DEN - RB Ronnie Hillman wants to start

Source: The Denver Post - Jeff Legwold

Denver Broncos RB Ronnie Hillman said he wants to be the starting running back once the regular season begins. 'Come the opener, I want to be the guy back there,' Hillman said. 'I can't lie. I want it to be me and I'm pushing to be that guy.' Hillman said he understands he needs to keep his weight up during the season but does not think it will hurt his speed.

[ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

Hillman could open the season as the starter for the Broncos. He received about 75% of the first-team reps this offseason while second-round pick Montee Ball received only 25%. Many expect Ball to win the starting job and this is a battle that will go through most of training camp and the preseason. Knowshon Moreno is seen as a third-string RB who gives the team veteran insurance. No matter who wins the starting job fantasy owners need to recognize the Broncos are going to use a RBBC in 2013.

WAS - Robert Griffin doing well with tests

Source: ESPN980 - Chris Russell

The Washington Redskins have been surprised by how well QB Robert Griffin III (knee) has done with tests they have asked him to do. The team has not planned out an exact timetable for Griffin at this time.

[ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

We've heard nothing but positive news about Griffin's recovery this offseason. We're unlikely to see much of him in training camp or the preseason as the team prepares to get him ready for the start of the regular season.

WAS - Rookie RBs could be third down options

Source: The Washington Post - John Keim

Washington Redskins RBs Chris Thompson and Jawan Jamison could be candidates for the third down running back role during training camp.

[ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

If Thompson is healthy then he's the player to keep an eye on here. He's currently recovering from knee surgery but is expected to be ready for the start of training camp. Thompson has incredible speed, burst, and can change direction without losing much speed.

ARI - WR Larry Fitzgerald, QB Carson Palmer connecting

Source: USA TODAY Sports - Tom Pelissero

Arizona Cardinals WR Larry Fitzgerald and QB Carson Palmer have been working together at the receiver's annual summer program at the University of Minnesota. 'Look, this is a big year for me, coming off my worst season as a pro,' Fitzgerald said. 'I know Carson wants to play well this year. This is a huge year, and we're leaning on each other.' New head coach Bruce Arians' offense features more formations, route adjustments and hot reads than Palmer is accustomed to executing, so the pair, and the franchise, is hoping that the extra work will improve chemistry and preparedness.

[ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

Great news for the Cardinals here. Fitzgerald is in for a bounce back season in 2013. He was the 5th best fantasy WR in 2011 but finished as the 42nd ranked fantasy WR in 2012. His current ADP is WR7 and he's coming off the board at 3.05 in 12 team PPR leagues.

SEA - QB Tarvaris Jackson may have edge for No. 2 QB job

Source: The Seattle Times - Bob Condotta

Seattle Seahawks QB Tarvaris Jackson could have an edge over QB Brady Quinn for the No. 2 quarterback job because he knows the system and appears to be a better fit for the direction the offense appears to be going.

[ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

We agree with this report. Jackson worked with OC Darrell Bevell in both Minnesota and Seattle. He is also more athletic than Quinn and Jackson's skill set more closely resembles that of starter Russell Wilson.

NYJ - Jets West Camp: positive for QB Mark Sanchez?

Source: The Associated Press

New York Jets QB Mark Sanchez, as has been widely reported, organized a three-day get-together with several of his teammates at his old high school called 'Jets West Camp.' The itinerary has included classroom work on to study film and the playbook as well as on-field passing drills. It concludes on Saturday, July 13.

[ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

Sanchez is feeling good about winning the starting job in training camp. He'll compete with rookie Geno Smith (West Virginia) for that spot in August. Smith is not attending Jets West and is working out on his own before camp.

BUF - TE Chris Gragg likely to make roster

Source: BuffaloBills.com - Chris Brown

Buffalo Bills TE Chris Gragg likely will earn one of the backup tight end spots on the final roster because he performed well with increased reps during offseason workouts.

[ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

Gragg is a smooth athlete and the rookie from Arkansas can create mismatches when he's on the field. He's got the speed to attack the seam and can run away from Linebackers in coverage. Gragg is not a tradition in line TE as blocking is not a strong point of his game. He can line up as a move TE or H-back for the Bills.

BUF - Four WRs appear safe

Source: BuffaloBills.com - Chris Brown

Buffalo Bills WRs Stevie Johnson, T.J. Graham, Robert Woods and Marquise Goodwin appear to be the only wide receivers on the roster that are fairly certain to make the final roster. The rest of the wide receivers on the roster will be competing for two roster spots at the most.

[ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

The Bills instantly upgraded their WR corps in the 2013 NFL draft. Woods is a great WR with sharp routes and consistent hands. Goodwin has Olympic speed and can stretch the field vertically. After the draft they picked up talented rookie WR Da'Rick Rogers (Tennessee/Tennessee Tech) as a free agent. Rogers had a breakout sophomore season at Tennessee, leading the SEC in catches and finishing second in both yards and TD receptions.

CHI - J'Marcus Webb expected to be RT

Source: CSNChicago.com - John Mullin

Chicago Bears OT J'Marcus Webb is expected to be the team's starting right tackle this season but will have to compete with OT Jonathan Scott for the job during training camp.

[ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

Webb failed as a left tackle for the Bears. The team was wise to make a move this offseason to pick up top free agent Jermon Bushrod at LT. However, Webb does has the size, strength, and athleticism to be a good right tackle. QB Jay Cutler should have much better protection in 2013.

BUF - Kendall Gaskins to be used as running back

Source: BuffaloBills.com - Chris Brown

Buffalo Bills RB Kendall Gaskins has been told he will not be used as a fullback during training camp, and he instead will serve as a running back. 'Itís a good fit for me. (Running backs coach) Tyrone Wheatley likes big backs and Iím only going to be playing running back, not fullback as well. So it was an overall good choice for me and a good fit for me,' Gaskins said.

[ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

Wheatley was a big back himself and spent time at both fullback and running back during his pro career. Gaskins is tough to bring down when he builds a head of steam and can regularly run through arm tackles. He isn't quick and lacks the foot speed to change direction smoothly. We're not counting on him to make the final roster but he might do enough to earn a spot on the practice squad.

PHI - Chip Kelly: no problems so far

Source: USA TODAY Sports - Martin Frank

Philadelphia Eagles head coach Chip Kelly said that the team's veterans haven't shown resistance to the changes that the new head man has instituted. 'I think our older players have been the best to be honest with you,' Kelly said. He also stated that it doesn't bother him when players speak out, like QB Michael Vick and WR DeSean Jackson did regarding the naming of a starting quarterback. He believes that teams like the San Francisco 49ers, Seattle Seahawks and New England Patriots have been successful with methods and schemes similar to his.

[ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

Kelly's offense is going to be one of the most exciting to watch this year. He'll bring a tempo to the field that some defenses may not be able to handle. We should also see more of his trademark inside zone/outside zone read option plays. We'll see if Vick or Nick Foles wins the starting job in training camp.

ARI - DE Calais Campbell thinks team can win division

Source: CBSSports.com - Mike Freeman

Arizona Cardinals DE Calais Campbell said he believes the team can win the NFC West this season because of the addition of QB Carson Palmer. 'I don't want to disrespect anyone but now we have a real quarterback to go with a good defense. When we play with a lead, we're hard to beat. This is the first time in years that we have an offense that matches our defense,' Campbell said.

[ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

The team still has a strong defense and they've made moves to upgrade their offense this offseason. However, they play in the NFC West which has quickly turned around to become arguably the strongest division in football. Most think the Seahawks or the 49ers are going to win the division in 2013.

CLE - Two OLBs likely will be used as rotational players

Source: Akron Beacon Journal - Nate Ulrich

Cleveland Browns LBs Barkevious Mingo and Quentin Groves likely will be used as rotational players at outside linebacker this season with LBs Paul Kruger and Jabaal Sheard being the starters.

[ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

Mingo can be used effectively as a part time pass rusher. He's long and lean with first step explosion but he lacks power moves to his game. Mingo has high upside but may take a little bit of time to build proper strength and multiple pass rush moves at the pro level.

TB - Akeem Spence may not start Week 1

Source: Tampa Bay Times - Stephen Holder

Tampa Bay Buccaneers DT Akeem Spence may not be the starting nose tackle Week 1 but is expected to get plenty of playing time this season.

[ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

Spence is going to have to work his way up the depth chart if he wants to start. Spence is somewhat undersized by NFL standards but has a strong anchor and can be disruptive in the middle of the D-Line. He embraces the violence of the game and has good range down the line of scrimmage when plays go away from him.
