1. MIN - QB Teddy Bridgewater has torn ACL

Source: VikingsWire.USAToday.com - Neal Coolong

Updating a previous report, Minnesota Vikings QB Teddy Bridgewater (knee) suffered a torn anterior cruciate ligament and other structural damage as a result of a non-contact injury in practice Tuesday, Aug. 30, and he also has a dislocated knee. An MRI confirmed the injuries. He did not suffer any nerve or arterial damage, however. He will have surgery within the next few days, but is expected to miss the 2016 season.

If there's an upside, it happened in August to give him more time to recover for next season. And there's no nerve damage which is a huge positive. The team will turn to Shaun Hill for now and we'll see if they make a move for another QB.

2. SF - WR Bruce Ellington lands on the IR

Source: ESPN - Adam Caplan

San Francisco 49ers WR Bruce Ellington (hamstring) was placed on the Reserve/Injured list Tuesday, Aug. 30. He is out for the season.

[ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

There goes an interesting dynasty prospect, down for the year. Ellington could work well as a slot receiver in Chip Kelly's system, but now we'll have to wait and see if he can make a comeback next year. It looks like Jeremy Kerley could be the team's slot WR in 2016.

3. WAS - RB Keith Marshall done for season

Source: ESPN.com - John Keim

Washington Redskins rookie RB Keith Marshall (elbow) was placed on the Reserve/Injured list Tuesday, Aug. 30.

[ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

A seventh-round pick out of Georgia this year, Marshall was an intriguing dynasty prospect. This elbow injury wasn't supposed to be that serious, but perhaps Washington just wanted to clear up a roster spot. Without Marshall in the backfield, UDFA Rob Kelley is going to be the primary backup behind Matt Jones. Washington could always bring in another RB if need be.

4. NYJ - WR Brandon Marshall injury not a big deal

Source: NewYorkJets.com - Eric Allen

New York Jets WR Brandon Marshall's (hip) injury to his hip is not a concern, according to head coach Todd Bowles.

[ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

Just like we thought. Marshall is being held out of practice, and he's not going to play in the team's fourth preseason game. He should be good to go for Week 1 of the regular season, and you'll start him at his normal WR1 level.

5. DEN - Denver makes two roster moves

Source: DenverBroncos.com

Denver Broncos TE Garrett Graham (undisclosed) was placed on the Reserve/Injured list Tuesday, Aug. 30. WR Bralon Addison was waived.

[ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

With Graham shut down, the TE position becomes even more clear in Denver. Virgil Green should be the lead player at the position, and there's a chance he catches 40-50 passes in 2016. We like him as a lottery ticket TE2 in deeper leagues.

6. DAL - QB Kellen Moore to IR

Source: ESPN - Adam Caplan

Dallas Cowboys QB Kellen Moore (ankle) was placed on the Reserve/Injured list Tuesday, Aug. 30.

[ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

Moore is now down for the year, and Cowboys are scrambling to find QB depth. Dak Prescott will start while Tony Romo is out with a back injury. While Romo is out, the Cowboys need to find a backup behind Prescott.

7. PIT - TE Ladarius Green goes to PUP list

Source: NFL Network - Ian Rapoport

Pittsburgh Steelers TE Ladarius Green (ankle) was placed on the Physically Unable to Perform list Tuesday, Aug. 30, meaning he will miss the first six games of the season.

[ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

Green has never really played up to his potential in the pros due to injury and inconsistency. His first season with the Steelers is starting off poorly with this ankle problem. While Green is out, the Steelers will turn to Jesse James as their pass-catching TE.

8. NFL - QB T.J. Yates cleared to play

Source: NFL Network - Ian Rapoport

Free-agent QB T.J. Yates (Texans) has been fully cleared after suffering a torn anterior cruciate ligament last season, according to a source.

[ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

A team that could show interest in Yates is Denver -- especially if (when?) they cut Mark Sanchez. Yates came up under Gary Kubiak during his time in Denver. He knows the system, and Yates would give the Broncos a veteran presence behind starter Trevor Siemian and future starter Paxton Lynch.

9. NE - New England shopping WR Aaron Dobson

Source: NFL Network - Albert Breer

New England Patriots WR Aaron Dobson is on the trading block.

[ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

Who needs a WR with bad hands? We can't imagine the market is going to be white hot for Dobson's services. In college at Marshall, people blamed poor QB play for the lack of production from Dobson. Well...he doesn't have the excuse in the pros catching passes from Tom Brady. A second-round pick in 2013 by the Patriots, Dobson may not get many more chances in the NFL.

10. SF - QB Colin Kaepernick to play in finale

Source: 49ers.com

San Francisco 49ers QB Colin Kaepernick will play in the preseason finale, and QB Blaine Gabbert will sit out, according to head coach Chip Kelly.

[ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

Kaepernick has an opportunity to showcase what talent he has at this point in his career. He's fallen behind Gabbert in the competition at QB, mainly because Kaepernick spent most of the offseason recovering from three different surgeries. We'll see if he can be a difference maker in this game.

11. ATL - WR Julio Jones still idle

Source: ESPN.com - Vaughn McClure

Atlanta Falcons WR Julio Jones (ankle) remains out of practice Tuesday, Aug. 30.

[ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

All reports indicate the injury is minor, and the team is just being cautious. We should see Jones ready for the start of the regular season, and we are all going to start him as a WR1.

12. SD - QB Zach Mettenberger let go

Source: NFL Network - Rand Getlin

San Diego Chargers QB Zach Mettenberger was released Tuesday, Aug. 30.

[ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

Mettenberger has a rocket arm, but he struggles with accuracy and decision making. In a QB-desperate league, some team should be interested in the young passer.

13. DAL - OLB Sean Lee has MRI

Source: The Dallas Morning News - Jon Machota

Dallas Cowboys LB Sean Lee (knee) had an MRI on his knee Monday, Aug. 29, which had positive results.

[ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

All signs have been positive about Lee during his recovery from offseason knee surgery. He's a star weak-side linebacker for the Cowboys, but he might be moved to the middle to replace suspended Rolando McClain.

14. NO - QB Drew Brees likely to play a quarter

Source: The New Orleans Times-Picayune - Larry Holder

New Orleans Saints QB Drew Brees is likely to play one quarter in the preseason finale Thursday, Sept. 1.

[ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

It's been 10 years since Brees played in a preseason finale. We're shocked Payton has made this decision. The coach must feel his offense needs to show a bit more before the start of the regular season.

15. GB - WR Randall Cobb played hurt, lost strength in 2015

Source: ESPN.com - Rob Demovsky

Green Bay Packers WR Randall Cobb sprained the AC joint in his right shoulder in the third preseason game last season, and he never fully recovered the entire season. The injury kept him from lifting weights, and he lost strength. 'I lost a lot of weight last year during the season,' Cobb said. 'It doesn't help when you can't do much upper-body (training) to hold your strength. Yeah, obviously, it weighed a lot on me but I feel great right now, and that's the plan - to try to maintain my weight and try to stay as injury-free as I can.'

[ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

Cobb is back to full strength now -- and the Packers have WR Jordy Nelson back. The Packers passing game should look much better this season. Not only will the return of Nelson help tremendously, but so will the fact that Mike McCarthy is back to calling their plays. We see Cobb as a low-end WR2 for fantasy owners. His current ADP is WR19 (3.07) in 12-team PPR leagues.

16. TEN - QB Marcus Mariota might play Thursday

Source: The Tennessean - Jim Wyatt

Tennessee Titans QB Marcus Mariota might play a series against the Miami Dolphins in the preseason finale Thursday, Sept. 1, head coach Mike Mularkey said Monday, Aug. 29.

[ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

Mariota is a young QB, so added time playing against an opponent can be of value but we don't think he needs to play much if at all in the preseason finale. Mariota may get pulled quickly, then Matt Cassel and Alex Tanney will take over the QB duties.

17. TEN - WR Kendall Wright expects to be ready

Source: The Tennessean - Jim Wyatt

Updating a previous report, Tennessee Titans WR Kendall Wright (hamstring) said Monday, Aug. 29, that he is feeling better and he thinks he will be ready to play in the team's Week 1 opener. Wright will not play in the preseason finale Thursday, Sept. 1.

[ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

Even if Wright plays, don't expect a lot from him. Rookie Tajae Sharpe is a nice 'lottery ticket' pick late in your draft. He and Rishard Matthews will be the top two targets for the Titans this year (at the WR position).

18. LA - DE Quinton Coples cut loose in L.A.

Source: ESPN - Adam Schefter

The Los Angeles Rams released DE Quinton Coples Monday, Aug. 29.

[ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

Things have gone off track for Coples in his pro career. A first-round pick in the 2012 NFL draft, Coples struggled on two teams (Jets, Dolphins) last year before the Rams picked him up on the open market. He was supposed to be a better fit with his hand on the dirt in a 4-3 defense like the one the Rams utilize. That's not been the case, and now he'll be looking for a new team -- again. He's running out of chances, but there might be some team interested in taking a look at the 6'6" 290 pound veteran.
