WAS - Sign WR Devery Henderson

Source: ESPN - Adam Schefter

The Washington Redskins have signed free-agent WR Devery Henderson (Saints). Terms of the deal were not disclosed.

[ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

Henderson is a downfield target with the speed to get by the defense in the blink of an eye. His hands are inconsistent and he needs better concentration in order to play up to his potential. He's veteran depth in the WR corps but his roster spot is not guaranteed.

NE - WR Danny Amendola clearly No. 1 receiver

Source: ESPNBoston.com - Field Yates

New England Patriots WR Danny Amendola has established himself as the team's No. 1 wide receiver by his performance during offseason workouts. He is shifty, quick and dynamic with the ball in space. He has also shown enough speed to stress a defense vertically. Amendola appears to have a clear rapport with QB Tom Brady.

[ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

No surprise here. Amendola is taking the place of Wes Welker (Broncos) and should be in line for well over 100 targets in 2013. He needs to prove that he can stay healthy in order to play up to his enormous potential. The Patriots are going to heavily rely on Amendola this season.

DET - RB Reggie Bush briefly leaves practice with injury

Source: The Oakland Press - Paula Pasche

Detroit Lions RB Reggie Bush (ankle) tweaked his ankle during practice Wednesday, June 12, but was able to return.

[ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

The team will be cautious with Bush here. He's set to be the team's leading rusher and receiver out of the backfield in 2013. Bush's skill set is perfect for the Lions high powered offense.

NYJ - QB Geno Smith could be used for read-option plays

Source: NFL.com - Gregg Rosenthal

New York Jets head coach Rex Ryan said the team can use QB Geno Smith on some read-option plays if he does not win the starting quarterback job during training camp. Ryan said he believes Smith has the skill set to run those plays even though he did not do much of it during college.

[ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

We heard this last year too. The team was supposed to use some read option with Tim Tebow. We'll see if that actually happens this year with Smith. At some point this season we should see Smith as the starter.

SF - HC talks up WR A.J. Jenkins

Source: ESPN - Adam Schefter

San Francisco 49ers head coach Jim Harbaugh praised WR A.J. Jenkins Tuesday, June 11, for his work so far this offseason. 'A.J. had his best week of football since he's been a 49ers the last four days of OTAs,' Harbaugh said.

[ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

Jenkins failed to record a catch last year even though the team selected him in the first-round of the 2012 NFL draft. He's added muscle this offseason to help him beat the jam at the line of scrimmage. Jenkins struggles to get separation and has a lot of room for improvement this year.

NYJ - More on QB struggles

Source: New York Post - Brian Costello

New York Jets QB coach David Lee said QB Geno Smith's adjustment from his West Virginia to this West Coast offense has been a struggle. '[He's] just struggling with basic things, snap count at the line of scrimmage, delivery in the huddle can be more consistent. Little things are really what's killing him, but he's competed well and he's shown us he's got a really good arm.' Lee said, however, that he expects Smith to be ready to go by September.

[ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

Smith is competing for the starting job with veteran Mark Sanchez. He's got the athleticism to keep plays alive with his feet while keeping his eyes downfield. Smith is incredibly intelligent and should be able to get up to speed quickly.

STL - New-look offense developing

Source: ESPN.com - Mike Sando

St. Louis Rams QB Sam Bradford is working with the same offensive coordinator in consecutive seasons for the first time in his career, but plenty has changed about the team's offense. With RB Steven Jackson gone, offensive coordinator Brian Schottenheimer will now run the O through Bradford while trying to bust more big plays. 'The speed that we have acquired and what we have on the outside now -- and even the inside -- it suits us more to spread it out and play more one-back this year,' Bradford said. He also thinks defenses will have to design specific coverages for some of the speed weapons, a reversal from St. Louis' more predictable offense last season.

[ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

This is an exciting offense to watch for fantasy owners. It's going to be a high powered offense with the addition of several weapons this offseason. The team also upgraded the O-Line this offseason when they added Jake Long in free agency.

WAS - Donte' Stallworth signed

Source: ESPN - Adam Schefter

The Washington Redskins have signed free-agent WR Donte' Stallworth (Patriots). Terms of the contract were not disclosed.

[ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

Stallworth only caught one pass last year during his time with the Patriots. In 2011 he caught 22 passes for 309 yards and two touchdowns with the Redskins. The veteran WR isn't the same player he used to be and his roster spot is not guaranteed.

JAX - WR Justin Blackmon dealing with injury

Source: The Associated Press - Mark Long

Jacksonville Jaguars WR Justin Blackmon (groin) said he is still dealing with a left groin injury. Blackmon appeared to have some issues during practice Wednesday, June 12.

[ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

Blackmon has a four-game suspension for violating the league's substance abuse policy. He's got plenty of time to let this injury heal. Blackmon is available to practice in training camp and play in the preseason games. His suspension begins the first week of the regular season.

PIT - No depth chart for RBs

Source: Pittsburgh Tribune-Review - Mark Kaboly

Pittsburgh Steelers running backs coach Kirby Wilson said the team does not really have a running back depth chart at this point. 'There really is no pecking order other than thatís how we ended the season. Guys are jumping in accordingly and rotating themselves. There really is no rhyme or reason to it,' Wilson said. RB Jonathan Dwyer will enter training camp as No. 1 on the depth chart because he finished last season there.

[ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

We'd expect to see rookie Le'Veon Bell (Michigan State) win the starting job at some point this year. Bell is a big runner who can be difficult to bring down when he's at full speed. He's got good footwork and moves in the open field to make people miss.

NYG - Reach out to RB Vonta Leach

Source: The Star-Ledger - Dave Hutchinson

The New York Giants reached out to free-agent FB Vonta Leach (Ravens) Tuesday, June 11, according to a person with knowledge of the discussion. Leach was released by the Baltimore Ravens Tuesday.

[ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

The move would make a lot of sense for the Giants. This would help replace FB Henry Hynoski who is coming back from a knee injury. TE Bear Pascoe has been playing FB as the team expects Hynoski to be ready for the start of the regular season. Leach is one of the best lead blockers in the game today and won't be out of work for long.

OAK - RB Latavius Murray sidelined

Source: Contra Costa Times - Steve Corkran

Oakland Raiders RB Latavius Murray (foot) has been sidelined during team workouts due to a sore foot.

[ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

No word how severe this foot injury is but the team will be careful with the rookie as he deals with this. Murray has an upright running style, swift moves in the open field, and is tough to bring down when he builds a head of steam. With the injury history of starter Darren McFadden we should see Murray get some significant playing time in 2013. He's competing with veteran Rashad Jennings to be the primary backup.

STL - Expected to use committee backfield

Source: ESPN.com - Mike Sando

St. Louis Rams offensive coordinator Brian Schottenheimer said the team is expected to use a committee approach in the backfield this year between Daryl Richardson, Isaiah Pead and Zac Stacy. The overall youth in the backfield is a concern in terms of pass protection. Stacy caught the ball well during a practice session Tuesday, June 11.

[ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

An important note for fantasy owners. Pead is missing one game due to violating the league's substance abuse policy. Richardson is the speedy back from Abilene Christian who can make big plays in space. Stacy is the rookie (Vanderbilt) who can grind defenses down between the tackles. Watch to see how this battle shakes out during training camp.

CHI - WR Alshon Jeffery sits out practice

Source: ESPNChicago.com - Michael C. Wright

Chicago Bears WR Alshon Jeffery (hamstring) did not participate in practice Wednesday, June 12, as a precaution.

[ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

The team is going to be cautious here as hamstring injuries are known to linger if not treated properly. Jeffery suffered a minor hamstring injury during organized team activities last week. He'll be in for a big role this season as the team's WR2 starting opposite Brandon Marshall.

CHI - WR Brandon Marshall misses practice

Source: ESPNChicago.com - Michael C. Wright

Chicago Bears WR Brandon Marshall (hip) did not participate in practice Wednesday, June 12, because the team wants to be careful with him since he is recovering from hip surgery.

[ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

Marshall did participate in practice on Tuesday and they're not going to overuse him this offseason. The team fully expects Marshall to be ready for the start of training camp.

TB - Close to extension with WR Mike Williams

Source: Tampa Bay Times - Rick Stroud

Tampa Bay Buccaneers WR Mike Williams said he is very close to signing a contract extension with the team.

[ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

Bucs GM Mark Dominik said he would like to get a deal done with Williams before the start of training camp. Williams works well as a big play option opposite WR1 Vincent Jackson. He's established a good rapport with QB Josh Freeman and we like him as a WR3 with upside this year. His current ADP is WR41 and he's coming off the board at 10.10 in 12 team PPR leagues.

MIA - RB Vonta Leach will visit Wednesday

Source: ESPN - Adam Schefter

Free-agent FB Vonta Leach (Ravens) is scheduled to fly to South Florida to visit with the Miami Dolphins Wednesday, June 12. The team still has about $17 million in cap space. Leach was released by the Baltimore Ravens Tuesday, June 11.

[ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

Leach won't be out of work for too long. He's one of the best lead blockers in the game today and can help blast open holes for any ground game. Adding him would boost the potential rushing yards for starter Lamar Miller.

SF - Two linemen out until camp

Source: San Jose Mercury News - Cam Inman

San Francisco 49ers DE Cornellius Carradine (knee) and DE Quinton Dial (toe) will not participate until the start of training camp.

[ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

Carradine is the talented rookie from Florida State and he can be a quality pass rusher and run stuffer for the team. He suffered a knee injury late last season and is still rehabbing at this time.
