BUF - Buddy Nix stepping down as general manager

Source: BuffaloBills.com - Chris Brown

Buffalo Bills general manager Buddy Nix has decided to step aside and become a special assistant to the team.

[ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

This move is being painted as a voluntary one. Nix has been with the Bills as their GM over the last three seasons. Assistant GM Doug Whaley should see his role expanded upon this news.

PHI - QB Michael Vick, Nick Foles share reps

Source: PhiladelphiaEagles.com - Chris McPherson

Updating a previous report, Philadelphia Eagles head coach Chip Kelly said QBs Michael Vick and Nick Foles split reps with the first-team offense during organized team activities Monday, May 13.

[ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

Kelly said both quarterbacks are on equal ground right now. This battle will unfold during training camp. Rookie QB Matt Barkley may be considered a dark horse in this race.

JAX - RB Maurice Jones-Drew continues to make progress

Source: The Florida Times-Union - Ryan O'Halloran

Jacksonville Jaguars RB Maurice Jones-Drew (foot) said he is making progress in his rehab from foot surgery. He was able to run at 75 percent Monday, May 13.

[ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

Jones-Drew had surgery to repair his Lisfranc injury in late December 2012. No word on what his status will be for training camp in August. We imagine the team will bring him along slowly during that time so the injury is not aggravated. Jones-Drew should be near 100 percent healthy by the start of the regular season.

NYJ - Raving about Geno Smith

Source: New York Post - Brian Costello

The New York Jets are 'smitten' with rookie QB Geno Smith, and it's beginning to look more likely that the starting job is his to lose.

[ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

No surprise here. The Jets selected Smith in the second-round of the 2013 NFL draft to compete with Mark Sanchez for the starting job. Sanchez is the Stuart Smalley of NFL QBs and lost his confidence some time ago. Smith has supreme confidence in his ability and should be able to beat out Sanchez during training camp.

GB - Eddie Lacy not worried about toe

Source: Milwaukee Journal Sentinel - Tyler Dunne

Green Bay Packers RB Eddie Lacy (toe) said he is not worried about his surgically repaired toe and does not believe it will be a problem. 'It's nothing that I'm thinking about. I'm pretty sure I won't have any problems with it. It's holding up good. The surgery was basically perfect, and now it's about getting back to doing what I know how to do best,' Lacy said.

[ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

Lacy needs to prove that he can stay healthy at the pro level. Only a 14 game starter in college he comes with a lot of durability questions around his big toe. Lacy is competing with fellow rookie Jonathan Franklin for the starting job in 2013.

BAL - TE Dennis Pitta signs tender

Source: The Baltimore Sun - Aaron Wilson

Baltimore Ravens restricted free-agent TE Dennis Pitta has signed his one-year tender offer and will make $2.023 million in 2013.

[ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

A good deal for both sides here and it could open talks of a new long-term agreement. Pitta had a breakout season in 2012 and finished the season as the 7th best TE in fantasy football. He could have an even bigger season this year since WR Anquan Boldin was traded away to the 49ers.

OAK - Tyler Wilson could push up depth chart

Source: NFL.com - Gregg Rosenthal

Oakland Raiders QB Tyler Wilson is 'miles ahead' of where recent Raiders quarterbacks arrived as draft picks. He could possibly climb to No. 2 on the depth chart before the season is over.

[ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

This matches an earlier report from CSNBayArea.com. Wilson was the number one QB in this class for both Cecil Lammey and Matt Waldman. He's a gunslinger who has the arm strength to make all the throws in the NFL. Wilson is a strong leader and can take a beating yet stay in and keep firing. He needs to clean up his footwork in order to improve his accuracy. It wouldn't surprise us to see him pass both Matt Flynn and Terrelle Pryor on the depth chart at some point this year.

BAL - RB Ray Rice wants to become bigger receiving threat

Source: The Baltimore Sun - Aaron Wilson

Baltimore Ravens RB Ray Rice wants to become a bigger receiving threat out of the backfield in 2013. 'Now that guys know that I'm a threat out of the backfield, I got to use my hands a little more,' Rice said. 'I get pushed a lot coming out of the backfield, and that's a sign of respect, but if I can get my hands and get out on pass routes and continue to get open for Joe Flacco.'

[ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

Getting Rice more involved may be key for the Ravens in 2013. We saw them use him more (and Bernard Pierce) after Jim Caldwell took over as the OC after Cam Cameron was fired. They have major question marks in the WR corps behind Torrey Smith and Jacoby Jones. Using Rice more as a receiver (along with more use of the TEs) could be in order.

CIN - Tyler Eifert moves around during minicamp

Source: The Associated Press - Joe Kay

Cincinnati Bengals TE Tyler Eifert lined up at tight end on both ends of the offensive line as well as a slot receiver during the team's rookie minicamp. Eifert said he believes he is picking up the offense relatively quick.

[ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

Eifert is a dangerous weapon who can be used in multiple ways with the Bengals. He can line up in line or split out to the slot. His athleticism makes it difficult for defenders to cover him downfield. We like him as a TE2 with upside for your fantasy teams. His current ADP is TE18 and he's coming off the board at 13.07 on average.

DAL - Joseph Randle signed

Source: DallasCowboys.com - Nick Eatman

The Dallas Cowboys have signed fifth-round draft choice RB Joseph Randle to a four-year deal. Financial terms were not disclosed.

[ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

Randle should win the primary backup job behind Demarco Murray this year. The rookie is going to miss all of the offseason training activities because of offseason thumb surgery. He should be ready to go by training camp. He's got quick initial burst, acceleration, and can contribute as a receiver out of the backfield. With Murray's injury history we could see Randle in the lineup at some point this year. Randle's current ADP is RB53 and he's coming off the board near the end of round 12.

CLE - Not interested in Tim Tebow

Source: Medina County Gazette - Scott Petrak

Cleveland Browns general manager Michael Lombardi indicated the team is not interested in free-agent QB Tim Tebow (Jets).

[ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

It will actually be news when a team IS interested in Tebow. The Browns are going to move forward with Brandon Weeden and Jason Campbell competing for the starting job. The prospects for Tebow are thin right now as many teams avoid him because of the 'circus' he'll bring when signed. Tebow needs to go to a team with a star quarterback so there is zero chance of any QB controversy. Either that or he needs to switch positions.

JAX - Justin Blackmon met with coach and front office

Source: NFL.com - Ian Rapoport

Jacksonville Jaguars WR Justin Blackmon has met with head coach Gus Bradley and general manager David Caldwell after getting suspended for the first four games of the 2013 season.

[ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

Blackmon is a talented player but has to prove that he can stay focused, stay out of trouble, and become a consistent impact player on the field. He has been a regular in the team's facility since the suspension, and according to this report the Jaguars still believe in him.

GB - Eddie Lacy thinks he will fit offense

Source: Milwaukee Journal Sentinel - Tyler Dunne

Green Bay Packers RB Eddie Lacy said he believes he will fit in the offense well this season. 'I feel that I can fit into the offense perfectly. They won't have to change anything. I'll be able to go in there and adapt to it. It'll keep defenses guessing,' Lacy said.

[ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

Lacy is a great fit for the Packers offense, if he can stay healthy. Known as a downhill runner, 64.7 percent of his rushes came between the tackles in 2012. Lacy averaged 7.6 yards per carry on such running plays with about one in every four attempts going for at least 10 yards.

DEN - Zac Dysert signed

Source: DenverBroncos.com - Gray Caldwell

The Denver Broncos have signed seventh-round draft choice QB Zac Dysert. Terms of the contract were not disclosed.

[ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

Dysert is a nice developmental pick for the Broncos. He's no threat to backup QB (and QB of the future) Brock Osweiler but instead is seen as the eventual backup behind Osweiler. Dysert struggled with accuracy and pass placement in Broncos rookie minicamp but was throwing with proper velocity.

BAL - Tandon Doss trying to make most of opportunity

Source: The Baltimore Sun - Aaron Wilson

Baltimore Ravens WR Tandon Doss is a candidate for a much bigger role in the team's offense after WR Anquan Boldin was traded to the San Francisco 49ers in the offseason. Doss should compete for playing time behind WRs Torrey Smith and Jacoby Jones and could become the No. 3 receiver. WRs LaQuan Williams, David Reed, Deonte Thompson and Aaron Mellette are the other receiving options that will compete in offseason workouts and training camp. Baltimore is open to signing a veteran wideout to compete in camp, as well.

[ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

Doss is a deep threat who can fly down the field and track the ball. If Jacoby Jones wins the WR2 starting job opposite Torrey Smith then Doss could be considered the favorite to take over Jones' WR3 role.

BUF - QB Tarvaris Jackson first up in QB rotation

Source: BuffaloBills.com - Chris Brown

Buffalo Bills QB Tarvaris Jackson received the first snaps during organized team activities Monday, May 13. He was followed by QB Kevin Kolb and EJ Manuel.

[ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

Don't read too much into this. New Bills head coach Doug Marrone said we should expect the rotation to change daily. We'll be surprised if Jackson ends up the starter at the beginning of the regular season. Rookie E.J. Manuel is considered the favorite to win that job.

NFL - Joshua Cribbs expected to make decision soon

Source: DetroitLions.com - Tim Twentyman

Free-agent WR Joshua Cribbs (Browns) said he expects to take a few days before deciding which team will be signing with this offseason. Cribbs said the Detroit Lions are high on his list.

[ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

Cribbs has gotten quite a bit of interest over the last couple of weeks. He's finally healthy after offseason knee surgery and will look to find the best fit for his services. The Lions, Jets, and Raiders (among others) have shown interest.

JAX - Matt Scott participates

Source: The Associated Press - Mark Long

Jacksonville Jaguars QB Matt Scott (ankle) is no longer wearing a walking boot and was able to participate in the organized team activities Monday, May 13.

[ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

Scott had a high ankle sprain earlier in minicamp. He needs to get and stay healthy if he wants to impress enough to make the final roster or practice squad. Scott is extremely athletic but has 'say it don't spray it' accuracy and needs a ton of work as a passer. Contests against Oregon (22-44-210-0-3) and UCLA (15-25-124-0-0) in 2012 highlight how his game falls apart against pressure.

CIN - Two draft picks signed

Source: KFFL.com

The Cincinnati Bengals have signed fourth-round draft choice LB Sean Porter and sixth-round draft choice RB Rex Burkhead. Terms of the contract were not disclosed.

[ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

Burkhead is an interesting player to watch in deep dynasty leagues. He could be only a special teams player this year but has the ability to be a grinder if the team needs him to be. Burkhead is not fast but has good burst, changes direction with balance, and runs with good power.

SD - Meeting with Winston Justice

Source: The San Diego Union-Tribune - Michael Gehlken

The San Diego Chargers are schedule to meet with free-agent OT Winston Justice (Colts) Monday, May 13.

[ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

The Chargers are still looking for help on the offensive line. They lost out on LT Bryant McKinnie (Ravens) earlier this month and still have a need at left tackle. The interest in Justice is curious as he's mostly played right tackle in the NFL. The Chargers added D.J. Fluker (Alabama) in the first-round of the 2013 NFL draft to start at right tackle.

ARI - QB Brian Hoyer waived

Source: thesidelineview.com - Adam Caplan

The Arizona Cardinals have waived QB Brian Hoyer.

[ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

The Cardinals were trying to trade Hoyer earlier this offseason but were unable to do so. The team placed a second-round tender on Hoyer as a restricted free agent in order to see what they could get for him on the trade block. He's been cut three times in the last year but may get a job as a backup or camp arm before August rolls around.

KC - Knile Davis signs

Source: KFFL.com

The Kansas City Chiefs signed RB Knile Davis, their third-round draft pick, to an undisclosed four-year deal Monday, May 13. The team has now signed three of their eight draft picks from this year.

[ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

Davis was a reach for the Chiefs in the 2013 NFL draft. Durability issues are a huge concern for him after multiple injuries in college, including an ankle injury that cost him the entire 2011 season. Even when fully healthy Davis runs soft, goes down on first contact, and has fumbling problems. There were several (better) running backs left on the board when the Chiefs nabbed Davis in the third-round.

NYJ - Rex Ryan compliments Dee Milliner

Source: Twitter

New York Jets head coach Rex Ryan praised CB Dee Milliner on being a sharp player. '(We were) firing the questions at him the whole time, in the meetings. He's sharp,' Ryan said.

[ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

Milliner was considered the top CB in this draft class. He's an incredibly gifted athlete with speed, good hip turn, plus click and close ability to get to the ball. He's got big shoes to fill as he's replacing Darrelle Revis (Buccaneers) in the starting lineup.

ARI - Kevin Minter signed

Source: KFFL.com

The Arizona Cardinals have signed second-round draft choice LB Kevin Minter to a four-year deal. Financial terms were not disclosed.

[ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

Minter was a great addition for the Cardinals in the second-round of the 2013 NFL draft. He's undersized but plays bigger than his size and has a nose for the football. Minter is athletic, has the range to play from sideline to sideline, and is known as a sound tackler.
