SITE NEWS

A. Dominate Your League With A Footballguys Insider Subscription
We hope these Daily Email Updates are helpful. But they're just the tip of the iceberg for what we offer at Footballguys. Most of the content on the site is still free for another couple of weeks but after that, it'll only be available to our Footballguys Inisder Subscribers. Here are Thirteen Reasons To Susbcribe.

For me though, the proof is in the results. I received this email today from Footballguys Insider Subscriber Paul Ricci:

"Do you guys need any more testimonials?

For 9 years I was an average at best fantasy football player.

With your website I dominated my league last year. Three of my current players are in the top 10 of most ADP lists.

You guys liked T-Rich and Doug Martin more than most and I got them both."

B. Footballguys Draft GM - Version 1.1 Ready - Get Ready To Mock
The response to the Draft GM has been outstanding and we've been hard at work with some tweaks to make it even better.

One of the coolest features about the new Draft GM is the ability to Mock Draft. While it's the tool you need to run your actual draft, it's fantastic for mock drafting where you go against the artificial intelligence of the app. It's a great way to try different strategies and see what kind of team you end up with. It would be worth the price just for how much fun it is to mock with this.

What's New in Version 1.1

- Position counting, per team and overall on rosters screen
- Variable mock draft AI delay in settings
- Global watch list
- Player search on player database
- Keeper bug fixed
- Cancel updating data option
- PPR/TDs Only scoring is retained on switching to advanced scoring
- IDP VBD adjustments
- Sliders for modifying team AI and projection set balances have numbers changing as the sliders are adapted
- Division by zero yardage scoring causing NaN in VBD bug fixed

Various other minor tweaks and issues fixed.

It's the mobile draft tool you need to Dominate Your Draft.

C. Draft GM Mobile App - Asking For Your Help
If you're one of the many folks that have downloaded the Footballguys Draft GM - thank you. Seriously. It's a big deal to us and we appreciate your support. But here's a way you can really help us out. Reviews are a big part of the iTunes store. If you could take a few seconds and give the app a review, we'd appreciate it. You don't have to write any words if you don't like, just click and give it how many stars you think it deserves. Thanks for your help.

WAS - QB Kirk Cousins will be ready

Source: ProFootballTalk.com - Michael David Smith

Washington Redskins QB Kirk Cousins said he'll be ready to play, but QB Robert Griffin III (knee) will be ready to play in Week 1. 'Robert looked awesome, and I'm not just saying that,' Cousins said. 'He is a bit of a freak in terms of his athleticism, he has healed very quickly.'

[ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

The Redskins may have the best backup QB for any team in a championship window. Cousins can be a more than capable starter for the Redskins if Griffin isn't ready for the start of the regular season.

NE - TE Aaron Hernandez saga: woods, pond yield no evidence

Source: USA TODAY Sports - Kevin Manahan

Updating an ongoing story, six law-enforcement members from the Massachusetts State Police searched wooded areas on either of the street that leads into the development where New England Patriots TE Aaron Hernandez lives and found 'no evidence,' one of them said Monday, June 24. Another officer, who requested anonymity, said of the pond near the wooded area, 'That's already been cleared.'

[ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

Just because the pond has been allegedly cleared doesn't mean that Hernandez is. This saga is far from over.

MIN - Coach compares WR Cordarrelle Patterson to Randy Moss

Source: Minneapolis Star Tribune - Dan Wiederer

Former University of Tennessee assistant coach Charlie Baggett said he believes Minnesota Vikings WR Cordarrelle Patterson's speed and athleticism compares favorably to free-agent WR Randy Moss (49ers). 'I don't want people misinterpreting me as saying Cordarrelle is better or will be better than Randy Moss,' Baggett said. 'When it comes to everything else that's needed to be an elite NFL receiver, he has a long way to go to reach Randy. But he definitely has that ability. He really does.'

[ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

Their speed and athleticism may be similar but their on field skill sets are quite different. Moss was a speedster who could take the top off the defense in a hurry. Patterson uses his size, speed, and aggression to work underneath routes where his run after the catch ability shines. We like Patterson as a WR4/5 with upside in 2013. His ADP is WR52 and he's coming off the board at 12.05 in 12 team fantasy leagues.

PHI - RB LeSean McCoy does not have preference in QB race

Source: Philadelphia Daily News - John Murrow

Philadelphia Eagles RB LeSean McCoy said it does not matter whether QB Michael Vick or QB Nick Foles win the starting quarterback job as long as he keeps getting his carries. 'That's why they pay [head coach Chip Kelly] the big bucks to pick the quarterback. [Vick and Foles] both look good and whoever he picks, I am fine with. As long as I get my carries, I don't care who it is,' McCoy said.

[ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

The offense is going to have a different look depending on which QB wins the starting job. If Vick wins the job then we'll see an offense similar to what Kelly ran at Oregon featuring inside zone read and a moving pocket. If Foles wins the job then we'll see multiple TE sets and a more traditional pocket passing offense. We'd like to see McCoy in that inside zone read offense.

NYJ - QB Geno Smith thinks he has made progress

Source: NFL.com - Dan Hanzus

New York Jets QB Geno Smith said he believes he has made good progress in his development since he joined the team. 'I've already made a giant leap,' Smith said. 'Coming from a spread system where the biggest transition for me is going to be the footwork. It's not as if I can't do it, it's the fact that I haven't done it enough. The good amount of reps that I got in rookie camp, minicamp, OTAs has helped me make that leap and transition, and make giant strides.'

[ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

Smith is competing with veteran Mark Sanchez for the starting job. Both have been struggling this offseason but Sanchez may have a leg up in the competition because of his experience. Even if Smith doesn't win the job in training camp we wouldn't be surprised to see him in the starting lineup at some point during the regular season.

NFL - RB Vonta Leach not in a rush to sign - Dolphins The Favorite?

Source: New York Daily News - Ralph Vacchiano

Free-agent FB Vonta Leach (Ravens) said during a radio interview that he is not in a hurry to sign with a team because teams will not start practicing until next month.

[ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

Our friend Adam Schefter of ESPN tweeted this today: "It will be a major upset if former Ravens FB Vonta Leach winds up anywhere other than Miami. Dolphins want him too much."

Leach is still a quality Fullback who can blast open holes for any ground game he's added to. Teams like the Texans, Dolphins, Giants, and Ravens have shown interest in the veteran with many feeling the Dolphins are in the lead. We could see Leach added to a roster when we get closer to training camp.

CAR - RB Jonathan Stewart shoots down cancer report

Source: Twitter

Carolina Panthers RB Jonathan Stewart shot down a report that he was out indefinitely due to cancer. The report was later redacted and clarified as an error.

[ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

There have been some bizarre internet rumors in recent weeks. Rumors about Saints QB Drew Brees, Falcons WR Julio Jones, and now Stewart have all been going around but none are true.

TEN - Don't want QB Jake Locker to rely on wristband

Source: Nashville City Paper - David Boclair

Tennessee Titans offensive coordinator Dowell Loggains said he doesn't want QB Jake Locker to rely on a wristband when calling plays. 'My thing with the wristband is I believe the quarterback should know the gameplan well enough,' Loggains said. 'If the headset goes out, then he should be able to call the game. We'll use a wristband for emergencies only, but we won't call the plays in like we used to that way.'

[ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

Locker needs to prove himself this year. He's in a near make or break season as the team's starter. Locker needs to stay healthy and show that he can be the franchise QB the team envisioned when they selected him in the first-round of the 2011 NFL draft.

BAL - Still in mix for RB Vonta Leach

Source: The Baltimore Sun - Aaron Wilson

Ralph Vitolo, agent for free-agent FB Vonta Leach (Ravens), said Leach has not ruled out the possibility of re-signing with the Baltimore Ravens.

[ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

Leach was released when by the Ravens when the two sides couldn't come to terms on reducing his $3MM salary in 2013. The Ravens have already made him an offer -- reportedly $2MM plus incentives -- and staying in Baltimore could be his best bet. The Texans, Dolphins, and Giants have all shown interest in Leach as well.

WAS - Robert Griffin could improve on third downs

Source: The Washington Post - Mike Jones

Washington Redskins QB Robert Griffin III only completed 59 percent of his passes on third down last season and averaged 5.84 yards per pass on such plays. Griffin completed 66.5 percent of his passes on first down and 69.7 percent on second down.

[ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

The Redskins will look to make Griffin more comfortable on third-down situations this year. They won't go away from the read option even though Griffin is coming back from offseason knee surgery. We'll see if Griffin can be more efficient on third down in 2013.

CLE - WR Josh Gordon influenced by wrong people

Source: ESPNCleveland.com - Tony Grossi

Cleveland Browns WR Josh Gordon spent a good amount of time in Florida this offseason and started to hang out with the different crowd than normal. Gordon was influenced by the wrong people this offseason. Gordon has been suspended two games for testing positive for a banned substance.

[ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

Gordon released a statement after his suspension where he apologized to Browns' fans. He says he used a cough medicine containing codeine (a banned substance) while recovering from strep throat earlier this year in February.

NYG - Teammate hopes WR Victor Cruz talks move faster

Source: New York Post - Paul Schwartz

New York Giants DE Justin Tuck said he hopes contract extension talks with WR Victor Cruz move faster now that Cruz has signed his tender offer. 'I hope it does, Obviously everyone wants to see Victor back, he's a huge part of our success and he will be moving forward. I think he did the smart thing,' Tuck said.

[ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

Cruz lost leverage in his contract negotiations when he signed his RFA tender. The Giants could fine him if he holds out during training camp. Cruz is expected to report on time and may be seeking a contract with $15-$18MM in guaranteed money.

DET - WR Brian Robiskie cut

Source: DetroitLions.com - Tim Twentyman

The Detroit Lions have released WR Brian Robiskie.

[ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

Robiskie has now been cut twice this offseason. He may be at the end of his pro career, but could always go into coaching like his dad Terry Robiskie.

IND - WR LaVon Brazill suspended

Source: Terre Haute Tribune-Star - Tom James

The NFL has suspended WR LaVon Brazill for the first four games of the regular season for violating the league's substance abuse policy.

[ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

Brazill is a fast downfield target who flashed as a rookie for the Colts last year. The team is moving away from the vertical Bruce Arians system and will have a West Coast offense under new OC Pep Hamilton. Brazill is eligible to return in week five but it will be interesting to see how he's used in this system. The second-year WR will be able to work with the team during training camp and the preseason.

NE - WR Julian Edelman has chance to make roster

Source: ESPNBoston.com - Field Yates

New England Patriots WR Julian Edelman has a good chance to win a roster spot during training camp if he is able to stay healthy. Edelman has shown chemistry with QB Tom Brady in the past.

[ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

Edelman is the only WR left on the roster who recorded a catch for the Patriots last year. He's got good chemistry with Tom Brady and could be an interesting player to keep an eye on. However, Edelman is still recovering from a foot injury he suffered last year. He's never played a full 16 game season during his pro career.

HOU - Three RBs expected to compete for roster spot

Source: CSNHouston.com - Dave Zangaro

Houston Texans RBs Cierre Wood, Deji Karim and Dennis Johnson are expected to compete for one roster spot during training camp.

[ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

Wood is an interesting option here and one to keep an eye on in deep dynasty leagues. He's a good all-around runner with vision to find cutback lanes and the foot frequency to make cuts at speed.

KC - QB Tyler Bray could be practice squad option

Source: ESPN.com - Bill Williamson

The Kansas City Chiefs could look to sign QB Tyler Bray to their practice squad if he does not beat QB Ricky Stanzi for the No. 3 quarterback job.

[ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

It's not a good sign for Bray's pro prospects if he can't beat out Stanzi for the QB3 job behind Alex Smith and Chase Daniel. Bray has a rocket arm but maturity and attitude issues caused him to fall undrafted this year. We'll see if he can put those problems behind him and start developing now that he's a pro.

NYG - Brandon Collins suspended

Source: Los Angeles Times - Sam Farmer

The NFL has suspended New York Giants WR Brandon Collins has been suspended for the first four games of the regular season for violating the league's drug policy.

[ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

Collins spent last season on the Giants' practice squad. This suspension won't help his chances of making the final 53-man roster for the Giants this season.

MIA - RB Lamar Miller blocking well

Source: The Miami Herald - Barry Jackson

Miami Dolphins head coach Joe Philbin said RB Lamar Miller has improved as a pass blocker.

[ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

Great news for the Dolphins here. Miller is set to be the team's starter but needs to prove himself in pass protection. Even QB Ryan Tannehill has commented on Miller's improved skill set.

NYG - DE Justin Tuck not focused on his contract

Source: ESPNNewYork.com - Ohm Youngmisuk

New York Giants DE Justin Tuck said he is not worried about his contract situation, and will not let that dictate his play in 2013. 'I am not going to allow this whole circumstance to put pressure on me to perform,' he said of his contract year. 'I put enough pressure on myself to perform. I am not even thinking about contract-wise. I don't care if I come out in the first three games [and] I have 10 sacks. ... I don't want to hear about contract at all. That is not my focus.'

[ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

Tuck said he feels like he is in terrific shape, and feels better than he has in a long time. 'For whatever reason it is, I feel more alive in a football sense than I have in a long time,' Tuck said at an appearance at the Big Daddy Celebrity Golf Classic at Oheka Castle. 'And that is a huge motivation for me this year.'

MIN - OLB Erin Henderson could start at OLB

Source: 1500ESPN.com - Judd Zulgad

Minnesota Vikings LB Erin Henderson could start at weakside linebacker this season if the team decides middle linebacker is a better fit for LB Desmond Bishop.

[ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

That seems like the best scenario for the Vikings. Bishop was a great addition if he's fully recovered from the hamstring injury that cost him all of last season.

SD - Manti Te'o says he has not been teased

Source: NFL.com - Dan Hanzus

San Diego Chargers LB Manti Te'o said he has not been teased by his teammates this offseason for his personal off-field issues. 'No, lucky for me I'm surrounded by guys in San Diego who really care about football and really care about winning and they really care about people,' Te'o said. 'And for me as a rookie, I just keep my head down and keep working and keep my head in the playbook so I don't give them a reason to yell at me or give them a reason to not like me.'

[ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

Te'o wants to put the whole 'Catfish' thing behind him and the quickest way to do that is play well. He's got upside as a pro but needs to prove that he'll be a three-down player by improving his coverage skills. If Te'o becomes a star this story will become a footnote.

CIN - DE Carlos Dunlap could be extension candidate

Source: ESPN.com - Jamison Hensley

The Cincinnati Bengals could consider signing DE Carlos Dunlap to a contract extension at some point this season.

[ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

The team has to make some interesting decisions on the defensive side of the ball. It sounds like 2013 franchise tagged Michael Johnson could be somewhere else next season. At this time there doesn't seem to be any hurry with signing DT Geno Atkins to a long-term deal. Dunlap was a part time player last year and is looking for an expanded role this season. He has been working as the Bengals' starting left end at OTAs this offseason.

MIN - ILB Desmond Bishop agrees to terms

Source: ProFootballTalk.com

The Minnesota Vikings have agreed to terms with free-agent LB Desmond Bishop (Packers). Bishop agreed to a one-year deal worth around $1.5 million. The deal could be worth as much as $2 million based in incentives.

[ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

Bishop will compete for jobs at middle linebacker and weakside linebacker this season. It's a strong move for the Vikings if Bishop's hamstring injury is cleared up. He missed all of last season due to a severe hamstring injury but still has the ability to be one of the best inside linebackers in the game today. Bishop is smart, finds the ball quickly, and is known as a sound tackler.
