb, knee) does not have a timetable for when he will be cleared for football activities, according to offensive coordinator Curtis Modkins. Modkins said it's important that Kaepernick is cleared when he's healthy.

[ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

It's allegedly an open competition so missing time will put Kaepernick behind Blaine Gabbert but this offense is a bit of a mess so we'd avoid any quarterback here until we see that change.

4. GB - WR Jordy Nelson ready for games

Source: ESPN.com - Rob Demovsky

Updating a previous report, Green Bay Packers WR Jordy Nelson (knee) said if there was a game Sunday, June 5, then he would be playing in it. Nelson will not participate in any 11 on 11 drills until training camp just to be safe while he recovers from a torn anterior cruciate ligament.

[ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

We're excited to see this offense whole and intact again, and Nelson is a key piece of that. We expect him to be a very nice WR1 this year in an offense that should pop.

5. PHI - Carson Wentz ahead of the curve

Source: Philadelphia Inquirer - Zach Berman

Philadelphia Eagles quarterbacks coach John DeFilippo said QB Carson Wentz has exceeded his expectations in terms of playing speed and vision on the field. 'I think there were some things that I thought he would need a little more work with it than he does. He's further along from a seeing-the-field standpoint than I thought he would be. He's further along from a playing speed standpoint than I thought he would be coming from the FCS level. Those are things that I guess you can say I'm pleasantly surprised with, but not shocked,' DeFilippo said.

[ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

Wentz is a sharp guy, and very hardworking, so this is no shock to many of us. Of course, we don't know how high (or low) DeFilippo set the bar to be impressed. We don't know if Wentz will see more than a handful of snaps this season, but there's a real chance he could beat out Sam Bradford this year. We'd avoid starting him in fantasy in that case, as while his upside is high, Wentz is also very raw.

6. CLE - TE Gary Barnidge undergoes surgery

Source: The Cleveland Plain Dealer - Mary Kay Cabot

Cleveland Browns TE Gary Barnidge (hernia) underwent sports hernia surgery Thursday, June 2, and will be sidelined until at least the start of training camp, according to head coach Hue Jackson.

[ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

Barnidge was a surprise fantasy force last season, so maybe this will help him back under the radar for smart owners to take advantage of. We see him as a borderline TE1/TE2 but will watch both his recovery and the development of the Browns passing offense with Robert Griffin III and the 400 or so new wide receivers.

7. KC - RB Jamaal Charles won't work until camp

Source: The Kansas City Star - Terez A. Paylor

Kansas City Chiefs RB Jamaal Charles (knee) made an appearance at practice Wednesday, June 1, wearing a jersey and shorts without a helmet. However, he did not practice, and he is not expected to participate in practice until training begins in July, at the earliest.

[ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

We would be less concerned if Charles wasn't coming off his second ACL injury at 30 but even being worried about that won't stop us from feeling like he is RB1 material. It does put him in the lower half of that category, though. Fantasy owners need to note that the Chiefs are likely to use Charcandrick West in the offense--even if Charles is at full strength.

8. DEN - Team worried about OLB DeMarcus Ware

Source: The Denver Post - Nicki Jhabvala

Denver Broncos DE DeMarcus Ware (back) continues to miss organized team activities (OTAs) due to his back injury, and executive vice president of future operations and general manager John Elway expressed concerns about the injury. 'Yeah, there's always concern with that. Especially with the back, because you never really know. And he's such an integral part of it and his leadership qualities, so obviously we're hopeful he can get that going. We're going to manage him and we knew that coming in this year, to take care of him. Yeah, there's a little bit of concern there,' Elway said Wednesday, June 1.

[ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

Back injuries are tricky to deal with as they can be agitated at any time. Ware missed five games last year dealing with this back injury that kept bothering him during the year. When the team made the postseason, Ware was able to stay healthy and make play after play for the Broncos. They'll wisely monitor him this offseason, and this back problem opens the door for Shaq Barrett and Shane Ray to do more.

9. DAL - WR Dez Bryant can participate in drills

Source: NFL Network - Ian Rapoport

Dallas Cowboys WR Dez Bryant (foot) had an X-ray on his foot Wednesday, June 1. He is now able to progress to football drills. He has not been fully cleared, but he can increase cutting.

[ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

We're getting closer and closer to Bryant returning to full participation. The Cowboys will continue to monitor him as he deals with this injury.

10. CLE - RB Isaiah Crowell should start

Source: ESPNCleveland.com - Tony Grossi

Cleveland Browns RB Isaiah Crowell is expected to be the starting running back when the regular season commences, according to ESPNCleveland.com's Tony Grossi.

[ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

This backfield, in this offense, doesn't fill us with much confidence. Crowell looks like an RB3 in the best case scenario, and likely not quite even that.

11. SD - Hunter Henry signs

Source: The San Diego Union-Tribune - Michael Gehlken

San Diego Chargers rookie TE Hunter Henry signed his four-year rookie contract Thursday, June 2. Financial terms were not disclosed.

[ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

Henry might be the replacement for Antonio Gates but every time we think that about a tight end in San Diego it doesn't happen. He'll see use as a rookie but barring an injury to Gates the torch won't be completely passed this year. It may never be passed as we suspect Gates could be a vampire or some other immortal.

12. JAX - WR Allen Hurns agrees to extension

Source: NFL Network - Ian Rapoport

Jacksonville Jaguars WR Allen Hurns agreed to a four-year extension worth more than $40 million Thursday, June 2, according to a source.

[ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

Hurns had a good second season and the Jaguars are wise to make a commitment to him now. His 1,031 yards and ten touchdowns are definitely needed this year and we see him as a solid WR2/WR3 type fantasy producer. He has a current ADP of WR27 (5.08) in 12-team PPR leagues.

13. CLE - Jim Brown talks WR Josh Gordon's progress

Source: The Cleveland Plain Dealer - Mary Kay Cabot

Cleveland Browns WR Josh Gordon has received help for his off-field issues, according to team official Jim Brown. 'His way of expressing himself, the responsibility he was taking made me feel really very motivated about his chance of getting back,'' Brown said.

[ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

They could really use Gordon but cannot count on him given his many lapses. We hope Gordon can get back on the field sometime in the near future, once he has his issues sorted out. That is, of course, more important than football.

14. DAL - RB Alfred Morris wants to be a complete back

Source: The Dallas Morning News - Kate Hairopoulos

Dallas Cowboys RB Alfred Morris said he wants to become more of a complete back by being more involved in the passing game this season.

[ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

It's going to be hard to find any room to get snaps with rookie Ezekiel Elliott in the backfield. Morris is a proven two-down veteran back, but he's only going to be a reserve runner with the Cowboys in 2016. He may win the primary backup job behind Elliott if Darren McFadden is traded away.

15. MIA - WR Kenny Stills developing chemistry with QB

Source: Sun-Sentinel - Omar Kelly

Miami Dolphins WR Kenny Stills said he has been working all offseason with QB Ryan Tannehill to improve their chemistry, and Stills believes there is no limit to what the Miami receiving corps can accomplish in 2016.

[ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

Stills is quite possibly going to be left in the cold this season if DeVante Parker blows up the way we expect and Jarvis Landry keeps doing what he does so well. Stills has some upside but for now we wouldn't waste roster space.

16. PHI - QB Sam Bradford to work out with teammates

Source: NJ Advanced Media - Matt Lombardo

Philadelphia Eagles QB Sam Bradford said he plans to workout with several of the skill players during the first week in July in order to work on their timing leading up to training camp. WRs Jordan Matthews, Nelson Agholor and Chris Givens are among the players that will be part of the workouts.

[ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

It's a good step, though Mark Sanchez used to do that with his Jets receivers and it never seemed to help. That said, Bradford is still a shaky QB3 until he 1) has the job for sure and 2) proves he can produce consistently.

17. JAX - RB Chris Ivory back at practice

Source: The Florida Times-Union - Ryan O'Halloran

Jacksonville Jaguars RB Chris Ivory (personal) participated in organized team activities Thursday, June 2, after he missed workouts Tuesday, May 31, because of a personal issue.

[ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

Ivory signed a five-year deal, so we are sure the Jaguars will use him but we also feel his total carries will drop from the last few years with the Jets. That hurts his production and right now holds him back as a low-end RB3. Ivory has a current ADP of RB32 (7.07) in 12-team PPR leagues.

18. DEN - WR Demaryius Thomas not worried about QB

Source: NFL.com - Conor Orr

Denver Broncos WR Demaryius Thomas is not worried about the team's uncertainty at the quarterback position this offseason. 'Oh we're not worried,' Thomas said. 'We still got time. These guys are going to be fine. Mark Sanchez has won playoff games. I can't say much about (the experience of) Paxton Lynch and Trevor Siemian, but they've been great so far. So we'll be fine. We got playmakers around them and coaches will put them in the right situation, and of course we've still got our great defense.'

[ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

Well, Thomas has his own issues to worry about after the flurry of drops he had last season late in the year. That said, he also knows that the team will work to replicate much of what happened last season on offense—strong run game, smart passes—and that the passing can't be worse than what they saw last season. On the positive side, now that Peyton Manning is done, the team can run something much closer to Gary Kubiak's vision of offense than they could with Manning under center. We think Thomas has a good year and puts up borderline WR1/WR2 numbers in this conservative run-first offense.

19. PHI - Coach impressed with QB Sam Bradford

Source: The Philadelphia Inquirer - Zach Berman

Philadelphia Eagles QB Sam Bradford has been impressing the coaches during offseason workouts, according to quarterbacks coach John DeFilippo. DeFilippo said Bradford is one of the most naturally gifted passers he has seen in a while.

[ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

It seems like DeFilippo is impressed with everyone! It's a party! On a more serious note, it is good to hear Bradford looks sharp given that he was absent from the team just prior to and after the draft when he was trying to force a trade.

20. MIN - John Sullivan works with starters

Source: Minneapolis Star Tribune - Matt Vensel

Minnesota Vikings C John Sullivan (back) worked with the first-team offense during organized team activities Wednesday, June 1. Sullivan and C Joe Berger may continue to share work with the starters moving forward.

[ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

The Vikings offensive line was a mess last year both because of injury and because it just wasn't good. They have to give Teddy Bridgewater more time to throw and open running lanes for Adrian Peterson, Jerrick McKinnon and Matt Asiata. Center is one of the most critical pieces of the line, so expect this competition to have a huge impact on the offense.

21. SEA - J'Marcus Webb still sidelined

Source: The Seattle Times - Bob Condotta

Seattle Seahawks OT J'Marcus Webb (calf) is still sidelined because of a severe calf strain, but offensive line coach Tom Cable said he hopes Webb will be able to return next week.

[ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

Webb isn't exactly an All Pro to begin with, and the line in Seattle is consistently underwhelming so it's not great to see Webb already hurt. At the end of the day, though, the greater impact on this unit will be not having Marshawn Lynch running over defenses. Without that threat, both run and pass blocking is going to be tougher.

22. TEN - HC challenges WR Justin Hunter

Source: TitansOnline.com - Jim Wyatt

Tennessee Titans WR Justin Hunter met with head coach Mike Mularkey before practice Wednesday, June 1, and the head man challenged him. 'I am asking him to step up and be more aggressive about it,' Mularkey said. 'To get up at the line and look at the guy across from him and tell him: 'You can't cover me.' He just needs more confidence in his body language, and everything about him. He has so much talent, he just has to believe he has the talent.'

[ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

Hunter has been a disappointment in his three years in the NFL. He has the size, speed and skill to succeed but has to, as Mularky points out, "want it" more. He also needs to show us before we tell you to waste a roster spot on him.

23. TEN - Tajae Sharpe works with first team

Source: TitansOnline.com - Jim Wyatt

Tennessee Titans WR Tajae Sharpe saw reps with the first-team offense during practice at organized team activities (OTAs) Wednesday, June 1, and he drew praise from head coach Mike Mularkey. 'He is a very good route runner, and he is not intimidated by this level at all. He is very patient in what he does. He is working in a rotation right now with the 1s so he gets to work with (QB Marcus Mariota) at times. So I think he has been as steady as any of them,' Mularkey said.

[ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

Sharpe runs nice routes and fights for the ball, and while we're not ready to assume he will run with the first team when the fur starts flying in September, he's worth keeping an eye on. We love his upside.

24. GB - HC impressed by WR Davante Adams

Source: Packers.com - Wes Hodkiewicz

Green Bay Packers WR Davante Adams is looking for a rebound after a poor season in 2015. He struggled with an ankle injury suffered in Week 2 which he aggravated the following week. Adams never fully recovered until the playoffs, and then he suffered a knee injury. During the offseason he bulked up, lifting weights once his knee fully healed. His head coach has taken notice. 'He looks stronger this year than in the past and he's healthy,' head coach Mike McCarthy said.

[ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

The Packers need to get other receivers not named Jordy Nelson or Randall Cobb more in sync with Aaron Rodgers. When they aren't we get the mess we had last season. We need to see more than a tease from Adams though, and lots more consistency.
