DAL - RB DeMarco Murray says he's at full speed

Source: The Dallas Morning News - Jon Machota

Dallas Cowboys RB DeMarco Murray (hamstring) said he's '100 percent, ready to go' heading into training camp later this month.

[ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

How long does it last? Murray is incredibly talented but like Darren McFadden (Raiders) he always seems to get banged up. His durability has been an issue going back to his days in college at Oklahoma. We'll see if Murray can make it through a full season this year. The Cowboys drafted Joseph Randle (Oklahoma State) this year to be his backup.

NE - Unsure about TE Rob Gronkowski's Week 1 status

Source: ESPN - Ed Werder

New England Patriots TE Rob Gronkowski (back, forearm) has been rehabbing from back surgery at the team's facility, but the team does not know if Gronkowski will be ready for the start of the regular season. He is concentrating on stretching and improving his core strength at this point.

[ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

We won't have any clarity on this situation until we get closer to the start of the regular season. Gronkowski is likely to begin training camp on the PUP list. He'll be limited if he gets any reps during the preseason. If he's not ready then Gronkowski could begin the season on the PUP list which would keep him out the first six weeks of the year.

MIA - Teammates praising QB Ryan Tannehill

Source: The Miami Herald - Barry Jackson

Miami Dolphins players have raved about QB Ryan Tannehill's work during offseason practices. The consensus seems to be that Tannehill has been more instinctive, less mechanical, and less robotic in his reads.

[ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

No surprise here. Tannehill was one of our favorite QBs in last year's draft class. In fact, our very own Cecil Lammey rated Tannehill number one in terms of pocket presence. Tannehill has better weapons around him this year as the Dolphins added both WR Mike Wallace and TE Dustin Keller in free agency. We'll see if he can continue to improve his game in 2013.

NE - QB Tim Tebow on roster bubble?

Source: ESPNBoston.com - Mike Rodak

New England Patriots owner Robert Kraft has spoken highly of QB Tim Tebow's off-field attributes. Tebow's athleticism could play a role in their fast-paced scheme, so it's too early to write off his chances of making the roster. Still, Ryan Mallett is in a prime spot to lock down the backup gig to Tom Brady.

[ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

Nobody on the planet is expecting Tebow to push Mallett for the backup job behind Brady. We doubt the team would release him after they picked him up earlier this year to sit and develop. However, with Tebow you just never know. Josh McDaniels was fired during Tebow's rookie year with the Broncos and never got much of a chance to work with his prized QB. We'll see if Tebow and McDaniels get more time together now in New England.

NYG - Remain interested in RB Vonta Leach

Source: The Star-Ledger - Conor Orr

The New York Giants are still interested in signing free-agent FB Vonta Leach (Ravens), and Leach has not dropped the Giants as a possible destination.

[ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

Leach is one of the best fullbacks in the league and should find a new home before training camp. He'll boost any ground game that he's added to. Teams like the Giants, Ravens, and Dolphins have shown the most interest.

CIN - RB Bernard Scott could start camp on PUP list

Source: Bengals.com - Geoff Hobson

Cincinnati Bengals RB Bernard Scott (knee) could start training camp on the Physically Unable to Perform list because he is coming back from a torn anterior cruciate ligament.

[ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

The team had a big vision in mind for Scott last year before he got hurt. Now that has changed as they added RB Gio Bernard (North Carolina) in the second-round of the 2013 NFL draft. Bernard is fast, instinctive, and a threat to score every time he touches the ball. He could win the starting job and receive a bulk of the work in the Bengals backfield this season.

CIN - RB Cedric Peerman expected to be ready for camp

Source: Bengals.com - Geoff Hobson

Cincinnati Bengals RB Cedric Peerman (undisclosed) missed some offseason workouts because of an undisclosed injury but should be ready for the start of training camp. He is expected to compete with RBs Dan Herron and Rex Burkhead for a roster spot but likely will have an edge because of his special teams play as well as his production running the ball last season.

[ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

Peerman is a good all-around runner but he should only be on a roster in ultra deep fantasy leagues. At one time we were hoping to see more from Peerman but it looks like at this time his role is clearly defined (and not expanding).

CIN - WR Mohamed Sanu could be emergency QB

Source: Bengals.com - Geoff Hobson

Cincinnati Bengals WR Mohamed Sanu could serve as the emergency No. 3 quarterback again this season if the team decides to keep two quarterbacks on their final roster.

[ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

Andy Dalton is the team's clear cut starter and the team is expecting big things from him as he enters his third season. Josh Johnson is competing with John Skelton and Zac Robinson to win the backup job. At this time it looks like Johnson is the favorite as he's familiar with the Jay Gruden system from their days together with the Buccaneers.

CIN - QB Josh Johnson appears to be favorite for No. 2 QB job

Source: Bengals.com - Geoff Hobson

Cincinnati Bengals QB Josh X. Johnson appears to have an edge over QBs John Skelton and Zac Robinson for the No. 2 quarterback job entering training camp because he is the best runner among the quarterbacks, can throw the ball deep and knows the offensive system.

[ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

Johnson is an athletic QB who can make plays with his legs. He's not afraid to challenge a defense with his arm but struggles with accuracy on the run. We don't think he'll have any problem beating out Skelton or Robinson for the QB2 job in Cincinnati.

PHI - Lane Johnson doesn't want to hold out

Source: ProFootballTalk.com - Josh Alper

Philadelphia Eagles OT Lane Johnson said he doesn't want to hold out and thinks a deal will get done in the next week or two. It's believed offset language that many teams seek for their first-round picks in order to avoid paying the full freight of a contract for a player that they cut before their rookie deals have expired.

[ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

We'll see a flurry of activity before the start of training camp. Johnson has no real reason to hold out and we feel confident the two sides will be able to work something out.

MIA - Confident in Jonathan Martin

Source: The Miami Herald - Barry Jackson

The Miami Dolphins are confident in OT Jonathan Martin's ability to play left tackle. He is bigger and stronger than a year ago, he wants to play on the left side, and he's smart and makes adjustments so that he's not beaten by the same move twice.

[ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

The Dolphins have to be confident in Martin since they lost Jake Long (Rams) in free agency. Martin struggled with edge rushers during his time in college protecting QB Andrew Luck at Stanford. We'll see if he can do a better job protecting QB Ryan Tannehill this year.

MIA - Competition for backup TE job

Source: The Miami Herald - Barry Jackson

Miami Dolphins TEs Dion Sims and Michael Egnew are set to battle for the backup tight end job during training camp and the preseason.

[ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

Egnew is a nice athlete but we like Sims in this competition. Sims quickly turns upfield after the catch and does a good job squaring his large frame to the line of scrimmage. He's not a quick twitch athlete but has a strong build and is not afraid to run routes over the middle.

MIA - GM pleased with WR Rishard Matthews

Source: The Miami Herald - Barry Jackson

Miami Dolphins general manager Jeff Ireland has been pleased with the play of WR Rishard Matthews during offseason workouts. Matthews and WR Armon Binns are believed to be heavy favorites for the No. 4 and 5 wide receiver jobs heading into training camp and the preseason.

[ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

Binns has the size and strength to wrestle away contested passes from defenders but he offers little after the catch. Matthews has deceptive downfield speed and earned praise earlier this year for his standout play during OTAs.

CIN - DE Michael Johnson not worrying about contract

Source: The Cincinnati Enquirer - Joe Reedy

Cincinnati Bengals DE Michael Johnson said he is not worrying about his contract situation and is concentrating about his play this season. 'Iím the right defensive end and Iíll play in every game and do my best for the team. I canít worry about that and prepare myself day in and day out. There is no ill will on either side, itís a business. They have to make these moves much like players have to do the same thing. I have to go out and perform. The bottom line is to help the team win,' Johnson said.

[ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

Johnson is unlikely to sign a new long-term deal before the July 15th deadline. The team has to turn their attention to DE Carlos Dunlap and DT Geno Atkins who are both scheduled to hit free agency next offseason. Most think this is Johnson's last year with the Bengals.

SF - Rookie S Eric Reid signed

Source: The Associated Press

The San Francisco 49ers have signed FS Eric Reid to a four-year contract. Financial terms were not disclosed.

[ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

Reid was one of the top Safeties in the 2013 NFL draft. He plays fast and finds the ball quickly. When he gets there he makes a big impact and is known as an intimidating defender. He can play in the box but has the vertical ability to be effective in coverage. Reid needs to rein in his aggressive play as he will often bite on play fakes and double moves.

KC - CB Brandon Flowers thinks team can have a top secondary

Source: NFL.com - Marc Sessler

Kansas City Chiefs CB Brandon Flowers said he believes the team can have one of the top defensive backfields in the NFL this season after the additions of CBs Sean Smith and Dunta Robinson. 'We going out there trying to have the best secondary,' Flowers said. 'Sean Smith is a big corner that can bump and run ... we brought in Dunta Robinson, someone who can come in and cover, (and) also, [SS Eric Berry] is always roaming on the back end. If we put it all together, man, I think we have the pieces to be the best secondary in the NFL.'

[ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

The Chiefs have an improved secondary this year and should play much better in 2013. Smith is a physical player who can press big receivers at the line of scrimmage. Robinson is a seasoned veteran who diagnoses quickly and finds the best path to the ball.

SEA - OLB Bruce Irvin to LB

Source: The Tacoma News Tribune - Eric D. Williams

Seattle Seahawks DE Bruce Irvin has been converted to outside linebacker. Irvin is suspended the first four games after allegedly testing positive for Adderall.

[ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

Irvin proved last year that he could be a devastating pass rusher. The Seahawks defense is stacked but they will miss Irvin while he's suspended. He'll be one of the team's primary rushers on third down when he returns.

MIA - CB Brent Grimes exceeding expectations

Source: The Miami Herald - Barry Jackson

Miami Dolphins CB Brent Grimes (Achilles') has showed no ill effects of the Achilles' injury he suffered in September 2012, and teammates have raved about him during offseason practices.

[ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

Great news for the Dolphins here. They lost CB Sean Smith in free agency and need Grimes to play up to his potential in order to be an adequate replacement. Grimes has reportedly been doing well in matchups against WR Mike Wallace.
