JAX - RB Maurice Jones-Drew placed on Did Not Report list

Source: The Associated Press - Mark Long

The Jacksonville Jaguars have placed RB Maurice Jones-Drew on the Reserve/Did Not Report list.

[ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ OUR VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

This move means Jones-Drew won't count against the 90-man roster in training camp. His holdout may last a couple of weeks into training camp, and the Jaguars could fine him up to $30,000 per day for every day he misses. Both sides are entrenched in their position and this may not come to a resolution any time soon.

MIA - Reach Agreement with QB Tannehill

Source: Adam Schefter - ESPN

Adam Schefter, from ESPN, reports via Twitter that the Dolphins have come to an agreement with first-round pick, QB Ryan Tannehill. The total value of his deal is $12.688 million over four years, according to a source. Schefter did say that Miami made concessions to make the deal palatable, and Tannehill was unwilling to miss more time to continue fight on offset language.

[ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ OUR VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

Tannehill is unlikely to be the starter in week one but we feel he'll see the field sometime later in the year. He's got plenty of experience in OC Mike Sherman's offense because Sherman was his head coach in college at Texas A&M. Tannehill is athletic, has a strong arm, and some in the scouting community felt he had the best pocket presence of anyone in the 2012 NFL Draft. He's behind David Garrard and Matt Moore on the depth chart as he gets to camp.

NE - Stevan Ridley has leg up in early competition?

Source: WEEI.com - Morley Quatroche

New England Patriots RB Stevan Ridley has been carrying the load early on in training camp, seeing first-team reps. The situation at running back hasn't been clearly defined, but Ridley saw the most snaps as the No. 1 back Friday, July 27. RB Shane Vereen also saw some first-team reps late in practice, and the battle for the starting job is expected to primarily be between those two players.

[ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ OUR VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

Ridley is the battering ram, while Vereen is better used as a change of pace back. Don't forget about Danny Woodhead here either. The Patriots RB situation is a messy one for fantasy owners.

DET - Mikel Leshoure injures hamstring

Source: MLive.com - Anwar Richardson

Detroit Lions RB Mikel Leshoure (hamstring) suffered a hamstring injury during practice Saturday, July 28.

[ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ OUR VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

Leshoure is considered day-to-day at this point. He's already trying to come back from the Achilles' injury that cost him all of his rookie season in 2011. Without Leshoure and Jahvid Best (concussions) in practice it will give Kevin Smith most of the first-team carries. Backup Joique Bell will get more of an opportunity too.

MIN - RB Adrian Peterson not thrilled to be on PUP list

Source: Scout.com

Minnesota Vikings RB Adrian Peterson (knee) tried his best to convince the team not to place him on the Physically Unable to Perform list. 'He put up a fight,' head coach Leslie Frazier said. 'Knowing Adrian like you guys do, he wanted to make sure. He said, 'Coach, don't hold me back.' He wanted to get out there, but we've got to be smart. We need to see him do a few things and then make a determination. If he had his way, he'd be getting involved today.'

[ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ OUR VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

Peterson is hyper competitive and didn't want to be on the PUP list to open camp. It's no surprise the team would take it easy on the superstar RB as he comes back from his knee injury. His touches will be limited once he's activated for training camp.

KC - RB Jamaal Charles injury update

Source: KFFL.com

Kansas City Chiefs RB Jamaal Charles (knee) said he feels like his old self again. 'I feel like I have my swag back and my knee feels healthy. They cleared me to go so I was on the field today,' Charles said Friday, July 27. Charles said he is going to work hard every day during training camp to prepare. 'I'm going to work hard and let the hard work pay off on Sundays. That is why I am here,' he noted. In regards to his knee injury, he said he feels better and he's comfortable on the field.

[ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ OUR VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

The Chiefs want to run the ball 500 times this year and split the carries between Charles and Peyton Hillis. Both backs could have RB2 value in fantasy leagues with Charles having the higher upside because of his gamebreaking ability. There will be formations where both RBs are on the field at the same time, and both can be used effectively as receivers out of the backfield.

DET - RB Kevin Smith works with first team

Source: MLive.com - Anwar Richardson

Detroit Lions RB Kevin Smith worked with the first-team offense in practice Friday, July 27. He looks much strong than last year.

[ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ OUR VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

Mikel Leshoure is facing a two-game suspension so Smith could be the team's week one starter if Jahvid Best is not ready. Best (concussions) has still not been cleared to resume practice at this time.

SEA - HC won't speak about RB Marshawn Lynch situation

Source: 710 ESPN Seattle - Liz Mathews

Seattle Seahawks head coach Pete Carroll said Saturday, July 28, that he cannot really talk about the situation with RB Marshawn Lynch at this time. Lynch was arrested last month, and he might face disciplinary action from the league.

[ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ OUR VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

We'll have to wait for the legal process to be exhausted before we see any decision from the league about potential discipline for Lynch. That could be stretched out past the season, so the chance of Lynch getting suspended this year may be small.

MIN - RB Toby Gerhart bulked up

Source: KFFL.com

Minnesota Vikings RB Toby Gerhart has bulked up this season and offensive coordinator Bill Musgrave feels it will be beneficial to the team, as they plan to count on him this year. 'Toby is going to be needed by our team based on Adrian's (Peterson) health. I know Toby is looking forward to making a big contribution like he did in the second half of 2011,' Musgrave said.

[ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ OUR VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

Gerhart could be the team's feature back for the first month of the season while they ease Adrian Peterson back into the lineup.

DEN - QB Peyton Manning impressing his coach

Source: KFFL.com

Denver Broncos QB Peyton Manning was excellent during workouts Saturday, July 28, according to head coach John Fox. 'The guy comes to work every day, whether it's in that building or on that field, he attacks it like no other,' Fox said.

[ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ OUR VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

Our very own Cecil Lammey is out at Dove Valley every day for Broncos training camp and all his reports about Manning have been positive. Manning is leaning on WR Eric Decker early in camp and is also showing great chemistry with TE Jacob Tamme.

WAS - Robert Griffin quickly winning over teammates

Source: CBSSports.com - Jason La Canfora

Washington Redskins QB Robert Griffin III has quickly impressed teammates in training camp, particularly through his leadership. 'He's the (bleeping) leader of this football team,' TE Chris Cooley said. 'I can honestly say that. He's so real. There's no B.S. This is who he is. I sit next to him in the team meetings, and there isn't a guy on the team he doesn't have a relationship with. Not one. He talks to everyone, he shares part of himself with everyone. He sends texts to everyone. Griff is our leader. People wonder if he's the same guy they see being interviewed or in the commercials. He is. He is the kind of person you want to follow. It's all real. It's not B.S.'

[ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ OUR VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

He's got the orange aura around him. Griffin is extremely charismatic and has strong leadership characteristics. His playmaking ability and improvisational skills will also make him a favorite of his teammates. We like him as a QBBC option you can draft in the mid 8th round.

MIN - WR Percy Harvin says he's on board

Source: Minneapolis Star Tribune - Mark Craig

Minnesota Vikings WR Percy Harvin said he is in great spirits at the start of training camp. 'I'm at camp, I'm happy, I'm on board,' Harvin said. Harvin still won't reveal why he was so upset with the team just a month ago. Whatever the problem was, Harvin now insists it's all behind him and the team. 'We're all on the same page,' Harvin said. 'We're all just trying to win around here. I talked to coach (Leslie Frazier). Everything is good around here. So I'm ready to get out there, start sweating and get this thing moving.'

[ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ OUR VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

Great news for the Vikings here. Harvin was reportedly unhappy with his limited role on offense. That's an easy fix, and we could see Harvin used more in 2012.

PIT - WR Mike Wallace turned down lucrative offer

Source: Pittsburgh Tribune-Review - Mark Kaboly

Pittsburgh Steelers restricted free-agent WR Mike Wallace turned down a contract offer of five years in the range of $50 million.

[ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ OUR VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

Some think Mike Wallace is seeking a contract similar to Buccaneers WR Vincent Jackson. The Bucs signed Jackson to a five-year $55MM deal and the average annual salary of $11MM is a reasonable price. The Steelers seemed to have made their final offer, and this situation may result in Wallace getting traded.

DET - RB Jahvid Best not concerned about concussions

Source: ProFootballTalk.com

Detroit Lions RB Jahvid Best (concussion) said he's not the least bit worried about concussions ending his career, and he hasn't even thought about it. 'That has not crossed my mind yet. Right now I'm waiting to be cleared,' Best said.

[ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ OUR VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

It's a real concern that Best still isn't cleared months after his last concussion. He's very talented but his durability is a huge question mark.

NYG - Pecking order at RB revealed

Source: ESPNNewYork.com - Ohm Youngmisuk

New York Giants RB Ahmad Bradshaw is at the top of the pecking order at running back in training camp, followed by RB Danny Ware, Andre Brown, Da'Rel Scott and David Wilson.

[ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ OUR VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

Wilson may be fifth on the depth chart right now but that won't last for long. We like Wilson's ability to be a full time starter if given the opportunity. He reminds many in the scouting community of Chiefs' RB Jamaal Charles and led the NCAA last year in yards after contact. With Bradshaw's injury history there's a good chance Wilson will get to start at some point this year.

NYG - Dominik Hixon starts with first team

Source: ESPNNewYork.com - Ohm Youngmisuk

New York Giants WR Dominik Hixon saw time with the first time opposite WR Victor Cruz. He is battling WRs Jerrel Jernigan and Ramses Barden for the No. 3 wide receiver job in training camp and the preseason.

[ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ OUR VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

We can't forget about rookie WR Rueben Randle here. Randle is the most talented of the backup WRs behind Hakeem Nicks and Victor Cruz. We expect him to eventually win the WR3 job. Randle has a skill set similar to that of Buccaneers WR Vincent Jackson. He wasn't that productive in college due to poor QB play, but could be a star for the Giants.

SEA - WR Antonio Bryant nursing hamstring injury

Source: 710 ESPN Seattle - Liz Mathews

Seattle Seahawks head coach Pete Carroll said Saturday, July 28, that WR Antonio Bryant (hamstring) enters training camp with a bit of a hamstring issue.

[ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ OUR VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

Not surprising news here. Bryant was out of football last year and it will take some time for him to get back into football shape. This injury doesn't help his chances of winning a roster spot.

NYJ - Rex Ryan criticizes Jeremy Kerley

Source: ESPNNewYork.com - Rich Cimini

Updating a previous report, New York Jets head coach Rex Ryan said Saturday, July 28, that he is 'disappointed' with WR Jeremy Kerley (hamstring), who will now miss a week of action with a hamstring injury.

[ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ OUR VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

Ryan is rarely critical of his players in public, so putting Kerley on blast is noteworthy. Kerley has reportedly struggled to learn the new offense and is on the roster bubble.

PHI - Damaris Johnson, Marvin McNutt catch break

Source: Philadelphia Inquirer - Jeff McLane

Philadelphia Eagles WRs Damaris Johnson and Marvin McNutt will get a chance to fill in as the fourth wide receiver during training camp and the preseason with WR Riley Cooper (collarbone) out with a fractured left collarbone. 'We're excited about the guys on our roster,' general manager Howie Roseman said Saturday, July 28.

[ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ OUR VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

They have different skill sets and can contribute in different ways. McNutt is a big, physical WR who knows how to box out defenders. Johnson is an athletic WR who is dangerous after the catch.

PHI - WR Riley Cooper fractures left collarbone

Source: Philadelphia Inquirer - Jeff McLane

Philadelphia Eagles WR Riley Cooper (collarbone) was forced out of practice Saturday, July 28, due to a fractured left collarbone. He fell awkwardly after getting tangled up with CB Curtis Marsh.

[ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ OUR VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

Typical collarbone injuries take one or two months to recover from. Pending X-rays should reveal how bad Cooper's break is.

MIN - Kyle Rudolph had great offseason

Source: KFFL.com

Minnesota Vikings TE Kyle Rudolph had a great offseason, according to offensive coordinator Bill Musgrave. 'He has gained strength without losing any movement. He is one of the guys that we are going to count on to contribute who wasn't a full-time starter last year,' Musgrave said.

[ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ OUR VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

Rudolph reminded some in the scouting community of Patriots TE Rob Gronkowski when he came out of college. He's looking to have a breakout season in his second season.

MIN - Christian Ponder has better understanding of offense

Source: KFFL.com

Minnesota Vikings second-year QB Christian Ponder has a much greater working knowledge of the Vikings' system than he did a year ago, according to offensive coordinator Bill Musgrave. The Vikings are going to continue to ramp up Ponder and the entire offense based upon what it shows they can handle. 'We definitely want to get good at some things and not spread any of our players too thin with too much volume,' Musgrave said. Ponder had a good day of training camp Friday, July 27, according to Musgrave.

[ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ OUR VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

Ponder needs to play with better confidence if he wants to avoid the sophomore slump in 2012. Targeting WR Percy Harvin more and having a WR2 like Jerome Simpson could help him be an effective starter this year.

IND - Andrew Luck is a quick study

Source: KFFL.com

Indianapolis Colts rookie QB Andrew Luck is going to receive the majority of the reps with the first-string offense, according to offensive coordinator Bruce Arians. 'The only way you learn is to play. He's going to be our guy and he's going to get the majority of the reps. The thing we have to watch is not running everybody else into the ground with him,' Arians said.

[ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ OUR VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

No surprise here. Luck has high football intelligence and should be able to pick up Arians system quickly.

IND - Andrew Luck and WR Reggie Wayne worked out together

Source: KFFL.com

Indianapolis Colts rookie QB Andrew Luck said he was able to spend some time in the offseason working out in Florida with WR Reggie Wayne, the team's No. 1 receiver.

[ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ OUR VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

That offseason work should help Wayne and Luck develop chemistry quicker in 2012. We like Wayne as a high upside WR3 you can add in the early 7th round of your fantasy draft.

IND - Want a physical running game

Source: KFFL.com

Indianapolis Colts offensive coordinator Bruce Arians said the team wants to be able to run the football this year when they want to run it. He is looking for the running game to be a physical one. 'There aren't any numbers; you know, we aren't running 35 times, this and that, every game dictates different numbers. But when we want to run it, we want to be able to run it, and be able to be physical. Old school football, double team, kick out and hit it up in there,' Arians said. He noted he feels the team's players have adapted to his philosophy quickly and he is excited to see them with pads on behind the offensive line, which he really likes.

[ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ OUR VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

Good news for Donald Brown here. He could be a real value for your fantasy team if he stays healthy and plays up to his potential. Brown is coming off the board at RB30 but could finish the season as a top 20 fantasy RB.

SEA - WR Sidney Rice off PUP list

Source: 710 ESPN Seattle - Liz Mathews

The Seattle Seahawks have activated WR Sidney Rice (shoulders) from the Physically Unable to Perform list.

[ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ OUR VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

We expect Rice to be limited in training camp and the preseason as he comes back from offseason surgery on both shoulders. He's a huge injury risk, but could outperform his current ADP of WR38. Rice is going off the board in the early 9th round of most 12-team fantasy drafts.

MIA - RB Reggie Bush still thinks he can win rushing title

Source: ESPN.com - James Walker

Miami Dolphins RB Reggie Bush still believes he will lead the NFL in rushing this upcoming season, a statement he also made earlier this offseason. 'I believe in setting the highest goals possible for yourself or you don't belong in this game,' Bush said. 'This is a game of all-stars. Every team is equally good in the beginning, and even the bad teams any Sunday can beat you.'

[ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ OUR VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

Bush had a breakout year last season but durability is always concern with him. We think he's the Dolphins greatest weapon but may not get enough carries to win the starting job. Grab him as a low end RB2 in the end of the fourth-round of your fantasy draft.

MIA - QB David Garrard sharp in practice Saturday

Source: ESPN.com - James Walker

Miami Dolphins QB David Garrard began practice Saturday, July 28, on the first team and later rotated with QB Matt Moore. Garrard, however, took a step forward and definitively looked like the better quarterback. He didn't force anything and made good throws downfield when the opportunity presented itself. Moore, meanwhile, struggled with his accuracy. He missed too many throws he should have completed.

[ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ OUR VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

Moore is not a good practice player and Garrard is the favorite at this time to win the starting job. If Moore outperforms Garrard during preseason games then the competition could be much closer than it is right now.

Source: CSNNE.com - Mary Paoletti

Updating previous item, free-agent RB Joseph Addai (Patriots) struggled during his conditioning test with the New England Patriots and simply quit, according to a league source, which led to his release.

[ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ OUR VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

Addai won't attract much attention on the free agent market after this news. His career is likely over, but a team could look to add him if injuries hit their RB corps in training camp. Addai is not much of a runner anymore but could have value as a receiving back and pass blocker.

NYJ - Tim Tebow says relationship with QB Mark Sanchez is strong

Source: USAToday.com - Jim Corbett

New York Jets QB Tim Tebow said he and QB Mark Sanchez have made a pact to not allow all of the intense scrutiny at training camp hurt their friendship. Tebow added the two quarterbacks have hit it off since Tebow arrived in a trade from the Denver Broncos. 'It is a strong relationship and it is genuine and we know we have to have a great relationship because of the scrutiny and everybody watching,' Tebow said. 'We just have to handle this pretty well. But also just because there's stuff more important than just winning football games. But also, he's someone of extremely high character and a good person. I know regardless if we're on the same team or opposing teams, we're going to be friends.'

[ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ OUR VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

Tebow is always going to say the right thing. He's a fiery competitor but struggles as a practice player. If Sanchez struggles in the regular season the Jets could turn their fortunes over to Tebow.

HOU - WR Andre Johnson says he is motivated

Source: Houston Chronicle - John McClain

Houston Texans WR Andre Johnson said he is motivated entering the 2012 season because there are critics who feel he is on the verge of exiting his prime. Johnson recently turned 31. 'I've been hearing things (from) people saying I'm getting old,' Johnson said. 'I don't feel old at all. I laugh at it, (but) it's definitely motivation. I feel like I have a lot to prove. I want to show people I can still play at a high level. I know I can still put up big numbers.'

[ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ OUR VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

Johnson should finish the year as a top 2 fantasy WR if he can stay healthy. Those who think he's on the decline are sadly mistaken.

NYJ - Rex Ryan remains confident in his abilities

Source: The Star-Ledger Jenny Vrentas

New York Jets head coach Rex Ryan said he believes he is the best defensive football coach in the NFL. 'I look at myself as the best defensive coach in football,' Ryan said. 'That's saying something, because Dick LeBeau is pretty darn good. Bill Belichick is pretty good. But that's the way I've always believed. And you know what, I believe it, because the guys I coach with, there's no doubt about that, and the guys I have coached. But that's the truth, that's kind of how I feel, and I'm going to be more involved over there, whether it is calling games or whatever.'

[ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ OUR VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

Ryan is never short on confidence. He's hoping he won't be short on wins in the regular season. His bravado is infectious, but if the Jets don't make a postseason run his words will lose their impact.

Kansas City Chiefs TE Tony Moeaki (knee) said he feels like he is a full-go in his return from a knee injury.

[ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ OUR VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

Moeaki could be very productive as a move TE for the Chiefs if he can stay healthy this year. That may be a problem as he has a long injury history dating back to his days in college.

DET - R.J. Archer trying to beat out Kellen Moore

Source: MLive.com - Anwar Richardson

Detroit Lions QB R.J. Archer has a noticeably stronger arm than QB Kellen Moore, and the battle is one to watch during the preseason. Moore is receiving more reps in practice for now, as the two battle for the No. 3 job.

[ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ OUR VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

Moore is likely to win the QB3 position in Detroit. The Lions could choose to slide Moore through to the practice squad if they choose to only carry two QBs. Moore lacks arm strength but is very smart and extremely accurate on short and underneath routes.

[ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ OUR VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

Miami Dolphins WR Jeff Fuller was impressive in the team's first practice Friday, July 27, including a touchdown on a 'nine route.'

[ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ OUR VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

Fuller needs to have an impressive camp if he wants to make the final roster or even the practice squad. He played under OC Mike Sherman at Texas A&M but struggled as a senior last year. Fuller has good size, but was sloppy as a route runner and failed to get much separation. He's an option for the practice squad as he could develop as a future target for former college teammate QB Ryan Tannehill.

Miami Dolphins QB Matt Moore was not overly impressive in the first day of training camp Friday, July 27, throwing one interception and losing a fumble on a handoff.

[ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ OUR VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

Moore is kind of like former Dolphins QB Chad Pennington, he's not known as a good practice player. If Moore is going to win the starting QB job over David Garrard it will be because of his performances in preseason games and not from the performances on the practice field.

Source: WEEI.com - Morley Quatroche

New England Patriots LB Dont'a Hightower is looking to immediately earn the respect of his veteran teammates. 'All those guys in front of me that have played here and had so much success, right now I'm just trying to do what I can so I can learn from these guys,' Hightower said. 'And get as much respect from them as I can.'

Hightower should be able to earn that respect quickly. He spends a lot of time studying film and is a student of the game. Hightower lives and breathes football, and his off field work shows up during gametime.

BUF - DE Mark Anderson impressive early in camp

Source: The Buffalo News - Mark Gaughan

Buffalo Bills DL Mark Anderson has been impressive early on in training camp, showing plenty of explosiveness at the line of scrimmage. 'Explosive - that's the word that comes to mind when I think of him,' OG Andy Levitre said. 'He's just really quick. He's got a lot of good moves and he uses them quickly. He's dangerous on third downs. He's a playmaker, for sure.'

Most talk about the addition of DE Mario Williams (with good reason) but don't overlook Anderson. We think the Bills have the best defensive front four in the league and should be able to generate pressure regularly on opposing QBs.

DET - CB Alphonso Smith gets first crack

Source: MLive.com - Anwar Richardson

Detroit Lions CB Alphonso Smith received first-team reps Friday, July 27, and appears to be the early replacement for CB Eric Wright (Buccaneers).

Smith likes to gamble, but can make some plays in coverage for the Lions. He's not the biggest CB but has the speed to stick with WRs downfield. We think rookie Dwight Bentley will challenge for the starting right CB job as well.
