Happy Mother's Day everyone! Enjoy this day and make sure to give mom a call if you can't spend the day together. Mother's Day reminds me of two things. First, the time I almost brought tears to the eyes of Cardinals RB Ryan Williams when I interviewed him at the Scouting Combine and asked him about his mother. Second, it reminds me of a quote from the movie "The Crow." In that movie Brandon Lee says "Mother is the word for God on the lips and hearts of their children." We all owe a great debt to our mother. I know I wouldn't be where I'm at today without the love and support of my mother, Susan Kathleen Gonzalez. Make sure to tell your mom "I love you" as often as possible!

CIN - Rookie TE Eifert lining up in multiple positions

Source: Joe Kay - Columbus Dispatch

Cincinnati Bengals rookie TE Tyler Eifert has been lining up in multiple positions at rookie minicamp. "A lot of the things I'm learning are a lot of the same plays we had in with two tight ends move me around in different positions," Eifert said. "Today I was out in the slot quite a bit. I think I'm picking it up pretty fast."

[ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

Eifert is a dangerous weapon for the Bengals and has some Rob Gronkowski-like attributes to his game. It's easy to get excited about his prospects for this season but we can only recommend him as a TE2 for fantasy owners. His current ADP is TE17 and he's coming off the board near the end of round 13.

DEN - Russell Wilson helped Ball with audibles

Source: Cecil Lammey - ESPN Denver, Footballguys.com

Broncos rookie RB Montee Ball commented after rookie mini-camp that former college teammate (and current Seahawks QB) Russell Wilson helped him learn audibles. "It actually helped a lot. Our offensive coordinator gave Russell the green light to change the calls at the line of scrimmage, as well, change the play and all that stuff. So I'm very, very familiar, and I have great experience with a quarterback who is very in control of the offense. I have a lot of plays with Russell where I had to really pass protect him and all that stuff. Like I said, I have a lot of great experience with all that stuff."

[ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

Ball will be in the lineup alongside Peyton Manning who is known to change plays frequently. It's good he's got experience with the changes in line calls and blocking schemes that come along with audibles.

BUF - Rookie WR Woods to start opposite Johnson?

Source: Joe Buscaglia - WGR 550

Buffalo Bills rookie WR Robert Woods may be 'firmly in the conversation' when it comes to finding a starter opposite Steve Johnson. Woods has impressed during Bills rookie minicamp and many consider him the favorite to start.

[ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

We think Woods is one of the best rookie WRs in this draft class. He knows how to get open, has the speed to eat up cushions quickly, and has strong hands to be a consistent target. Woods should eventually become a favorite in the Bills passing game.

PHI - Matt Barkley said he will fit in offense

Source: CSNPhilly.com - Geoff Mosher

Philadelphia Eagles QB Matt Barkley said he will make himself fit into whichever offense head coach Chip Kelly wants to use. 'You know, I'll make it fit,' he said. 'It doesn't matter what plays we run, I'm going to find a way to help this team out, and I know Coach Kelly has a way of working things out as well in terms of how he schemes and how he calls plays, so I'm not worried. I'm just worried about the here and now and what I can do right now.'

[ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

Kelly's offense requires the quarterback to make quick decisions and get the ball to the skill players via pass or handoff. If also requires the quarterback to zone read the best rusher away from the play side. Barkley is not a scrambler but that doesn't make him a bad fit. In fact, his accuracy and high football intelligence is a good match for this system.

SF - WR Patton 'nowhere close' to being ready

Source: Matt Maiocco - CSN Bay Area

San Francisco 49ers rookie WR Quinton Patton is 'nowhere close' to being ready to contribute in 2013 according to CSN Bay Area. Patton has a lot of work to do as a route runner and has not been able to create the separation needed at the pro level.

[ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

No surprise here. Patton was known for his downfield speed but not for his route running in college. He was hyper productive last year at Louisiana Tech catching 104 passes for 1,392 yards and 13 touchdowns. Patton is known as a hard worker and should be able to improve his game under the guidance of the 49ers staff.

CIN - Cobi Hamilton signed

Source: Bengals.com - Geoff Hobson

The Cincinnati Bengals have signed sixth-round draft choice WR Cobi Hamilton. Terms of the contract were not disclosed.

[ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

We love the addition of Hamilton. He's a developmental prospect with the upside to be a quality WR2 someday. Hamilton has the speed to get on top of the defense in the blink of an eye. He also has strong concentration and good body control to haul in difficult passes. Dynasty owners need to take note here.

KC - Rookie QB Bray has 'excellent chance' to make roster

Source: Adam Teicher - Kansas City Star

Chiefs undrafted rookie QB Tyler Bray (Tennessee) has an 'excellent chance' to make the final roster according to the Kansas City Star. Bray has elite arm talent but off field and maturity issues caused every team to pass on him in the draft.

[ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

Bray plays a lot like Jay Cutler, but perceived attitude problems made him go undrafted. We'll see if he can beat out Ricky Stanzi for the third QB spot behind Alex Smith and Chase Daniel.

BUF - Rookie WR Rogers has 'one shot' deal

Source: BuffaloBills.com

Buffalo Bills head coach Doug Marrone says undrafted rookie WR Da'Rick Rogers has a 'one-shot deal.' Marrone continued, "Either you've learned your lesson and you've grown up and you're going to go forward and mature, or you haven't learned your lesson and you're going to be out on the street. It's that simple."

[ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

Rogers was one of the most talented WRs in this draft class and could have gone in the early second-round had it not been for multiple off field concerns. The Bills picked him up as an undrafted free agent and he's now trying to prove himself in camp. He's got tremendous upside if he can stay focused and stay out of trouble.

DEN - Gase says team will have balanced run game

Source: Cecil Lammey - ESPN Denver, Footballguys.com

Adam Gase, the new offensive coordinator for the Broncos, said on Saturday the team would strive for a balanced ground game. "We're going to be a little more balanced on inside/outside runs. It's going to be predicated, obviously, on what the defense is giving us, so as the game goes, it's probably going to change." Gase said.

[ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

Last year under Mike McCoy the Broncos ground game was too predictable with a heavy does of inside zone runs. Using the outside zone stretch plays to the strengths of both Montee Ball and Ronnie Hillman. Those two are expected to be the top RBs for Denver in 2013.

NYG - David Wilson could keep return duties

Source: New York Daily News - Ralph Vacchiano

New York Giants special teams coordinator Tom Quinn said he believes RB David Wilson can still be a kick returner this season even though he is expected to be the starting running back. 'With his expanded role (in the offense), we'll see where it leads,' Quinn said. 'He said he'd like to do both, but it all depends on the game and his carries and what his role is in the offense.'

[ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

Wilson should be the lead back for the Giants with Andre Brown playing as the change of pace power back. We'd be surprised if Wilson is heavily involved in both the offense and the return game.

NYJ - Coach unhappy with Quinton Coples

Source: ESPNNewYork.com - Rich Cimini

New York Jets head coach Rex Ryan said he is unhappy with how LB Quinton Coples has performed in the weight room this offseason. Ryan said he believes Coples could play outside linebacker but will have to compete for a starting job if he does not improve in the weight room.

[ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

No real surprise here. There were plenty of question marks about Coples' motivation coming out of college. At the Senior Bowl in 2012 he looked great as he was obviously motivated to improve his draft stock. Coples needs to work harder if he wants to play up to his potential.

NE - Michael Buchanan could be used as OLB in 3-4

Source: ESPNBoston.com - Field Yates

The New England Patriots could use DE Michael Buchanan as an outside linebacker if the team decides to use the 3-4 defensive alignment at times this season. Buchanan likely will need to contribute on special teams if he wants to make the team.

[ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

Buchanan uses a devastating spin move to surprise blockers, and he can execute it at full speed. He needs to develop more pass-rushing moves in order to play up to his full potential. He's a tall prospect (6'6") who has the winspan to bat down passes or block kicks.
