1. NE - WR Julian Edelman injury not serious

Source: NFL Network - Ian Rapoport

Updating a previous report, New England Patriots WR Julian Edelman (undisclosed) suffered an injury in practice Tuesday, Aug. 9, but it is not believed to be serious, according to a source.

[ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

Fantasy owners can all breathe a sigh of relief here. We'll continue to watch this situation closely, but know that New England is pretty tight when it comes to injury information...or updates on injured players. Stay tuned.

2. BAL - RB Justin Forsett looks great

Source: BaltimoreRavens.com - Ryan Mink

Baltimore Ravens RB Justin Forsett looks like he did during his 2014 breakout campaign, according to Ravens head coach John Harbaugh. 'I see the same running back we had two years ago, in terms of his speed, his explosiveness, his vision,' Harbaugh said. 'He really looks good. I know there's a lot of talk about the other guys, but he's playing really well.'

[ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

Message! Forsett's current ADP of RB34 (8.01 in 12-team PPR) is too low, but if he keeps impressing in camp we predict it will rise. In 2014, Forsett finished as a top-10 fantasy RB in standard-scoring leagues. Last year, a broken forearm held him to just 10 appearances. Savvy fantasy owners can scoop up Forsett and perhaps get RB2 value. The Ravens offense should look more cohesive with QB Joe Flacco healthy, plus the team is in year two with OC Marc Trestman.

3. SEA - RB Thomas Rawls' status still unclear

Source: The Seattle Times - Bob Condotta

Seattle Seahawks RB Thomas Rawls (knee) will not be rushed back, according to head coach Pete Carroll. It is still unclear if Rawls will play in the preseason.

[ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

Rawls should tote the rock as much as possible if healthy. We see him as a high-end RB2 for fantasy owners this year. Keep track of his health status as we go through the preseason.

4. SEA - RB C.J. Prosise could play next week

Source: 710 ESPN Seattle - Liz Mathews

Seattle Seahawks rookie RB C.J. Prosise (hamstring) has a chance to play in the second preseason game against the Minnesota Vikings next week, according to head coach Pete Carroll.

[ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

The team likes the rookie from Notre Dame, and he was the first of three RBs they chose in the 2016 NFL draft. A converted WR, Prosise is a work in progress as a runner but a fine receiver out of the backfield. Perhaps they'll use the rookie as a part-time player behind starter Thomas Rawls.

5. NE - DE Rob Ninkovich has torn triceps

Source: NFL Network - Ian Rapoport

Updating a previous report, New England Patriots DE Rob Ninkovich (triceps) has a torn triceps, according to a source. There was no tear on the tendon, however. The injury will not require surgery, and if the rehabilitation process goes well, Ninkovich could return by October.

[ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

We're shocked that Ninkovich isn't out for the rest of the year. The team is going to see if he can come back later in the year. In the meantime, guys like Shea McClellin and Chris Long will get a larger opportunity.

6. WAS - TE Jordan Reed will sit Thursday

Source: Redskins.com

Washington Redskins TE Jordan Reed (thumb) will not be active Thursday, Aug. 11, against the Atlanta Falcons, according to head coach Jay Gruden.

[ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

Reed is an easy TE1 for fantasy owners in 2016...if he's healthy. He's a talented move TE who creates mismatches for Washington, but Reed is also known to get banged up quite a bit. We're glad the team isn't going to push him in an exhibition game. So long as he's ready by Week 1, we're good with Reed sitting or a game or two in the preseason.

7. DEN - QB Paxton Lynch will play a lot

Source: NFL Network - James Palmer

Denver Broncos rookie QB Paxton Lynch will play the entire second half of Denver's first preseason game against the Chicago Bears Thursday, Aug. 11. QB Trevor Siemian will play in the second quarter behind QB Mark Sanchez, who will start.

[ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

We're excited to see Lynch in the preseason. From a dynasty perspective, he may have the highest upside of any QB in this draft class. The Kubiak offense can be quite explosive when clicking on all cylinders. This year with Sanchez or Siemian as the starting QB, expect the Broncos to run the ball early and often.

8. DEN - QB Mark Sanchez will start in preseason

Source: NFL Network - Andrew Siciliano

Denver Broncos QB Mark Sanchez will start the preseason opener Thursday, Aug. 11, against the Chicago Bears.

[ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

It's a bit of a surprise given the fact that Sanchez has been struggling in practice for the last six days or so. Siemian isn't setting the world on fire at Broncos camp, but he's not throwing the pick-sixes that Sanchez is on an every other day basis. We think Siemian could start Week 2 of the preseason and the team will monitor both to determine a Week 3 preseason starter...and the likely starter for the regular season. No matter who wins the starting QB job in Denver, they're only a QB3 for fantasy.

9. SEA - TE Jimmy Graham close to a return

Source: The Tacoma News Tribune - Dave Boling

Seattle Seahawks TE Jimmy Graham (knee) is 'right at the edge of getting back,' according to head coach Pete Carroll.

[ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

Simply put, the team was better without Graham last year. We'll see if he can fit better in the offense this year when healthy. Take a late-round flier on Graham as a TE2, but don't expect him to put up numbers like he did with the Saints.

10. MIA - WR DeVante Parker returns

Source: Sun-Sentinel - Chris Perkins

Miami Dolphins WR DeVante Parker (hamstring) returned to practice Tuesday, Aug. 9.

[ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

This is a good sign that Parker's hamstring issue was very minor and his absence was more a precaution than giving him time to heal from an injury that has a risk of recurrence. As long as he gets through the next 2-3 practices without incident, this shouldn't be a black mark on his draft stock.

11. HOU - WR Jaelen Strong in starting position

Source: Houston Chronicle - Aaron Wilson

Houston Texans WR Jaelen Strong was listed as the No. 2 wide receiver opposite WR DeAndre Hopkins on Houston's initial depth chart.

[ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

Strong is an intriguing dynasty prospect because of his size/ball skills combination. He's lost some weight this year to be more explosive, and he's been impressing in camp. The passing game is all about Hopkins, but Strong may perform like a WR6 for fantasy owners in 2016.

12. SD - Stevie Johnson has surgery

Source: The San Diego Union-Tribune - Michael Gehlken

San Diego Chargers WR Stevie Johnson (knee) underwent surgery on his torn meniscus Tuesday, Aug. 9, according to a source. The surgery went well but there is currently no timetable for his return.

[ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

There's no timetable, but we don't expect Johnson back anytime soon. The Chargers made a move to add James Jones after it was learned Johnson needed surgery.

13. MIA - CB Chris Culliver joins Miami

Source: NFL Network - Ian Rapoport

Free-agent CB Chris Culliver (Redskins) signed a one-year deal with the Miami Dolphins Tuesday, Aug. 9.

[ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

Culliver had a major knee injury last November, and Washington decided to let him go. After tearing his ACL and MCL less than a year ago, Culliver's current health status is in question. The Dolphins need help in the secondary, and this signing shows how desperate they've become. Good thing we like their offense (and Adam Gase) so much as the defense--specifically the secondary--could be a major weak spot for the team.

14. GB - TE Jared Cook returns from PUP list

Source: NFL Network - Ian Rapoport

Green Bay Packers TE Jared Cook (foot) has been cleared and is coming off the Physically Unable to Perform list Tuesday, Aug. 9, according to a source.

[ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

Cook is going to compete with Richard Rodgers to be the top TE for the Packers. He's always had natural talent, but Cook has never played fully up to his potential. If healthy, we like the idea of him catching passes from QB Aaron Rodgers in 2016. Take a flier on him as a TE2 if he wins the starting job for the Packers.

15. NYJ - RB Matt Forte won't play Thursday

Source: New York Daily News - Manish Mehta

New York Jets RB Matt Forte (hamstring) did not practice Tuesday, Aug. 9, and will not play in the Jets' first preseason game Thursday, Aug. 11, against the Jacksonville Jaguars.

[ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

Hamstring injuries can linger, so there's no need to rush Forte onto the field for an exhibition game. RBs like Bilal Powell and Khiry Robinson will get more time with Forte out.

16. NYG - WR Victor Cruz may not play Friday

Source: New York Daily News - Ralph Vacchiano

New York Giants WR Victor Cruz (groin) did not practice Tuesday, Aug. 9, with a tight groin, according to head coach Ben McAdoo. His status for Friday, Aug. 12, against the Miami Dolphins is uncertain.

[ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

We don't need to see Cruz in the first week of the preseason. In fact, we don't really need to see him at all in the preseason. Instead, the team should make sure he's as healthy as possible for Week 1 of the regular season. We can't wait to see him salsa dance in the end zone again, but we are realistic about his current level of play. He's more of a WR7 and is unlikely to be the player he used to be after multiple injuries derailed his career starting in 2014.

17. ARI - WR John Brown won't play

Source: AZCardinals.com - Darren Urban

Arizona Cardinals WR John Brown (concussion) will not play in the Cardinals' first preseason game Friday, Aug. 12, against the Oakland Raiders even if he is cleared to do so.

[ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

The Cardinals are wise to take it easy on Brown. We may not see much of him until Week 3 of the preseason.

18. NYJ - DE Muhammad Wilkerson off PUP list

Source: New York Daily News - Daniel Popper

New York Jets DE Muhammad Wilkerson (leg) was activated off the Physically Unable to Perform list Tuesday, Aug. 9. He is now eligible to return to practice.

[ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

Good news for the Jets here. Wilkerson was rehabilitating from a broken leg he suffered in the regular season finale last year. The defensive end believes that he'll be ready for Week 1 of the regular season.

19. OAK - WR Amari Cooper talks 2015 injury

Source: NFL.com - Chris Wesseling

Oakland Raiders WR Amari Cooper said a foot injury nearly shut down his 2015 rookie season that ended in him failing to top 20 receiving yards in three of his four December games. Cooper said Monday, Aug. 8, in an interview with KGMZ in San Francisco, he was not himself and everything about his play was affected. Cooper noted his inability to create separation off the line and out of breaks because of the injury.

[ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

He's one of the best young WRs in the game today, and we're thrilled about his upside in the Raiders passing game. Cooper is a great route-runner and now that he's healthy there should be no problem gaining separation. We see him as a high-end WR2 or low-end WR1 in year two of his pro career.

20. IND - DE Kendall Langford out 3-4 weeks

Source: Terre Haute Tribune-Star - Tom James

Indianapolis Colts DE Kendall Langford (knee) had an MRI on his injured knee, and he's expected to be sidelined three to four weeks, according to head coach Chuck Pagano. Langford is hopeful to return before the season opener.

[ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

The Colts are going to be scary thin on the defensive line in Week 1 with Arthur Jones suspended and Henry Anderson coming off ACL surgery. The Lions get the benefit of this Week 1 matchup.

21. LA - QB Case Keenum the starter for now

Source: NFL Network - Ian Rapoport

Los Angeles Rams QB Case Keenum has a real chance to open the season as a starter over QB Jared Goff, and that is the team's plan for now. Goff could change the team's minds in the preseason.

[ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

Keenum was actually better than Nick Foles last year and he played decently under new offensive coordinator Rob Boras. The team also brought in Mike Groh, who worked under Adam Gase and Marc Trestman in Chicago, to coordinate the passing game. It can't get worse.

22. TB - WR Vincent Jackson banged up

Source: Tampa Bay Times - Greg Auman

Tampa Bay Buccaneers WR Vincent Jackson (undisclosed) is out of practice Tuesday, Aug. 9, as a maintenance day and because he's banged up, according to head coach Dirk Koetter.

[ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

Jackson had a knee injury that cost him a lot of 2015, so we would rather hear that he is feeling better than ever. He was a disappointment but his ADP that often puts him in the double digits rounds makes him pretty cheap for an accomplished wide receiver in a good pass offense.

23. TEN - QB Marcus Mariota has rough day

Source: The Tennessean - Jason Wolf

Tennessee Titans QB Marcus Mariota struggled in the Monday, Aug. 8, scrimmage by throwing an interception and being flagged for a false start. 'It's unacceptable, my play today,' Mariota said. 'I can't be turning the ball over like that. I've got to be putting these guys in better situations. But all in all I'm glad we were able to come out and finish the drives that we did, and we had a pretty good red zone (drill) as well.'

24. SD - WR Keenan Allen shines in camp

Source: The San Diego Union-Tribune - Tom Krasovic

San Diego Chargers WR Keenan Allen returned to practice Monday, Aug. 8, after missing two days with a strained foot and 'whipped' several defenders, according to The San Diego Union-Tribune's Tom Krasovic.

[ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

Allen is sometimes getting into the first round in PPR leagues, and his performance last year merits it. Stevie Johnson being out indefinitely could make his ridiculous 2015 target share stay intact.

25. SD - WR James Jones struggling to separate

Source: The San Diego Union-Tribune - Tom Krasovic

San Diego Chargers WR James Jones has struggled in training camp to make clean releases off of the line of scrimmage.

[ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

Jones' best days are behind him, and it's possible that his temporary resurgence in 2015 was more due to chemistry with Aaron Rodgers than what Jones has left in the tank. Dynamic second-year UDFA Tyrell Williams could push Jones for a spot in three-wide sets with a good summer.

26. TB - RB Charles Sims out of practice

Source: The Tampa Tribune - Roy Cummings

Tampa Bay Buccaneers RB Charles Sims (ankle) is out of practice Tuesday, Aug. 9, after injuring his ankle earlier in the week.

[ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

The injury has been described as a "tweak" and Sims has been seen on the sidelines walking with no noticeable hitch in his stride. He'll be fine.

27. CIN - PK Mike Nugent showing consistency

Source: Bengals.com - Geoff Hobson

Cincinnati Bengals PK Mike Nugent was 6-for-6 on his field goal attempts Monday, Aug. 8, hitting all of his attempts from between 44 and 50 yards.

[ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

Nugent is facing competition from Zach Hocker, but he has risen to the occasion and all signs point to him being the Bengals kicker again this year.

28. DEN - CB Aqib Talib facing suspension?

Source: Mile High Sports

Denver Broncos CB Aqib Talib might be facing an eight-game suspension for his gunshot injury during the offseason. ESPN's Adam Schefter said in a radio interview with a Denver-area radio station that a knowledgeable part told him: 'I don't see how this is less than eight games.' If Talib is indeed suspended, CBs Bradley Roby and Kayvon Webster would be forced to pick up the slack.

[ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

The Broncos still have one of the best corners in the league in Chris Harris, but this would be a blow to a defense that lost Danny Trevathan and Malik Jackson in free agency.

29. MIN - WR Cordarrelle Patterson back on the field

Source: Minneapolis Star Tribune - Andrew Krammer

Minnesota Vikings WR Cordarrelle Patterson (shoulder) participated in practice Monday, Aug. 8, after sitting out practice Saturday, Aug. 6.

[ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

Patterson had built some momentum this offseason, but got hurt at the open of camp. He won't play a core role in the offense, but if he has made progress as a route runner, it could help his free agent market next year.
