KC - RB Charles says new offense 'best thing that ever happened' to him

Source: Adam Teicher - Kansas City Star

Kansas City Chiefs RB Jamaal Charles is excited about the new Andy Reid offense. "This offense might be the best thing that ever happened to me,” Charles said. “I think this offense will get me open. They’re going to throw me the ball more. I think I’ll continue to stack Pro Bowls on Pro Bowls if I can stay healthy."

[ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

Fantasy owners are excited about Charles in this new system as well. His current ADP is RB4 and he's coming off the board within the first five picks of most fantasy drafts. We'll see rookie Knile Davis (Arkansas) be a power change of pace back for the Chiefs, but Charles could easily surpass 1,500 yards rushing again this season.

NO - TE Jimmy Graham feels healthy

Source: New Orleans Times-Picayune - Larry Holder

New Orleans Saints TE Jimmy Graham (wrist) feels like he is back to 100 percent after enduring a wrist injury in 2012 which lingered for most of the season. He was wearing a small brace on his wrist during offseason practices to make sure nothing happened.

[ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

Great news for Saints fans and Graham's fantasy owners here. With the injuries to Rob Gronkowski and Aaron Hernandez (Patriots), Graham is the safest elite TE to take near the top of your draft. His current ADP is TE1 and he's coming off the board at 2.11 in 12 team non-PPR leagues.

NYJ - Cumberland looks to be starting TE

Source: Connor Orr - Star-Ledger

New York Jets TE Jeff Cumberland looks to be the leader for the starting TE position. The team lost Dustin Keller (Dolphins) in free agency and are looking to fill his spot in 2013. Cumberland has worked his way up the depth chart since being an undrafted free agent in 2010.

[ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

Cumberland could begin the season as the starter but isn't an exciting fantasy option. However, deep dynasty league owners should keep an eye on Hayden Smith. The former rugby and college basketball player has an interesting skill set and high developmental upside.

CLE - RB Trent Richardson to start running program soon

Source: The Cleveland Plain Dealer - Mary Kay Cabot

Cleveland Browns RB Trent Richardson (leg) is scheduled to begin a running program in two weeks. Richardson was held out of minicamp because of his leg injury but did not need to undergo an MRI on his leg.

[ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

The team is hopeful Richardson will be near full strength by the start of training camp. Richardson has huge upside but will need to stay healthy in order to play up to his potential. He's a perfect fit for the new Norv Turner offense.

CLE - WR Josh Gordon's next suspension could be one year

Source: The Cleveland Plain Dealer - Mary Kay Cabot

Cleveland Browns WR Josh Gordon could face a one-year suspension if he fails another drug test because he has failed two drug tests.

[ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

Gordon was just handed a two-game suspension by the league, but this was his second violation. A third violation would be much more severe. He's likely in Stage 3 of the NFL's drug program which means a year suspension is possible if he fails another test.

NYJ - QB Mark Sanchez could be Week 1 starter

Source: ESPNNewYork.com - Rich Cimini

New York Jets QB Mark Sanchez could win the starting quarterback because QB Geno Smith has not been very impressive during organized team activities. Smith could have a chance to start if he plays well during the preseason.

[ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

Sanchez may be the starter at the beginning of the season but many expect Smith to take over at some point during the year. It's a make or break year for Sanchez and this could be his last season with the Jets if he doesn't get his confidence back and start playing up to his potential in 2013.

NO - Two WRs trying to impress

Source: New Orleans Times-Picayune - Larry Holder

New Orleans Saints WRs Jarred Fayson and Andy Tanner are a pair of receivers who have spent plenty of time on NFL practice squads, and are trying to make the 53-man roster. Both receivers reportedly have been consistent during offseason workouts, and they have found ways to free themselves up in the secondary. WR Kenny Stills, a fifth-round pick in the 2013 NFL Draft, has yet to stand out. All three might be competing for the fifth receiver job.

[ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

Any Saints WR who makes the final roster is an interesting one to watch in dynasty leagues. That high powered passing game can make a startable fantasy option if injuries hit on the depth chart at the top. Monitor this battle closely as we enter training camp.

NO - WR Nick Toon to have bigger role?

Source: New Orleans Times-Picayune - Larry Holder

New Orleans Saints WR Nick Toon (foot) appears more comfortable in the offense despite missing all of his rookie season in 2012 due to a foot injury. He will be among those trying to beat out WR Joe Morgan for the No. 3 wide receiver duties.

[ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

Toon is a large target with a big wingspan and good 'my ball' mentality. He's not the most explosive player and needs to hone his route running in order to get open consistently at the pro level.

SD - Three wideouts working way up

Source: The San Diego Union-Tribune - Michael Gehlken

San Diego Chargers WRs Keenan Allen, Richard Goodman and Robert Meachem did not rotate as starters during organized team activities (OTAs), but they are very much in the picture and pushing for roster spots behind WRs Danario Alexander, Vincent Brown, Malcom Floyd and Eddie Royal.

[ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

Allen could push for the starting slot WR job as we get closer to training camp. Currently the team is using Eddie Royal in that role. Allen is much more talented and a dangerous weapon after the catch when healthy.

SD - WR Eddie Royal working in slot

Source: The San Diego Union-Tribune - Michael Gehlken

San Diego Chargers WR Eddie Royal has been working as the team's top slot option during offseason workouts.

[ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

Royal was a disappointment as a free agent addition last year and some think he's on the roster bubble. The Chargers would save $1.5MM against the cap if they let Royal go. We expect rookie Keenan Allen (California) to push Royal for the slot job in training camp.

NE - TE Sudfeld appreciates his opportunity

Source: Ben Volin - Boston Globe

New England Patriots undrafted rookie TE Zach Sudfeld (Nevada) appreciates the opportunity he's been given in minicamp. With Rob Gronkowski ailing and Jake Ballard coming off a torn ACL, Sudfeld seems like a good bet to crack the Patriots’ 53-man roster according to the Boston Globe.

[ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

Our Cecil Lammey came away impressed by Sudfeld when he watched him during the week of practice for the Shrine Game earlier this year. Sudfeld is known as a quality blocker and an underrated receiver. He fell to the ranks of the undrafted because of durability concerns. With all the injuries to the TEs in New England fantasy owners in deep leagues need Sudfeld's name on their waiver wire speed dial.

SEA - Want to get Tate the ball more?

Source: Bob Condotta - Seattle Times

Seattle Seahawks WR Golden Tate may be in for a bigger role this season. Head coach Pete Carroll recently commented on Tate. “Golden is really ready to be a terrific football player. We love what he does, and we just have to get him the ball more and spread it around to him." Carrol said.

[ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

Interesting note for fantasy owners here. With the addition of Percy Harvin we should see more coverage roll away from Tate. He's entering the final year of his contract and may not have peaked at the pro level. Tate's current ADP is WR68 and he's coming off the board in the middle of round 14 in most 12 team leagues.

NO - Cadet working exclusively at RB

Source: Larry Holder - New Orleans Times-Picayune

New Orleans Saints RB Travaris Cadet is working at RB with the third team in OTAs as opposed to last season when he was bounced between RB and WR. Cadet has been standing out as a receiver out of the backfield.

[ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

Cadet is an interesting prospect to keep an eye on in deep dynasty PPR leagues. We like his low center of gravity and change of direction ability. The Saints have been working Pierre Thomas and Darren Sproles with the first team while Mark Ingram has been working with the second team in OTAs.

STL - Givens looking for a wider role

Source: Joe Lyons - St. Louis Post-Dispatch

St. Louis Rams second-year WR Chris Givens is looking for a wider role in the offense this year. He was mainly a '9' route guy last year and was the team's primary deep threat. QB Sam Bradford has certainly noticed a difference. “I expect Chris to have a great year. He works extremely hard,’’ Bradford said. “Where last year he primarily played the ‘Z’ for us, now he’s also being asked to play inside. He’s being asked to go backside and play ‘X’. He’s a really, really smart football player; he understands our offense and I think by moving him to different spots in our offense, he’ll be able to run more routes.

[ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

Givens could be a key piece in the revamped Rams passing game. We like his deep speed and ball tracking ability. With rookie Tavon Austin (West Virginia) making plays underneath it should lead to plenty of single coverage for Givens to take advantage of. Givens has added muscle this offseason and appears ready to handle a full season's workload.

CLE - TE Jordan Cameron expected to be ready for camp

Source: The Cleveland Plain Dealer - Mary Kay Cabot

Cleveland Browns TE Jordan Cameron (hamstring, groin) is expected to be ready for training camp but could be limited at the start of camp. The Browns are counting on Cameron to be their starting tight end.

[ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

Good news for the Browns here. The team is going to use Cameron as their starting TE in 2013. He's been developing as a reserve player over the last couple of years and now it's his time to prove what he can do. Cameron is a converted basketball star from USC who only had 16 career receptions in college. We like him as a TE2 with upside this season.

PIT - WR Plaxico Burress thinks he can be factor in red zone

Source: Pittsburgh Post-Gazette - Ed Bouchette

Pittsburgh Steelers WR Plaxico Burress said he believes he can be a factor in the red zone because of his size. 'I know I can still play, I know I can dominate in the red zone,' Burress said. 'Just go out and play at a high percentage. In those one-on-one opportunities, just succeed at a high rate. I know I can. Being out there last year, I drew double coverage in the red zone without hardly playing, I think teams will have to respect that.'

[ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

Burress certainly can be a presence in the red zone. He's got the size, leaping ability, and wingspan to be a good red zone target. Burress also has good chemistry with QB Ben Roethlisberger. Even with his red zone ability we're not counting on Burress to have much of a fantasy impact this year.

NYJ - WR Mike Sims-Walker to take part in minicamp

Source: ESPN - Adam Schefter

The New York Jets have invited free-agent WR Mike Sims-Walker (Jaguars) to participate in their upcoming minicamp on a tryout basis.

[ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

The Jets have a banged up WR corps and that's why Sims-Walker is getting a tryout there. Santonio Holmes (foot) may be out until midway through training camp. Jets head coach Rex Ryan said he believes WRs Stephen Hill (knee), Jeremy Kerley (heel) and WR Clyde Gates (hamstring) will be able to participate the team's minicamp next week.

CAR - ILB Jon Beason ahead of schedule

Source: Panthers.com - Max Henson

Carolina Panthers LB Jon Beason (knee, shoulder) said he is ahead of schedule in his rehab from offseason knee and shoulder surgeries.

[ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

Beason lost his middle linebacker job to Luke Kuechly but is now competing for a starting spot on the outside. His goal is to be ready for training camp but he may be able to do some things during the team's upcoming minicamp.
