MIN - RB Adrian Peterson arrested

Source: Houston Chronicle - Carol Christian

Minnesota Vikings RB Adrian Peterson was arrested Saturday, July 7, in Houston around 2:30 a.m. CT. He was charged with resisting arrest. Around closing time, Peterson reportedly got into an argument with a police officer who was working at the club. Peterson spent eight hours in jail before being released on bail. He has a court date scheduled for July 13.

Arrested for "Resisting Arrest" always seems curious. When this all shakes out, we don't expect it to have any affect on Peterson.

TEN - RB Chris Johnson running hard

Source: ProFootballWeekly.com - Arthur Arkush

Tennessee Titans RB Chris Johnson is reportedly running harder than he did before his 2,000-yard campaign in 2009, according to a team source. Johnson has added bulk to his frame this offseason, and he also has been setting an example for the team's younger players.

[ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ OUR VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

All signs have been very positive for Johnson this offseason. He had a down year last season when he finished as the 16th best fantasy RB. We feel he could be a top 5 fantasy RB once again this year.

DAL - Trust DeMarco Murray to carry the load

Source: ESPN.com - Dan Graziano

Dallas Cowboys RB DeMarco Murray had five games with 20 or more carries last season, the most for any running back since head coach Jason Garrett became offensive coordinator in 2007. Murray also became the first back under Garrett to have four consecutive games with 20 or more carries.

[ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ OUR VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

Murray can be a workhorse back for the Cowboys as long as he can stay healthy. He's one of the most versatile fulltime backs in the league and can make big plays as a runner or receiver out of the backfield.

CLE - QB Colt McCoy does not expect fair competition

Source: NFL.com

Cleveland Browns QB Colt McCoy is not convinced he will receive a fair opportunity to compete for the team's starting quarterback job. 'We'll see, I don't know,' McCoy said. 'There are a lot of things I can control and I'm controlling those things. The things beyond that I try to do my best to not worry about those and go out there and do what I do on the field, that's the most important thing. Beyond that, I can't do anything else.'

[ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ OUR VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

McCoy is likely to get dealt sometime during training camp. His popularity with the team and the fan base could make things ugly if rookie Brandon Weeden struggles as the starter.

DEN - QB Peyton Manning likes iPad playbooks

Source: FOXSports.com

Denver Broncos QB Peyton Manning likes the team's idea of incorporating iPad playbooks this upcoming season. 'Peyton loves it,' video director Steve Boxer said. 'He was one of the first guys I dropped video into an iPad for.' Using the iPad is not mandatory this season, but 90 percent of the roster has made the switch from paper to tablet 'Itís easier for the video guys to send it to all the different players, and itís a great way to study for these guys,' Manning said. 'Thereís no excuse not to have the playbook and the game film to study.'

[ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ OUR VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

We''ll make sure to get a copy of the Footballguys iPad Magazine to Manning. Expect more teams to follow suit with electronic playbooks for their players.

DAL - QB Tony Romo better than QB Eli Manning?

Source: ESPN.com

Former NFL WR Amani Toomer stood by his comments that Dallas Cowboys QB Tony Romo is a better quarterback than New York Giants QB Eli Manning, his former teammate. 'I love Eli, and I respect the hell out of him as a person,' Toomer said. 'But I have to do my job, and I have to look at him beyond what the perception is because the perception doesn't always go hand in hand with the reality.' Statistically, Romo is better than Manning, according to Toomer. 'I was all set - Romo's no good, he's a fourth-quarter choker - and then I started doing my job,' Toomer said. 'I started looking at the numbers. I started looking at the statistics. I started looking at the quarterback rating. And I was shocked. I was shocked at how good Tony Romo's statistics really were. This guy is really impressive.'

[ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ OUR VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

Numbers and stats are deceptive. Pointing to a QB rating is just as ridiculous. Eli Manning has the hardware, and can make plays in pressure situations. Romo is known as a late-game choker and struggles to make a difference when it counts. Toomer also didn't play with the current incarnation of Eli Manning. The veteran QB has vastly improved his game from 2008, the last time Toomer played alongside him.

NFL - WR Antwaan Randle El to announce retirement

Source: Northwest Indiana Times - Mike Nieto

Free-agent WR Antwaan Randle El (Steelers) will announce his retirement from the National Football League July 14 at his skills training academy, according to his brother.

[ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ OUR VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

The converted college QB carved out a nice career for himself as a WR and gadget player. Randle El threw the nicest pass in Super Bowl XL when he connected with Hines Ward for a 43-yard TD off a double reverse.

CIN - WR Jordan Shipley a candidate to start on PUP list

Source: Bengals.com - Geoff Hobson

Cincinnati Bengals WR Jordan Shipley (knee) is a candidate to start the season on the Physically Unable to Perform list because they are being cautious with his recovery and have depth at wide receiver.

[ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ OUR VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

That would force Shipley to miss the first six weeks of the regular season. After that, the team would have three weeks to determine his fate for the rest of the year. He could be re-activated or put on season ending Injured Reserve at that time. Shipley has great hands and could be a quality slot WR but injuries have prevented him from producing during his pro career.

PHI - TE Brent Celek looked to be healthy

Source: thesidelineview.com - Adam Caplan

Philadelphia Eagles TE Brent Celek (hip, groin) appeared to move well during organized team activities (OTAs) and minicamp, looking fluid off the line.

[ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ OUR VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

More good news for the Eagles here. Celek is a talented move TE but injuries kept him from playing up to his potential last year. He finished last year as the 10th best TE in fantasy football, but could once again be top 5 at the position if he can stay healthy. Celek presents tremendous value as he's going off the board at TE16 in the middle of the thirteenth-round in most fantasy drafts.

PHI - Ronald Johnson turned heads

Source: thesidelineview.com - Adam Caplan

Philadelphia Eagles WR Ronald Johnson showed solid route running and hands during organized team activities (OTAs) and minicamp, but he has an uphill battle if he is to make the team. The club might only keep four receivers.

[ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ OUR VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

Johnson was sixth-round pick by the 49ers last year, but failed to make the final roster. He spent most of his rookie season on the Eagles practice squad and is trying to make a name for himself this offseason. In college Johnson showed good ball tracking ability and strong hands.

PHI - Marvin McNutt is WR Riley Cooper's biggest threat

Source: thesidelineview.com - Adam Caplan

Philadelphia Eagles WR Riley Cooper appears to have the No. 4 receiver job sewn up already, as he practiced with a lot of confidence during organized team activities (OTAs) and minicamp. However, rookie WR Marvin McNutt didn't get much of a chance in minicamp, and he could emerge as a threat during training camp and the preseason.

[ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ OUR VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

Cooper is a better route runner, but he lacks the size and ball skills that McNutt has. The rookie from Iowa knows how to use his frame to box out defenders and has the wingspan to pluck passes out of the air at the highest point.

PHI - WR Jeremy Maclin appears fully recovered

Source: thesidelineview.com - Adam Caplan

Philadelphia Eagles WR Jeremy Maclin appears to be 100 percent during organized team activities (OTAs) and minicamp after dealing with health issues last season.

[ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ OUR VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

Nothing but good news for the Eagles here. Maclin could be the team's leading WR this year as they look to make a Super Bowl run in 2012. His offseason work with QB Michael Vick should have immediate results this year. Maclin's ADP is WR19 and you can draft him in the late fourth-round of most drafts.

PHI - QB Trent Edwards wasn't comfortable in workouts

Source: thesidelineview.com - Adam Caplan

Philadelphia Eagles QB Trent Edwards had his mechanics adjusted to the style of the team's other quarterbacks, and he was uncomfortable in organized team activities (OTAs) and minicamp. He will work with former NFL assistant coach Ted Tollner until training camp starts.

[ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ OUR VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

Edwards is competing with Mike Kafka to be the primary backup behind Michael Vick. His struggles in minicamp have put him behind in that competition. We think Edwards could get cut as the Eagles are likely to only carry three QBs this year. Rookie Nick Foles is locked in as the third-string, developmental QB.

PHI - QB Michael Vick showed quick release

Source: thesidelineview.com - Adam Caplan

Philadelphia Eagles QB Michael Vick was able to get the ball out of his left hand faster to his intended target during organized team activities (OTAs) and minicamp.

[ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ OUR VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

Vick may be in a make or break year for the Eagles. He's going to greatly benefit from an offseason of work with the team and we expect him to finish the year as a top 10 fantasy QB.

BAL - DE Terrell Suggs remains optimistic

Source: ESPN.com

Baltimore Ravens LB Terrell Suggs (Achilles') remains optimistic that he will play at some point during the 2012 season after tearing his right Achilles' tendon in April. Suggs wouldn't pinpoint when he'll return to the field but would say fans should expect to see him out there at some point. 'Just be optimistic that you all will see me playing this year,' Suggs said. He is pleased with his progress since suffering the injury. 'It's going great,' Suggs said. 'I'm in good spirits, and I like the progress that I'm making. I came out of the boot last week, so I'm just walking right now and doing muscle strength.'

[ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ OUR VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

Suggs originally felt he could be back sometime in November, but that was overly optimistic. We'd be surprised if he played at all in 2012.
