DAL - Plan to use two-tight end sets more

Source: ESPNDallas.com - Calvin Watkins

The Dallas Cowboys plan on using more two-tight end sets this season with TEs Jason Witten and Gavin Escobar as the two tight ends.

[ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

The Cowboys are hoping Escobar can develop into a quality pro. He's a move TE with the ability to stretch the middle seam of the defense. Escobar needs to work on his concentration when running routes over the middle. He will sometimes drop passes because he's thinking about running after the catch.

NYJ - More on Geno Smith

Source: ESPNNewYork.com - Rich Cimini

According to a league source, at least one quarterback-needy team in the Top 10 of the 2013 NFL Draft passed on New York Jets QB Geno Smith because of the diva attitude he displayed during a pre-draft visit. 'He's going to have a tough time in New York,' an anonymous NFC scout said Friday, May 3. 'Right now, he's coming off as a spoiled, pampered brat.'

[ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

Smith has plenty of doubters in the football world right now. Perception is reality and Smith is seen as mentally fragile, flippant, and arrogant. It's up to him to prove people wrong. Perhaps sliding to the second-round has humbled him and he'll use it as motivation to play up to his potential. Smith is intelligent, athletic, and has good arm talent. He could beat out Mark Sanchez for the starting job in training camp.

CLE - QB Jason Campbell to get shot at job

Source: The Cleveland Plain Dealer - Mary Kay Cabot

Updating a previous report, Cleveland Browns QB Jason Campbell will be given a legitimate shot to beat out QB Brandon Weeden for the starting quarterback job, according to league sources. 'I've been pleased with Jason (Campbell) and the role he's taken on being there,' head coach Rob Chudzinski said. 'Brandon is getting the reps with the first team and working with the first group. A lot of this will remain to be seen when we get into pads and we get into real football instead of the football where you around around in shorts on air.'

[ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

The team doesn't believe in Brandon Weeden. We like his potential fit in a Norv Turner offense but Weeden will have to win the starting job in training camp.

JAX - Matt Scott injury update

Source: The Associated Press - Mark Long

Updating a previous report, Jacksonville Jaguars QB Matt Scott (ankle) suffered a high-ankle sprain during practice Friday, May 3.

[ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

High ankle sprains are known to linger and this could be a problem for a mobile QB like Scott. He injured the ankle on a play where he threw an interception to Jonathan Cyprien. Scott is athletic and fast but his accuracy is problematic. Trying to make the team as an undrafted free agent he'll need to stay healthy in order to prove himself.

STL - Barrett Jones recovering from injury

Source: StLouisRams.com - Nick Wagoner

St. Louis Rams OL Barrett Jones (foot) is expected to be limited during offseason workouts because he is recovering from a foot injury.

[ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

The team will take it easy on the versatile O-Lineman this offseason. Rams coach Jeff Fisher says Jones should be ready by training camp.

PIT - Jarvis Jones not comparing himself to former LB

Source: ESPN.com - Jamison Hensley

Pittsburgh Steelers LB Jarvis Jones said he is not looking to compare himself to Cincinnati Bengals LB James Harrison, who he is replacing, and is working on becoming a better player. 'I don't compare myself in any way to James Harrison,' Jones said. 'He's a great player and I respect him. I've never met him but I love his game. I wouldn't mind being an impact player like James Harrison, but I'm just continuing to do what my coaches ask me to do and continuing to better myself as a player.'

[ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

Jones is an athletic phenomenon who uses speed moves to get after the quarterback. He used finesse (speed, spin or twist) moves on 11 of his 14.5 sacks, the highest total among AQ players rated 75 or higher by Scouts Inc.

BUF - Marquise Goodwin expected to see time

Source: BuffaloBills.com - Chris Brown

Buffalo Bills head coach Doug Marrone indicated WR Marquise Goodwin likely will be used in some capacity on offense because of the threat of his speed.

[ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

Goodwin has Olympic speed. He'll be used early and often to stretch the field vertically. Goodwin is a perfect fit for the Doug Marrone system. There were some in the scouting community who compared him to Mike Wallace (Dolphins).

BUF - Robert Woods thinks he is good fit in offense

Source: BuffaloBills.com - Chris Brown

Buffalo Bills WR Robert Woods said he is a good fit for the Bills offense because he played in a West Coast offense while at Southern California. 'I'd say it's a perfect fit going to that offense,' said Woods. 'We're going to have a great scheme with these coaches. Just having a history of the West Coast offense and going into this the only thing that's going to change really is the terminology. I'm looking forward to playing in it. I know it's going to be a fast offense.' Woods is expected to contribute on offense immediately.

[ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

Woods can fit anywhere because of his complete skill set. He's a good route runner, has strong hands, and will be a reliable receiver for the Bills.

NE - Coach happy with RB LeGarrette Blount addition

Source: ESPNBoston.com - Mike Reiss

New England Patriots head coach Bill Belichick said he believes the team got good value when they acquired RB LeGarrette Blount. 'With LeGarrette, he's been a productive player. He didn't play as much last year with the emergence of [Tampa Bay Buccaneers RB Doug Martin] down there, so I can certainly understand that Tampa was in. We felt like he was a talented guy that we wanted to have on our team,' Belichick said.

[ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

Blount has a 1,000 yard season under his belt and gives the Patriots another big RB to grind. He'll compete as a backup behind starter Stevan Ridley.

NYJ - Geno Smith excellent when blitzed

Source: Cecil Lammey - ESPN Denver and Footballguys.com

New York Jets rookie QB Geno Smith excelled under pressure last year. When facing five or more pass rushers he completed 70.8% of his passes, averaging 8.7 yards per attempt, 12 touchdowns, and only one interception.

[ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

This is a good sign for the rookie. He's going to see more pressure in the NFL than ever before and Smith will have to make plays when the chips are down. Smith has the athleticism to avoid the rush and keep plays alive with his feet. He'll compete with Mark Sanchez for the starting job in training camp.

JAX - Denard Robinson gets various looks

Source: The Associated Press - Mark Long

Jacksonville Jaguars RB Denard Robinson made his debut Friday, May 3, at the team's rookie minicamp. He showed his speed and versatility, taking a majority of his repetitions with the first-team offense. He lined up in the backfield and at receiver during the two-hour practice.

[ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

Robinson spent the pre-draft process preparing for life as a WR in the NFL. At the Senior Bowl he worked with the wideouts and looked lost. He improved his hand/eye coordination at the Scouting Combine where he worked with the WR group again. Now the Jaguars are listing him as a RB. He's an electric runner and a player who can line up in multiple positions. If he's going to be a RB then he'll have to be coached up on running with better pad level before contact.

NO - Vaccaro an 'impact' player

Source: Cecil Lammey - ESPN Denver and Footballguys.com

Saints first-round pick Kenny Vaccaro (Texas) led all Safeties with 14 impact tackles last year. 'Impact' tackles are defined as tackles made for a gain of two yards or less that prevented a first down or a touchdown.

[ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

The Saints certainly added an impact player with Vaccaro in the first-round. He can play close to the line of scrimmage and is a sound open field tackler who helps in run support. Vaccaro also has the ability to turn and cover receivers downfield.
