NE - Surgery Tuesday for TE Rob Gronkowski

Source: ESPN - Adam Schefter

New England Patriots TE Rob Gronkowski (back) is scheduled to undergo back surgery Tuesday, June 18, in Los Angeles, according to sources.

[ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

We all knew this was coming but it's still a scary proposition anytime "back" and "surgery" are in the same sentence. Keep a close eye on how Gronkowski progresses here. You know we'll be watching him closely for you. As of today, here are the detailed stat projections for the entire New England team.

NYJ - TE Kellen Winslow expected to compete for starting job

Source: New York Daily News - Seth Walder

New York Jets TE Kellen Winslow is expected to be a candidate for the starting tight end job during training camp because of his past success.

[ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

Winslow is no lock to make the final roster. He's feeling confident and is thankful for the opportunity the Jets have given him. Winslow is not the same player he used to be but may be able to beat out Jeff Cumberland for the starting job.

NYG - WR Victor Cruz signs tender

Source: ESPNNewYork.com - Ohm Youngmisuk

New York Giants restricted free-agent WR Victor Cruz has signed his one-year tender offer and will make $2.879 million this season. Cruz said the two sides will continue to discuss a long-term deal.

[ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

The Giants could have reduced Cruz's one-year tender to the veteran minimum of $630,000 on Monday had he not signed. We don't think he's going anywhere and the star WR should get the long-term deal he's looking for in the near future.

NYG - WR Victor Cruz could still hold out

Source: ProFootballTalk.com - Mike Florio

New York Giants restricted free-agent WR Victor Cruz could still hold out training camp even though he will sign his tender offer. Cruz could be fined $30,000 per day if he does not report to training camp.

[ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

This is unlikely. Cruz would lose an accrued year if he doesn't report 30 days before the season opener. That would make him a restricted free agent again in 2014. The two sides are working on a long-term deal and something could be agreed upon in the near future.

IND - RB Ahmad Bradshaw expected to start

Source: The Indianapolis Star - Mike Chappell

Indianapolis Colts RB Ahmad Bradshaw (foot) is expected to start once he is recovered from foot surgery he had this offseason.

[ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

Bradshaw is still coming back from this surgery and may begin camp on the PUP list. The team will be cautious with him as he could start for the Colts in week one of the regular season. He's going to compete with Vick Ballard to be the team's starter in 2013.

NYJ - RB Joe McKnight says No. 1 RB not decided

Source: ESPNNewYork.com - Matt Ehalt

New York Jets RB Joe McKnight said none of the running backs won the starting running back job during offseason workouts and the competition will be decided during training camp. McKnight is expected to compete for RBs Chris Ivory, Mike Goodson and Bilal Powell for the starting job with Ivory considered the favorite at this point.

[ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

We'd be shocked if McKnight wins the starting job. In fact, he may be on the roster bubble. McKnight has never lived up to the hype with the Jets or even dating back to his days at USC. The starter is likely to be Ivory with Goodson and Powell competing to be the primary backups.

GB - Brett Favre expects QB Aaron Rodgers to break records

Source: FOXSportsWisconsin.com - Paul Imig

Retired QB Brett Favre said he believes Green Bay Packers QB Aaron Rodgers will be able to break all of his team records if he is able to stay healthy. 'Barring any injury, (Rodgers) will shatter everything I did there, except for maybe the consecutive games (streak),' Favre said. 'The guy has been tremendous. Great move on their part.'

[ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

Favre's a guy people love to both love and hate. But this is a class move by Favre and it's good to see him trying to mend some fences with the Packers. There will be a day in the future where he's welcomed back to Lambeau Field to see his number retired with the team. And with regard to Rodgers breaking the records, he's right.

BAL - Not ruling out RB Vonta Leach return

Source: South Florida Sun-Sentinel - Omar Kelly

Baltimore Ravens general manager Ozzie Newsome has not ruled out the possibility of re-signing free-agent FB Vonta Leach.

[ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

Leach could stick with the team if the price is right. He's one of the best blocking backs in the league and is getting some interest on the open market.

MIA - Make offer to RB Vonta Leach

Source: South Florida Sun-Sentinel - Omar Kelly

The Miami Dolphins have made an offer to free-agent FB Vonta Leach (Ravens), but Leach will take his time before deciding who to sign with.

[ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

Adding Leach would be a boost for the Dolphins' ground game. They'll use Lamar Miller as their starter and getting Leach to bust open holes would help Miller's production level.

ATL - TE Tony Gonzalez allowed to skip minicamp

Source: AtlantaFalcons.com - Jay Adams

Atlanta Falcons head coach Mike Smith said TE Tony Gonzalez has been excused from participating in the team's mandatory minicamp next week.

[ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

No concern here. The future Hall of Fame TE is a seasoned veteran and doesn't need every single rep in camp.

BUF - QB EJ Manuel signed

Source: The Buffalo News - Mark Gaughan

Buffalo Bills QB EJ Manuel, the No. 16 overall pick in the 2013 NFL Draft, has signed a contract, according to an announcement from the team. Terms were not disclosed, but the deal is expected to be worth about $8.9 million over four years. The deal brings all eight of the Bills' 2013 draft picks under contract.

[ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

Manuel was the top QB off the board in this year's draft and will compete with veteran Kevin Kolb to be the team's starter in 2013. He's big, strong, athletic, and has a strong arm. Manuel is known as a football junkie and has been praised for his work ethic and dedication to the game. Even if he doesn't win the starting job in training camp we'll likely see him in the lineup at some point this season.

CHI - Want QB Jay Cutler to get ball out quicker

Source: ESPNChicago.com - Jeff Dickerson

Chicago Bears quarterbacks coach Matt Cavanaugh said the team wants QB Jay Cutler to throw the ball quicker in order to avoid some sacks. 'We've stressed that we want the ball out. There's a rhythm to what we do. He appreciates that, and he knows if he's getting the ball out he's not getting hit. We're all involved in it and everybody is responsible for it. Since we said Day 1 that's our No. 1 goal, we've got to live up to it and make sure we are not holding onto the ball forever,' Cavanaugh said.

[ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

Things are shaping up nicely for Cutler in 2013. The team added more weapons in the passing game like TE Martellus Bennett and also upgraded the offensive line this offseason. Cutler is going to be protected better and will have more options to throw to. Under new head coach Marc Trestman we could see Cutler perform like he did back in Denver. Cutler is a value QB and can be a target if you wait at the position. His current ADP is QB19 and he's coming off the board at 12.02.

ARI - Looking for consistency from WR LaRon Byrd

Source: AZCardinals.com - Darren Urban

Arizona Cardinals head coach Bruce Arians said WR LaRon Byrd did not impress him much during minicamp because he was too inconsistent. 'He had a couple nice catches that were unbelievable throws. (But) he's too inconsistent right now. He has talent and a good future, but he's got to get more consistent,' Arians said.

[ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

Byrd is an intriguing prospect to keep an eye on in super deep dynasty leagues. He has a large frame, wingspan, and vertical leap to be a dangerous downfield target. It sounds like he needs to be more consistent if he wants to make the final roster in 2013.

ARI - Hope WR Ryan Swope will be ready for camp

Source: AZCardinals.com - Darren Urban

Arizona Cardinals head coach Bruce Arians said he hopes WR Ryan Swope (head) will be ready for training camp. Swope has missed some offseason workouts because of reported concussion-like symptoms.

[ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

These concussion problems are a real concern. Swope is incredibly talented and can be a QBs best friend because of his strong hands and crisp routes. We love his natural ability but he needs to get and stay healthy in order to play up to his potential.

BAL - WR Tandon Doss does well during workouts

Source: The Baltimore Sun - Matt Vensel

Baltimore Ravens WR Tandon Doss looked quicker during minicamp than he was last season and appears to be playing with more confidence. He could compete for a starting job if he continues to make plays during training camp.

[ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

Doss is one of a group of receivers competing for the starting job opposite Torrey Smith. Some feel Deonte Thompson is the frontrunner here but we'll have to wait until training camp to see the pecking order. Doss, Thompson, and Jacoby Jones are all competing for the Ravens' WR2 spot.

PHI - QB Matt Barkley likely still in QB competition

Source: CSNPhilly.com - Geoff Mosher

Philadelphia Eagles QB Matt Barkley showed good command in the huddle and had the arm strength to make several difficult throws during minicamp. Barkley will still be a candidate for the starting quarterback job when training camp starts.

[ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

We would be surprised to see Barkley win the starting job or even see the field much in 2013. He's a developmental prospect that has to prove he can run the Chip Kelly system. Michael Vick and Nick Foles are the primary candidates to win the starting job this season and Barkley is third in that race.

NE - WR Aaron Dobson could compete for No. 2 WR job

Source: ESPNBoston.com - Mike Reiss and Field Yates

New England Patriots WR Aaron Dobson could be a candidate for the No. 2 wide receiver job if he can be more consistent during training camp.

[ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

Right now it looks like Michael Jenkins is impressing as the team's WR2 opposite Danny Amendola. That could change in training camp if Dobson gets more consistency to his game.

NE - RB LeGarrette Blount could make roster

Source: ESPNBoston.com - Mike Reiss and Field Yates

New England Patriots RB LeGarrette Blount could make the final roster if he becomes a dependable short-yardage back during training camp.

[ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

The addition of Blount could put a guy like Brandon Bolden on the roster bubble. Blount has a 1,000 yard season on his resume and gives the Patriots valuable insurance and experience on the depth chart.

ARI - Expect RB Stepfan Taylor to catch up

Source: The Arizona Republic - Kent Somers

Arizona Cardinals head coach Bruce Arians said he expects RB Stepfan Taylor to be able to catch up during training camp after he was unable to take part in offseason workouts because Stanford was still in school. Taylor will spend some time with time with running backs coach Stump Mitchell next week.

[ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

Taylor is an interesting rookie RB to watch. He's a versatile player with good size, smooth moves in the open field, and good receiving ability. He's competing as the third RB on the depth chart behind Rashard Mendenhall and Ryan Williams.

HOU - WR DeAndre Hopkins impresses

Source: Houston Chronicle - Tania Ganguli

Houston Texans WR DeAndre Hopkins impressed head coach Gary Kubiak in minicamp. 'I've been impressed. He struggled early - which we knew he would - but I think it helps when you throw a guy in with the ones right away because he gets coached by (Matt) Schaub,' Kubiak said. 'But the last three days he's impressed me because he hasn't had Matt and he hasn't had Andre (Johnson) out here and he's been on top of what he's doing. He's obviously very gifted. We've just got to make sure we've got him doing what he does best.'

[ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

Hopkins has star potential and the Texans finally added a quality receiver to start opposite Andre Johnson. Many in the scouting community compared Hopkins to Reggie Wayne (Colts) because of his concentratin, strong hands, and body control. Hopkins has a current ADP of WR42 and he's coming off the board at 10.12 in 12 team PPR leagues.

SF - WR Quinton Patton impresses

Source: Santa Rosa Press Democrat - Grant Cohn

San Francisco 49ers head coach Jim Harbaugh said rookie WR Quinton Patton (Louisiana Tech) really elevated himself at minicamp.

[ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

Good news for the rookie here. Patton is a good athlete who can get open with ease. He was extremely productive in college and can be a QBs best friend because he's consistent. Last we heard Patton was struggling with tipping off his routes in 49ers rookie minicamp. It sounds like that issue is getting resolved. Patton is competing with 2012 first-round pick A.J. Jenkins to be the team's WR2 starting opposite Anquan Boldin in 2013.

NYJ - CB Kyle Wilson performs well during workouts

Source: ESPNNewYork.com - Matt Ehalt

New York Jets head coach Rex Ryan said he was impressed with how CB Kyle Wilson performed during offseason workouts. 'This is the best camp he's had and it's not close. I've been proud of the way he's come into these OTAs and the way he's competing,' Ryan said. 'The other thing about Kyle, mentally he's a sharp guy as well. He can work inside and outside and we'll play him in both spots.' Wilson worked mostly as the nickel back during the workouts but could compete with CB Dee Milliner for a starting job.

[ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

Wilson is likely to be the team's nickel corner in 2013. The Jets selected Milliner in the first-round of the 2013 NFL draft and he should be the starter opposite Antonio Cromartie when the regular season begins.
