NE - No running yet for TE Rob Gronkowski

Source: NFL Network - Albert Breer

New England Patriots TE Rob Gronkowski (forearm, back) is not yet running. It takes about a month coming off his back surgery before he can run again, and he had the procedure on June 19.

[ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

Gronkowski is likely to begin training camp on the PUP list. If his recovery goes well then perhaps he'll be ready for the start of the regular season. We'll have more clarity when we get into the preseason.

DEN - WR Demaryius Thomas excited for camp

Source: DenverBroncos.com

Denver Broncos WR Demaryius Thomas is excited about training camp and the potential for the team in 2013. "I'm looking forward to it," Thomas said. "I'm ready. I'm excited, you know, we've got some new additions to the team and through minicamp and OTAs the majority of the team showed up. So I'm excited. Everybody's ready to work hard and everybody's participating. I think it should be our year."

[ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

Thomas has taken his game to another level with the addition of Peyton Manning. The Broncos added free agent WR Wes Welker earlier this offseason but we're not expecting Welker to take a huge bite out of the targets for Thomas. However, Welker's arrival could impact the targets for Eric Decker. The Broncos are a pass happy team with a new up tempo offense under OC Adam Gase.

NYG - RB David Wilson growing as a blocker

Source: ESPNNewYork.com

New York Giants offensive coordinator Kevin Gilbride likes how RB David Wilson has grown as a blocker, but he still not completely up to speed on blocking. 'You see a guy like David Wilson, who started with no clue on who to block, much less how to block, to a pretty good understanding of what it is that he has to do,' Gilbride said. 'Now it is a matter of doing it. And it is a matter of getting better at it. He is still not 100 percent.'

[ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

Great news for Wilson here. If a RB wants to be the starter then he must show an ability to pass protect. Wilson has big play ability and can run through arm tackles with ease. He should be the lead back for the Giants this year with Andre Brown as a power change of pace and goalline back. Wilson's current ADP is RB20 and he's coming off the board at 3.05 in 12 team PPR leagues.

HOU - RB Arian Foster determined to reach goals

Source: HoustonTexans.com

Houston Texans running backs coach Chick Harris said RB Arian Foster is determined to reach his goals in 2013. "I think Arian is more determined than ever to reach his goals of being better than last year and obtaining more yards in both the passing game and run game," Harris said. "He knows what he did the year before. He did not attain the amount of yards that he had prior so therefore he's gunning for it."

[ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

If there's anyone who can reach their goals it's Arian Foster. A calf injury prevented him from working out this offseason so the team is likely to ease him back into action during training camp.

DET - WR Calvin Johnson can get better?

Source: NFL.com - Marc Sessler

Detroit Lions WR Calvin Johnson believes that he can improve on last season's 1,964 receiving yards, according to QB Matthew Stafford, who appeared on NFL Network's 'NFL AM' on Thursday, July 11. 'That guy works harder than anybody I know. ...' said Stafford. He broke former WR Jerry Rice's single-season record while playing with broken fingers. Stafford acknowledged that the Lions must become more balanced in order to be successful as a team, however.

[ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

A better Megatron is a scary thought. Calvin Johnson could go down as the best to ever play the game if he stays healthy and keeps performing at an elite level.

NYJ - QB Mark Sanchez confident he'll win job

Source: ESPNNewYork.com - Rich Cimini

New York Jets QB Mark Sanchez will gather Thursday, July 11, with about 15 teammates near his home in Southern California for 'Jets West', which is his annual, players-only passing camp. Sanchez is confident in his abilities, and he looks forward to competition in training camp. 'When it's a straight-up competition for the job, let's roll,' Sanchez said. 'It really doesn't bother me at all. It really doesn't affect my confidence or anything like that. We're competing for something. All right, I'm going to win. That's just how I am.'

[ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

The fact that Sanchez is confident is news worthy. He's been the Stuart Smalley of the NFL over the past couple of seasons and needs to get his swagger back if he wants to keep his starting job. Sanchez is competing with rookie Geno Smith (West Virginia) to be the team's starter in 2013.

NYJ - QB Geno Smith won't attend Jets west

Source: ESPNNewYork.com - Ian Begley

New York Jets QB Geno Smith will not attend "Jets west," an offseason training program organized by QB Mark Sanchez. Instead, Smith will work out in Florida.

[ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

We'd like to see Smith work out with his new teammates to keep establishing chemistry. This isn't the first time Smith has avoided competition in 2013. Earlier this year he skipped the Senior Bowl even though he wasn't regarded as the best QB in this draft class. "Jets West" is a players only camp where teammates get to bond and practice. Smith will have to wait for chemistry building in August.

CAR - RB Jonathan Stewart update

Source: The Charlotte Observer - Joseph Person

Carolina Panthers head coach Ron Rivera said RB Jonathan Stewart (ankles) is progressing after having offseason surgery on both ankles. He wouldn't say whether Stewart would be ready for training camp.

[ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

Stewart has a long and storied injury history that has lasted almost his entire pro career. He's one of the toughest players in the league and will play through as much pain as he can. Hopefully these surgeries will get him to full strength in 2013. Stewart's current ADP is RB35 and he's coming off the board at 7.06 in 12 team PPR leagues.

NE - RB Brandon Bolden had ankle issue

Source: ESPNBoston.com

New England Patriots RB Brandon Bolden (ankle) did not participate in the team's offseason program because of a sprained ankle he suffered while working out in the offseason.

[ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

We'll see Bolden compete with LeGarrette Blount for a spot on the roster behind Stevan Ridley and Shane Vereen. Bolden will meet with team doctors Monday, July 15, but it is expected he will be ready for training camp.

DEN - Off-field issues won't be a distraction

Source: The Denver Post - Mike Klis

Denver Broncos WR Eric Decker said the front office off-field issues will not be a distraction for the team on the field. 'I don't think so,' Decker said. 'This is a great organization. They'll find the right manner to handle it. As players, our focus is on getting ourselves ready for a great season.'

[ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

The Broncos are all about business on the field. They're the favorite to win the Super Bowl at this time and don't want to fall short in the playoffs like they did last year.

NYG - RB Henry Hynoski hopes to be ready

Source: The Star-Ledger - Conor Orr

New York Giants FB Henry Hynoski (knee) hopes to be ready for Week 1 of the 2013 season. Hynoski may be a bit ahead in his rehabilitation.

[ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

This news may prevent the team from adding free agent fullback Vonta Leach. We think Leach is a better blocker and would be an upgrade but perhaps the Giants will continue with Hynoski.

HOU - Praise for RB Greg Jones

Source: HoustonTexans.com

Houston Texans running backs coach Chick Harris praised FB Greg Jones, calling him a pro. "Greg Jones is a pro," Harris said. "He's a guy that has played for ten years and he's a class act all the way. He's a very powerful man, and he's got the type of size and mass that you would like for a fullback to have. I think he has the type of attitude that will be that way."

[ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

Jones is a fantastic fullback with incredible strength and the ability to blast open holes regularly. His presence will help clear the way for superstar RB Arian Foster.

JAX - Sign WR Ace Sanders

Source: The Baltimore Sun - Aaron Wilson

The Jacksonville Jaguars signed WR Ace Sanders to a four-year contract Thursday, July 11. Terms of the contract were not disclosed.

[ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

Sanders has excellent short area explosion which helps his run after the catch ability and effectiveness as a return man. He tracks the ball well and has the body control to adjust to poorly thrown passes. Sanders wasn't asked to run the full route tree in college at South Carolina and needs to develop that skill to play up to his potential as a pro. He's not the biggest player (5'7" 175 lbs) and some question whether or not he can take the NFL beating and stay in the lineup.

CIN - Atkins' work ethic makes him elite

Source: Carlos 'Big C' Holmes - Dayton Daily News

Cincinnati Bengals DT Geno Atkins has quickly emerged as one of the elite DTs in the league largely due to his incredible work ethic. "It's always on my mind that there is someone out there trying to get better than me," Atkins said. "That's why I put in the extra work during the offseason. Not only that, I'm trying to be a leader on the team. The younger guys are looking up to me, and when they see me working hard that's going to trickle down to them."

[ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

No doubt Atkins has become a force in this league. He's in a contract year and could be an option to get the franchise tag next offseason. The Bengals would be wise to wrap up Atkins with a new long-term contract ASAP.

NE - Alfonzo Dennard arrested again

Source: Omaha World-Herald - Jay Withrow

New England Patriots CB Alfonzo Dennard was arrested Thursday, July 10, on suspicion of drunken driving in Lincoln, Neb., after officers spotted his vehicle straddling a lane line. He reportedly refused a blood-alcohol test.

[ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

The Patriots released this statement on Dennard: "The New England Patriots are extremely disappointed to learn of Alfonzo Dennard's arrest. We take this matter very seriously and are working to get more information on the incident." Some have speculated the team could release Dennard if found guilty.
