DAL - Rookie WR Williams progressing every day

Source: Dallas Morning News

Dallas Cowboys rookie WR Terrance Williams (Baylor) is turning heads at OTAs. Cowboys WR coach Derek Dooley says of Williams "Each day, what I'm proud of, he's getting a little bit better. He's still got a long way to go. It's a journey in the National Football League, especially at wide out, but I'm really proud of how he's progressing.

Williams has the ability to get on top of the defense in the blink of an eye. He's got deep speed and can track the ball over his shoulder. The rookie has upside in dynasty leagues but may be limited as a reserve receiver during his first season.

DET - WR Thomas more comfortable this year

Source: Tim Twentyman - DetroitLions.com

Detroit Lions WR Mike Thomas is focused on learning the offense this offseason. "I definitely feel a lot more comfortable with what's going on," Thomas said after an OTA practice last week. "Now it's just about competing and getting the reps in and getting familiar with all the things we do as receivers."

[ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

Thomas was added last year in a trade from the Jaguars before the trade deadline. He did little with the team last year but could be in for a bigger role in 2013. We'll see him get more playing time as the slot receiver if Ryan Broyles comes back slowly from last year's knee injury.

DET - Still taking with QB Matthew Stafford about extension

Source: Detroit Free Press - Dave Birkett

Detroit Lions president Tom Lewand said the team is still talking with QB Matthew Stafford about a contract extension, but the team will have to turn their focus on the season if a deal can be done by a certain point. 'We've still got some discussion to have, but at some point in time we'll either get a deal done or we'll focus on football,' Lewand said. 'It's a different dynamic when you have two years left on a contract versus one. Most of them get done with a year left. And we've worked through a lot of those issues and continue to do that, want to continue the dialogue. But at some point in time we'll either have a deal or we'll agree that the focus needs to be on what's going on on the field.'

[ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

Stafford still has two years left on his deal so there's no hurry to get something done. If he stays healthy and plays up to his potential then he could get a contract similar to what QBs like Joe Flacco and Tony Romo got earlier this year.

NYJ - TE Kellen Winslow will take part in minicamp

Source: ESPNNewYork.com - Rich Cimini

Free-agent TE Kellen Winslow (Patriots) will participate in the New York Jets' upcoming minicamp on a tryout basis.

[ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

Winslow is not the same player he used to be and has drawn little interest on the open market. The Jets have a need at the TE position after losing Dustin Keller (Dolphins) in free agency. Currently Jeff Cumberland is penciled in as their starter at the position.

KC - RB Knile Davis working as returner

Source: The Kansas City Star - Adam Teicher

Kansas City Chiefs RB Knile Davis has been working as a kick returner during organized team activities. He did not return any kickoffs during his college career.

[ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

Davis could be a quality return man if he's able to regain his speed. He worked through various injuries in college and needs to show that he's retained his speed post-injury. Davis is not overly creative in the open field and has relied on his speed to outrun angles.

KC - WR Donnie Avery dealing with ankle injury

Source: The Kansas City Star - Adam Teicher

Kansas City Chiefs WR Donnie Avery (ankle) has missed a majority of the organized team activities because of a high ankle sprain. He is expected to be ready for the start of training camp.

[ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

Avery is trying to win the team's slot receiver job in 2013. He's competing with guys like second-year WR Devon Wylie for that spot. We prefer Wylie here but his durability concern could prevent him from winning the job.

CIN - Looking to get ball to RB Giovani Bernard in space

Source: ESPN.com - Jamison Hensley

The Cincinnati Bengals would like to get the ball into RB Giovani Bernard's hands this season so he can make big plays. The team has been working on screen passes with Bernard during organized team activities.

[ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

Bernard is a big play back who can make people miss in the open field. It's wise to use him in space rather than grind him down between the tackles. Some think the rookie from North Carolina could beat out BenJarvus Green-Ellis for the starting job in training camp.

BUF - WR Robert Woods may be favorite for starting job

Source: ESPN.com - James Walker

Buffalo Bills WR Robert Woods may enter training camp as the favorite for the No. 2 wide receiver job. He has shown solid route running skills and good hands during organized team activities.

[ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

No surprise here. Woods is a great route runner with strong hands and concentration. He was a great pick in the 2013 NFL draft and should be able to start from day one. We'll see second-year WR T.J. Graham compete with rookie Marquise Goodwin (Texas) to be the team's slot receiver.
