CLE - RB Trent Richardson shut down until August

Source: ESPNCleveland.com - Will Burge

Cleveland Browns RB Trent Richardson (leg) has been shut down until August. The team is worried that his leg injury could worsen and develop into a stress fracture.

[ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

Richardson said last week that his shin problem 'ain't no biggie.' Well this move by the Browns indicates the team disagrees. Richardson's durability issues are a huge concern for fantasy owners. He struggled through various injuries last year and it impacted his play as a rookie. If 100 percent healthy Richardson has the ability to be a top 5 fantasy RB. His current ADP is RB8 and he's going off the board at 1.08. This news should drop that number.

CLE - Expect RB Trent Richardson to be ready

Source: The Associated Press

Cleveland Browns head coach Rob Chudzinski said the 'expectation' is that RB Trent Richardson (leg) will be ready to participate in training camp in July after he sits out the mandatory minicamp this month. Richardson rode an exercise bike during workouts Tuesday, June 4. 'The key is that he needs to stay into it mentally,' Chudzinski said. 'He's getting mental reps and doing those types of things. He's really stayed into it. I think he's excited about this next season and his approach has been good.'

[ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

The team is going to take it easy with Richardson as he comes back from this shin injury. Fantasy owners need not overreact to this latest injury concern with the talented second-year runner.

MIA - RB Lamar Miller the starter

Source: NFL.com - Chris Wesseling

Miami Dolphins QB Ryan Tannehill confirmed RB Lamar Miller is the starting running back. 'Lamar Miller is doing a great job this offseason, really has a great handle on the offense and he's doing a great job protecting,' Tannehill said. 'They can (all) run the ball but being able to understand the pass game, understand the checkdowns and where they're protecting really makes a big difference and makes me more comfortable.'

[ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

Miller is an interesting player to keep an eye on. He'll be the team's lead back and has big time ability. Miller is a good runner with the quickness and elusiveness to score from anywhere on the field. He's also an underrated receiver out of the backfield. When he came out of Miami last year many in the scouting community compared him to Clinton Portis (former Broncos, Redskins). Miller's current ADP is RB24 and he's coming off the board at 4.05 in 12 team leagues.

NE - TE Sudfeld impressing

Source: Field Yates - ESPNBoston.com

New England Patriots undrafted free agent TE Zach Sudfeld (Nevada) is impressing at OTAs. He looks like a smooth pass catcher and is a 'rookie of note' per ESPNBoston.com.

[ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

Sudfeld is an interesting name to remember, especially with the injuries at the TE position in New England. Our very own Cecil Lammey came away impressed by Sudfeld when he watched him during the week of practice for the Shrine Game earlier this year. Sudfeld has some Dennis Pitta-like skill to his game and can be a reliable and fearless target over the middle.

NE - TE Aaron Hernandez update

Source: Boston Herald - Jeff Howe

New England Patriots TE Aaron Hernandez (shoulder) was limited to side work during OTAs on Tuesday, June 4. He later caught passes from QB Tom Brady on another field while going through a route tree and QB coach Mike Kafka after that session. Hernandez appears to be progressing.

[ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

Hernandez should be ready for the start of the regular season. They could put him on the PUP list at the beginning of training camp if he's not ready to participate.

CLE - QB Brandon Weeden impressing

Source: ESPNCleveland.com - Tony Grossi

Cleveland Browns QB Brandon Weeden has looked exceptional in the last three team practices that were open to the media, according to ESPNCleveland.com writer Tony Grossi. Grossi acknowledges that any passer with a little experience and a strong arm should excel in such drills, but Weeden also demonstrated his growth by making a read and adjustment for a big play in one of the sessions. Grossi believes that Jason Campbell and Brian Hoyer will share time with the second team, because Weeden won't have competition for the starting job.

[ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

The new regime wants to see what Weeden can do as the starter. His strong arm and aggressive mentality is a good fit for the Norv Turner system. Campbell and Hoyer are competing to be the backup behind Weeden.

NO - TE Jimmy Graham looks good

Source: ESPN.com - Pat Yasinskas

New Orleans Saints TE Jimmy Graham (wrist) looked good during the team's minicamp practice Tuesday, June 4. 'Certainly getting him back from his offseason surgery and I know he's anxious to get started on this year,' head coach Sean Payton said. 'But I thought his practice today stood out.' Graham caught 85 passes for 982 yards and nine touchdowns last season, but he led the NFL with 14 drops.

[ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

Great news for fantasy owners here. Graham was the number one fantasy TE in 2012 and should at least be top three this year. Fantasy owners are currently taking him off the board early in the second-round as the top TE.

CLE - RB Trent Richardson dealing with migraines

Source: ESPNCleveland.com - Will Burge

Updating a previous report, Cleveland Browns RB Trent Richardson (leg, migraines) has been dealing with migraines, and taking medication for migraines. The migraine medication, along with Richardson to not being able to fully participate in his weight lifting program, has caused Richardson to lose weight over the past two weeks.

[ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

Migraines are not the same problem they used to be. Former Broncos great Terrell Davis dealt with migraines regularly back in the late 90s and was able to rush for over 2,000 yards in a season. Seahawks WR Percy Harvin still deals with migraines and is able to play through the pain. These migraine problems aren't as big of a deal as the shin problem Richardson currently has.

CHI - WR Brandon Marshall says he is fully healthy

Source: Chicago Bears Radio Network - Zach Zaidman

Chicago Bears WR Brandon Marshall (hip) said he is fully healthy after dealing with a hip issue.

[ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

Good news for Marshall, Bears fans, and fantasy owners here. Marshall should continue to dominate under new head coach Marc Trestman. Last year he finished the season as the second best WR in fantasy football. He's coming off the board at 2.05 in 12 team PPR leagues and his ADP is WR3.

DAL - Bill Callahan to call plays

Source: Fort Worth Star-Telegram - Clarence E. Hill Jr.

Dallas Cowboys OC Bill Callahan will be the offensive play caller for the team in 2013.

[ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

Head coach Jason Garrett gets stripped of his power with this move. He was hand picked by Cowboys owner Jerry Jones to be the head coach after the team moved on from Wade Phillips. The Cowboys have not made the strides Jones wanted during that time and this is most certainly a make or break year for Garrett.

DEN - RB Montee Ball settling in

Source: ESPN.com

Denver Broncos RB Montee Ball said his rookie 'jitters are gone' during organized team activities without RB Willis McGahee (knee) participating in the offseason workouts. RB Ronnie Hillman has been practicing with the starters while Ball is getting one-on-one tutoring from QB Peyton Manning after practices. 'We're going to count on him in a big way this year,' Manning said. 'He's a rookie but Coach (John) Fox is not going to bring him along slowly.'

[ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

Another important note on Ball for fantasy owners here. The Broncos would like the rookie to be the lead back in their RBBC in 2013. Ball is getting a little work with the first team in OTAs behind Ronnie Hillman. We'll see if he can win the starting job in training camp. Ball's current ADP (RB22) is too high right now in our opinion.

PHI - WR DeSean Jackson has meeting with coach

Source: PhillyMag.com - Tim McManus

Philadelphia Eagles WR DeSean Jackson said he had a meeting with head coach Chip Kelly after Jackson was running with the third-team offense at times in OTAs. Jackson said he got the message and is all-in. 'He just expects everyone to do things a certain way,' Jackson said. 'He was asking everybody to do the same thing. For myself, I just had to really hear it from his mouth to get that rapport with him and be on the same page with him. When I went in there, he said he expects everybody to buy into the system and do everything the right way.'

[ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

Jackson is on notice here. Kelly's system could be very friendly to a guy like Jackson and he could have a productive season in 2013. Jackson's current ADP is WR34 and he's coming off the board at 7.12 in standard 12 team leagues.

KC - RB Jamaal Charles to be big cog in passing game

Source: FOXSportsKansasCity.com - Sean Keeler

Kansas City Chiefs offensive coordinator Doug Pederson confirmed RB Jamaal Charles will be a major part of the team's passing game.

[ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

This is just another reason why Charles should be a top 5 fantasy pick in every draft. He's the centerpiece of the offense and will lead the team in carries once again this year. Charles will also be relied on in the passing game as he's a dangerous weapon who can score any time he touches the ball.

TEN - RB Chris Johnson approves of Sylvester Croom's tweaks

Source: The Tennessean - John Glennon

Tennessee Titans RB Chris Johnson approves of new RB coach Sylvester Croom. Comparing Croom to Earnest Byner, who held the job during Chris Johnson's 2,006-yard season back in 2009, Johnson said 'it seems like everything is going well. ... He's a pretty good coach.' Johnson said Croom has tweaked a couple of Johnson's steps during running plays and routes coming out of the backfield. 'That's a little minor change that I can tell is already helping me out,' Johnson said. Tennessee is aiming for Johnson to log more receptions this year.

[ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

Fantasy owners need to take note here. If Johnson can stay healthy this year then he's an every week starter. His current ADP is RB14 in PPR leagues and that makes him a value pick if he plays up to his potential. He'll lose some short yardage and goalline touches to Shonn Greene but should lead the team in receptions out of the backfield.

NFL - WR Austin Collie not giving up

Source: USA Today - Mike Garafolo

Free-agent WR Austin Collie (knee, concussion) is determined not to let multiple concussions end his playing career. Collie has had three serious concussions in his career, and is willing to risk permanent damage to himself to sign with another team. 'I'll sign a waiver, all right?' he said. 'They're not going to have to worry about me suing. I'll hold myself to be accountable.' Collie said he's not at risk for long-term brain issues and has been cleared by several neurologists. He's had trouble finding suitors, but he thinks one team will eventually take a chance on him. 'It would be hard to establish him in a key role due to injuries, but as a fourth wide receiver who could step up in a pinch (this season), there could be some value,' an NFC scout said.

[ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

Collie is a talented player but injuries have held him back during his pro career. Many think he could end up in Denver where he would be reunited with QB Peyton Manning. However, the Broncos already have a deep WR corps after adding Wes Welker in free agency and rookie Tavarres King (Georgia) through the NFL draft.

CLE - WR assignments flexible

Source: ESPNCleveland.com - Tony Grossi

The Cleveland Browns won't always have WRs Josh Gordon and Greg Little line up on the outside with Davone Bess in the slot. In early workouts, they've been shifting spots to keep defenses guessing; all have run routes from the inside and outside. Gordon made some of his most dynamic plays last year from the slot. David Nelson (knee) will also be incorporated into this rotation once healthy.

[ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

The Browns are going to have an exciting offense to watch under new OC Norv Turner. Little has been standing out with his work on deep routes this offseason. The offense will go as far as Brandon Weeden takes them in 2013.

BAL - Showing interest in QB JaMarcus Russell

Source: USA Today - Mike Garafolo

The Baltimore Ravens are showing significant interest in free agent QB JaMarcus Russell (Raiders) and could work him out soon if he does not sign a contract with the Bears.

[ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

Interesting story here. The Ravens currently have Tyrod Taylor as the primary backup behind Joe Flacco. Taylor is incredibly athletic and a different style QB from Flacco. Russell is similar to Flacco because he has a rocket arm but has a long way to go in order to prove himself even as a third-strong QB. The Bears have also shown interest in the 2007 number one overall pick.

KC - WR Dexter McCluster fully practices

Source: The Kansas City Star - Adam Teicher

Kansas City Chiefs WR Dexter McCluster (hamstring) fully participated in practice Tuesday, June 4 after missing the team portion of several practices with a hamstring issue.

[ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

Good news for McCluster here. Hamstring injuries can linger if not treated properly. McCluster is a dangerous weapon but his role in the new Andy Reid offense is undefined at this time.

CHI - QB JaMarcus Russell to work out

Source: ESPNChicago.com - Michael C. Wright

The Chicago Bears will work out free agent QB JaMarcus Russell (Raiders) Friday, June 7, along with three other quarterbacks.

[ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

The Bears only have Josh McCown and Matt Blanchard as backup QBs behind Jay Cutler. Russell has been out of football since 2009 after being the number one overall pick in 2007. He's considered the biggest draft bust in NFL history but has been working hard at T.E.S.T. West to get back into the league. Former NFL QB Jeff Garcia has been mentoring Russell during this journey. He has a rocket arm but struggled with decision making during his pro career.

TEN - TE Delanie Walker injury update

Source: TitansInsider.com - Terry McCormick

Tennessee Titans TE Delanie Walker (knee) did not participate in practice Tuesday, June 4, with knee soreness. It is possible that Walker could practice next week.

[ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

Walker is trying to take over as the team's starter since Jared Cook (Rams) moved on in free agency. He's talented, athletic, and creates mismatches when he's on the field. Walker does drop a lot of passes and will have to clean that up in order to play up to his potential. Second-year TE Taylor Thompson and Craig Stevens will get a bigger workload while Walker misses practice.

BUF - WR T.J. Graham impressing

Source: BuffaloBills.com - Chris Brown

Buffalo Bills WR T.J. Graham was reportedly the team's most impressive receiver in OTAs.

[ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

No surprise here. Graham has the speed to get on top of the defense in a hurry. He's not the biggest guy but is known as a feisty receiver and will battle for contested passes. The Bills upgraded their WR corps in the 2013 NFL draft, adding Robert Woods (USC) and Marquise Goodwin (Texas). Savvy fantasy owners won't forget about Graham. Put him on your waiver wire speed dial.

CLE - OLB Barkevious Mingo on second-team defense

Source: ESPNCleveland.com - Tony Grossi

Cleveland Browns OLB Barkevious Mingo has been working with the second-team defense in minicamp. ESPNCleveland.com writer Tony Grossi is under the impression that the team will follow the model the San Francisco 49ers utilized with OLB Aldon Smith, who made no starts as a rookie in 2011 but recorded 14 sacks. The Browns apparently don't care to rush Mingo's transition from 4-3 defensive end to 3-4 rush linebacker, especially because of the depth they've accumulated at the position. Mingo's primary responsibilities look to be in the pass rush and some special teams for now.

[ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

Mingo should help improve the Browns pass rush in 2013. He's built to get around the edge, understands leverage, and has good burst off the line of scrimmage.

NYG - More on DE Jason Pierre-Paul

Source: KFFL.com

Updating a previous report, New York Giants DE Jason Pierre-Paul (back) underwent surgery to fix a herniated disc in his lower back Tuesday, June 4, and his recovery and rehab is expected to last roughly 12 weeks. 'My back has been bothering me for a while, and even last season I played through some back issues,' said Pierre-Paul. 'The treatment I've been doing has helped manage the issue, but this procedure is going to get me fully healthy and there should be no more pain. I'm going to do everything the doctors tell me to do during my rehab so I can be back playing the game I love at a high level as quickly as possible.'

[ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

Pierre-Paul should be ready by week one of the regular season if he doesn't suffer any setbacks during his recovery. He'll be held out of training camp and the preseason as he comes back from this back surgery. Pierre-Paul may not look the same until a few weeks into the season.
