Hi Folks,

Welcome to Monday. And welcome to July 4th Week. The 4th always feels like the unofficial kickoff to the season for us - maybe it's the fireworks or the burgers on the grill. We've got the news and notes you need so let's get to it.

A. Footballguys Draft GM - Version 1.1 Ready - Get Ready To Mock
The response to the Draft GM has been outstanding and we've been hard at work with some tweaks to make it even better.

One of the coolest features about the new Draft GM is the ability to Mock Draft. While it's the tool you need to run your actual draft, it's fantastic for mock drafting where you go against the artificial intelligence of the app. It's a great way to try different strategies and see what kind of team you end up with. It would be worth the price just for how much fun it is to mock with this.
What's New in Version 1.1

- Position counting, per team and overall on rosters screen
- Variable mock draft AI delay in settings
- Global watch list
- Player search on player database
- Keeper bug fixed
- Cancel updating data option
- PPR/TDs Only scoring is retained on switching to advanced scoring
- IDP VBD adjustments
- Sliders for modifying team AI and projection set balances have numbers changing as the sliders are adapted
- Division by zero yardage scoring causing NaN in VBD bug fixed

Various other minor tweaks and issues fixed.

It's the mobile draft tool you need to Dominate Your Draft.

NE - Two TEs could be trade targets

Source: ESPNBoston.com - Field Yates

The New England Patriots could show interest in Green Bay Packers TE DJ Williams and Philadelphia Eagles TE Clay Harbor if they look to acquire another tight end in a trade.

[ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

Williams is a talented move TE with good run after the catch ability. He's buried on the depth chart in Green Bay behind Jermichael Finley and hasn't received much playing time during his pro career. Harbor is expenable because the team selected Zach Ertz in the 2013 NFL draft and added James Casey in free agency.

DEN - Hillman wasn't at full strength in 2012

Source: DenverBroncos.com

Earlier this offseason Denver Broncos RB Ronnie Hillman commented on the hamstring injury he suffered in training camp of 2012 which slowed him down in the regular season. "I think I never really recovered, but I got healthier than what it was. I'm healthy now, so all I can do is look forward to it now." Hillman also said the team is working with him to protect his hamstrings better. "I do a lot more stretching than I usually do. Getting with the trainers and the weightlifting coaches, they work with me a lot more on my flexibility. They get more on me about stretching after practice and stuff."

[ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

Hillman has been getting around 75% of the first team reps this offseason. Rookie Montee Ball has gotten around 25% of the work but many expect him to win the starting job at some point this season. The Broncos are going to use both backs under new OC Adam Gase and could platoon them per series so as not to slow down the fast tempo of the offense. Ball's ADP is RB22 and Hillman's ADP is RB50 at this time. We'll see if Hillman can stay healthy and hold onto the starting job during training camp.

TEN - RB Chris Johnson happy with the OGs added

Source: NationalFootballPost.com - Len Pasquarelli

Tennessee Titans RB Chris Johnson has told people he could rush for 2,000 yards in a season again because he believes OGs Andy Levitre and Chance Warmack will play much better than the team's guards did last season.

[ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

Johnson should be happy with the OGs they added because that should help boost the ground game in 2013. He'll split time in the backfield this year with free agent addition Shonn Greene to give the Titans a 1-2 punch. Johnson should be the lead back with Greene taking away short yardage and goalline work.

STL - TE Jared Cook will move around

Source: The Tennessean - John Glennon

St. Louis Rams head coach Jeff Fisher said the team will move TE Jared Cook around this season. 'He's going to play all over the place,' Fisher said. 'We've even got him in the backfield, so we've got some good things for him.' Fisher said Cook and QB Sam Bradford have spent a lot of time together this offseason in order to build chemistry.

[ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

Nothing but great news for the Rams here. Cook has never quite lived up to his potential but has flashed big time ability during his pro career. The Rams will use him as a primary weapon along with rookie WR Tavon Austin. His current ADP is TE9 and he's coming off the board at 9.06 in 12 team PPR leagues.

NE - May not be interested in WR Brandon Lloyd return

Source: ESPNBoston.com - Field Yates

The New England Patriots may not be interested in re-signing free-agent WR Brandon Lloyd because he was not a good fit in the locker room last season, which is something the team likely will be looking for this season.

[ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

The Patriots have plenty of inexperience at the WR position but bringing back Lloyd may not be the influence the team wants around their young players at the position. Lloyd may have to wait until injuries hit in training camp before getting another shot with a team.

DEN - Not close to deal with Ryan Clady

Source: NationalFootballPost.com - Len Pasquarelli

The Denver Broncos resumed contract talks with franchise free-agent OT Ryan Clady earlier this month but are not close to an agreement at this point. Clady's representatives are working on a counter offer to present to the Broncos.

[ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

Deals get done at deadlines in the NFL. The two sides have until July 15th to work a long-term deal out since Clady was slapped with the franchise tag earlier this year. He's recovering from offseason shoulder surgery so many believe the Broncos won't overpay for Peyton Manning's blind side protector.

GB - Think OL change will help pass protection

Source: NationalFootballPost.com - Len Pasquarelli

The Green Bay Packers believe moving OT Bryan Bulaga to left tackle and OG Josh Sitton to left guard will help improve their pass protection. The coaching staff also believes the changes will help the team's running game.

[ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

They need to improve the ground game and that's why they drafted both Eddie Lacy (Alabama) and Johnathan Franklin (UCLA) in the 2013 NFL draft. The Packers haven't had a 100-yard rusher in last 43 regular-season games, more than twice as long as any other active streak in NFL (2010, Brandon Jackson).

PHI - QB Matt Barkley likely will not be part of QB competition

Source: NationalFootballPost.com - Len Pasquarelli

Philadelphia Eagles QB Matt Barkley likely will not be a factor in the team's starting quarterback competition during training camp but could be a key piece in the team's long-term future because he was impressive during organized team activities.

[ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

No real surprise here. Nick Foles and Michael Vick will compete for the starting job while Barkley gets to develop as a reserve player. He's an interesting fit for the Chip Kelly offense but has decent upside because of his high football intelligence.

SF - Not thinking of moving TE Vernon Davis to WR

Source: NationalFootballPost.com - Len Pasquarelli

The San Francisco 49ers are not considering moving TE Vernon Davis to wide receiver on a full-time basis even though he received some reps at the position during offseason workouts. The team will add some new wrinkles for Davis in the offense.

[ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

Earlier reports have Davis working out exclusively with the WRs during the team's most recent minicamp. That's more than 'some' reps in our estimation. It doesn't matter where he lines up in 2013. The 49ers have to make up for the loss of WR Michael Crabtree and moving Davis around the formation makes the most sense.

NO - DE Junior Galette could have prominent role

Source: NationalFootballPost.com - Len Pasquarelli

New Orleans Saints LB Junior Galette could receive a prominent role as an outside linebacker this season because LB Victor Butler (knee) will miss the season with a torn anterior cruciate ligament. Galette appears to best fit the profile defensive coordinator Rex Ryan is seeking in a rush linebacker.

[ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

Galette has an interesting blend of athleticism, edge speed, and closing burst. The Saints need to improve their pass rush this season and using Galette more could help that.

PIT - OLB Jarvis Jones has chance to start

Source: NationalFootballPost.com - Len Pasquarelli

Pittsburgh Steelers LB Jarvis Jones has a decent chance to beat LB Jason Worilds for one of the starting outside linebacker jobs because he will have less of a learning curve. Jones played linebacker in college unlike most of the outside linebackers the team has added in the past.

[ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

Most of the time the Steelers take DEs and convert them to OLBs in their legendary 3-4 scheme. Jones used finesse (speed, spin or twist) moves on 11 of his 14.5 sacks, the highest total among AQ players rated 75 or higher by Scouts Inc. Bjoern Werner (Colts) had nine sacks using those moves, and no other player had more than 5.5 sacks on finesse moves.
