STL - Expectations still high for Pead

Source: Ian Rapoport - NFL Network

The St. Louis Rams reportedly knew about Pead's impending one-game suspension for months but still have high expectations for the 2012 second-round pick.

[ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

Pead will miss the first game of the season for violating the league's substance abuse policy. He can still practice with the team this offseason, through training camp and the preseason. Pead is competing with Daryl Richardson and rookie Zac Stacy (Vanderbilt) to be the team's starting RB in 2013.

KC - QB Alex Smith draws praise

Source: Adam Teicher - Kansas City Star

Kansas City Chiefs quarterbacks coach Matt Nagy praised Chiefs QB Alex Smith, saying he has been everything the team expected and more. Nagy noted Smith is both a leader by example and vocal.

[ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

The Chiefs are moving in a different direction this year under new head coach Andy Reid. Smith is an upgrade over last year's starter Matt Cassel and should be able to get the most out of weapons like WR Dwayne Bowe. The Chiefs are also using some Pistol formations to give their offense a different look. We like Smith as a low end QB2 for your fantasy team.

KC - RB Jamaal Charles has X-rays

Source: The Associated Press - Dave Skretta

Kansas City Chiefs RB Jamaal Charles' (toe) X-rays came back negative after a toe on his right foot was stepped on during organized team activities Friday, May 31.

[ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

Good news for Charles and the Chiefs here. The toe injury was considered minor when it happened and now the X-rays back that notion up. The team will be cautious with their superstar RB as he comes back from this minor injury.

PIT - Mike Adams stabbed during robbery

Source: The Associated Press

Pittsburgh Steelers OT Mike X. Adams (stomach) was stabbed during a robbery attempt Saturday, June 1, but is expected to make a full recovery from his injuries. Adams was apparently attacked by three assailants who were attempting to steal his truck.

[ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

Adams was lucky this incident didn't turn out a lot worse. He has no life threatening injuries and is likely to miss six weeks as he recovers. Adams should be ready to go by the start of training camp.

NE - WR Julian Edelman wearing walking boot

Source: ESPNBoston.com - Mike Reiss

New England Patriots WR Julian Edelman (foot) remains in a walking boot following an offseason surgical procedure on his right foot.

[ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

Edelman needs to get healthy and get on the practice field to prove his worth. His absence is opening the door for guys like Lavelle Hawkins, Donald Jones, and Michael Jenkins. The Patriots WR corps is wide open behind Danny Amendola and rookie Aaron Dobson (Marshall).

BUF - Da'Rick Rogers catches an earful

Source: The Buffalo News - Mark Gaughan

Buffalo Bills head coach Doug Marrone scolded WR Da'Rick Rogers in practice Friday, June 31, after the rookie wideout taunted CB Ron Brooks after beating him on a 15-yard reception. Rogers stood above Brooks for a moment after the defender had fallen to the ground.

[ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

Rogers is incredibly talented but has some maturity issues that helped cause him to slide to the ranks of the undrafted in this year's class. The team added Rogers on a 'one-shot' deal according to Marrone and he won't have much room to make mistakes as a rookie. Rogers led the SEC in catches as a sophomore at Tennessee but was dismissed prior to the 2012 season due to multiple failed drug tests and issues with coaches. He then transferred to Tennessee Tech and caught 61 passes for 893 yards and 10 touchdowns as a junior.

NYJ - More legal woes for Goodson

Source: Rich Cimini - ESPNNewYork.com

New York Jets RB Mike Goodson has more legal trouble this offseason. He is being slapped with a paternity suit by a Houston woman demanding child support for the four children he allegedly fathered from 2005 to 2011. The suit was filed Thursday in Harris County (Texas) Court.

[ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

Goodson is already facing gun and drug charges for an arrest in May. His spot on the roster isn't guaranteed but the team may wait until the legal process is exhausted to decide his fate.

BAL - WR Thompson improving and impressing

Source: Aaron Wilson - Baltimore Sun

Baltimore Ravens OC Jim Caldwell has seen improvement in WR Deonte Thompson's game. "He's a gifted route-runner, and he is getting better," offensive coordinator Jim Caldwell said. "He's young, and he's developing. [Wide receivers] coach Jim Hostler is working with him, and certainly, getting him refined in all aspects of the game. He understands how to sink his hips. He can do a great job of changing direction. He has speed, can catch the ball, and he's tough. I think that's a pretty good blend. He's a young guy, so we will see. If he keeps improving the way he's going, I think he will be a fine player."

[ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

Some think Thompson is the favorite to win the WR2 job opposite Torrey Smith. He's incredibly fast (4.3) and can get over the top of the defense in a hurry. Thompson is competing with Jacoby Jones for that spot.

BAL - WR Torrey Smith hopes against signing a veteran WR

Source: The Baltimore Sun - Aaron Wilson

Baltimore Ravens general manager Ozzie Newsome has expressed interest in adding a veteran receiver to the roster after evaluating the current crop this offseason. Ravens WR Torrey Smith wants to prove Newsome wrong, suggesting the current corps knows the offense and can get the job done.

[ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

The Ravens have a wide open WR depth chart behind Torrey Smith and Jacoby Jones. Now that Anquan Boldin (49ers) is gone we'll see who can elevate their game in camp. At this time Deonte Thompson may be the favorite over guys like Tommy Streeter and rookie Aaron Mellette (Elon).

NYG - TE Bear Pascoe will have bigger role

Source: ESPNNewYork.com - Kieran Darcy

New York Giants TE Bear Pascoe has moved to fullback in place of the injured FB Henry Hynoski (knee) during organized team activities (OTAs). He is expected to have an increased role, and he is hopeful to see more opportunities once the regular season begins.

[ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

Pascoe is a former rodeo champion and is country strong. He's a super aggressive player who could work nicely as a hard nosed fullback.

NE - T.J. Moe had torn Achilles'

Source: Boston Herald - Jeff Howe

Updating a previous report, free-agent WR T.J. Moe (Achilles') suffered a torn Achilles' tendon earlier this week, and he was released by the New England Patriots with an injury settlement, according to a source.

[ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

Moe was one of our favorite undrafted free agents to keep an eye on this year. He was a Wes Welker-like talent in college at Missouri and has a nice blend of quickness and speed. If he can get healthy we should see him get a shot with the team in 2014.

BAL - OLB Jameel McClain to start when cleared

Source: The Baltimore Sun - Aaron Wilson

Baltimore Ravens defensive coordinator Dean Pees said Friday, May 31, that LB Jameel McClain (back) will re-gain his starting job once he is medically cleared. 'We definitely want Jameel out there,' Pees said. 'It's very critical from the standpoint of he's our leadership out there.'

[ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

McClain suffered a spine injury last December but the injury didn't require surgery. With the Ravens losing Ray Lewis (retirement) and Dannell Ellerbe (Dolphins) this offseason McClain will be in for a large role in 2013. He's set to start opposite rookie Arthur Brown (Kansas State) in the middle of the Ravens' 3-4 defense.
