SEA - More on RB Marshawn Lynch case

Source: The Seattle Times - Bob Condotta

Updating previous reports, Seattle Seahawks RB Marshawn Lynch won't stand before a jury until Dec. 27, for his drunken driving case. It's possible there won't be a resolution until late in the season or after the season. That would mean he played two full years before the legal process runs its course.

[ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

Lynch's fantasy owners can breathe a sigh of relief here. The league won't discipline Lynch until the legal process has run it's course. It looks like any sort of discipline may not come until next year.

NYJ - QB Mark Sanchez believes he will be named starter

Source: New York Daily News - Manish Mehta

New York Jets QB Mark Sanchez said he would bet on himself to win the starting job. 'When it comes down to a competition, I just put my money on myself… and bet on myself and go play and go win the job.'

[ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

We like seeing this confidence from Sanchez. He's been the Stuart Smalley of the NFL for the last couple of years but is feeling good this offseason. Sanchez is competing with rookie Geno Smith (West Virginia) for the starting job in 2013.

TEN - QB Jake Locker praises WR Justin Hunter

Source: The Tennessean - Jim Wyatt

Tennessee Titans QB Jake Locker praised WR Justin Hunter as a talented wide receiver. "He's talented," Locker said. "He's a guy that can definitely help us out if we can keep him on the field."

[ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

We like Hunter's ability as a receiver. He's strong after the catch and can make difficult catches seem routine. The problem is consistency. Hunter will too often drop passes that are right on the money.

MIA - No negotiations with RB Vonta Leach

Source: The Miami Herald - Armando Salguero

The Miami Dolphins have not had any negotiations with free agent FB Vonta Leach (Ravens).

[ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

The Dolphins were considered the favorite to land Leach but all has been quiet for the last week or so. We'll see if the team makes a move for the veteran before the start of training camp. We love the upside of Lamar Miller but will be even more excited about his prospects if Leach is added to blast open holes in front of him.

BUF - QB will be decided before season starts

Source: BuffaloBills.com - Chris Brown

Buffalo Bills head coach Doug Marrone will probably decide whether Kevin Kolb or EJ Manuel will start at quarterback by the close of the second preseason game, or maybe the third preseason game at the latest. "As a coach the earlier it can get done the better," Marrone said.

[ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

This will be a heated QB competition early in camp and fantasy owners need to monitor this closely. Kolb has the edge in terms of experience but Manuel is seen as the QB of the future and may take over sooner rather than later. We love that Manuel is a football junkie and doesn't shy away from competition. However, he regularly made one read then took off to run in college. He'll have to speed up (and continue through) his progressions to fully develop as a pro passer. Manuel's rushing ability will improve his fantasy potential.

NYJ - No QB Geno Smith at Jets west

Source: New York Daily News - Manish Mehta

New York Jets QB Mark Sanchez is the only quarterback at "Jet's west" Friday, July 12. QB Geno Smith is not participating in the workouts organized by Sanchez.

[ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

Smith struggled this offseason and could use some extra work with his teammates. He's competing with Sanchez for the starting job in 2013.

WAS - RB notes

Source: The Washington Post - John Keim

Washington is sorting out its RB depth chart. Roy Helu seems like the best fit for changeup work, and he has improved in his pass protection. Evan Royster will have to be beaten out for his roster spot. Rookie Chris Thompson (knee) would be a solid fit for triple-option reads and third-down plays, as well, but he needs to heal following a torn anterior cruciate ligament. Plus, he needs to gain experience in picking up blitzes. Jawan Jamison, another first-year player, looks to be more in the mold of Royster.

[ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

If he can stay healthy we'll likely see Helu win the backup job behind Alfred Morris. Royster is a bigger back who lacks the footwork to be more than a short yardage guy. Thompson is an exciting rookie from Florida State who can absolutely fly and change direction smoothly without losing much speed. If healthy he could make for a nice big play back.

DEN - QB expects new deal for Ryan Clady

Source: NFL.com - Dan Hanzus

Denver Broncos QB Peyton Manning said he expects the team to sign franchise free-agent OT Ryan Clady to a long-term contract before the deadline Monday, July 15 because the team knows how important Clady is to the offense.

[ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

Most expect this deal to get done by Monday's deadline. Clady is a key piece for the O-Line and one of the best in the game at his position. Protecting Manning is the priority for the Broncos if they want to make a run at the Super Bowl.

NYJ - No setback for WR Stephen Hill

Source: New York Daily News - Manish Mehta

New York Jets WR Stephen Hill (knee) has not had any setbacks with a knee issue, but the team will likely ease Hill into training camp when practice begins by monitoring his snaps.

[ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

Good news for the Jets here. Hill has upside but is still raw as a WR. He needs to improve his route running and concentration in order to play up to his potential as a pro.

TB - Is WR Mike Williams upset with contract talks?

Source: Tampa Bay Times - Stephen Holder

Tampa Bay Buccaneers WR Mike Williams sent out a cryptic twitter message Thursday, July 12, that could suggest contract extension talks are not as far along as he would like.

[ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

Per Holder, Williams is known to get a little dramatic on social networking. Most feel this deal will get done eventually. Williams had a bounce back season last year as the WR2 opposite Vincent Jackson.

MIA - RB Lamar Miller working out with RB Frank Gore

Source: The Miami Herald - Barry Jackson

Miami Dolphins RB Lamar Miller has been working out with San Francisco 49ers RB Frank Gore, who's taking on a sort of mentor role. They've been working together twice a day with a group of other players who, like them, came from the University of Miami. '(Miller's) footwork got a lot better' since they started working out together, said Gore.

[ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

Miller is one of the most exciting young RBs in the league and will get a chance to prove himself this year as the Dolphins' starter. Coming out of college he reminded many in the scouting community of former Broncos/Redskins RB Clinton Portis because of his speed and big play ability. Miller has a current ADP of RB22 and is coming off the board at 3.07 in 12 team PPR leagues. He's a RB2 with RB1 upside if he can play up to his potential in 2013.

SF - Interested in WR Austin Collie

Source: Sacramento Bee - Matt Barrows

The San Francisco 49ers are still interested in free-agent WR Austin Collie (Colts), but they're unlikely to make a move until training camp begins.

[ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

The 49ers want to see how their young WRs develop in camp before adding a veteran. Collie is trying to make a comeback from a ruptured right patella tendon. He also has a long concussion history that clouds his NFL future. Earlier reports indicated Collie wouldn't be 100% healthy until October.

BUF - DE Mark Anderson likely will be eased in at camp

Source: BuffaloBills.com - Chris Brown

Buffalo Bills DE Mark Anderson (knee) likely will have his workload increase as training camp goes on. He was able to participate in a limited basis during minicamp.

[ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

The Bills need better production from their pass rushers in 2013. Anderson was a big addition for them last year but only posted one sack and nine tackles. The team will be careful with him as he returns from this knee injury.

NE - Alfonzo Dennard says he didn't fail sobriety test

Source: NFL.com - Gregg Rosenthal

New England Patriots CB Alfonzo Dennard's camp said he did not fail a field sobriety test the night he was arrested. Dennard's camp said the results of the field sobriety test did not indicate Dennard was under the influence. Dennard was told he did not fail it.

[ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

Dennard already has enough trouble with the law as he's still on probation from a February assault conviction. We'll see if he can dodge any sort of probation violations from this latest incident.
