IND - RB Donald Brown appears to be favorite for most playing time

Source: ProFootballWeekly.com - Arthur Arkush

Indianapolis Colts RB Donald Brown appears to be the favorite for the most playing time among running backs this season but will not be guaranteed anything during training camp.

[ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ OUR VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

No surprise here. New head coach Chuck Pagano has publicly commented how he feels Brown can be a full time back. Brown is a good runner and receiver out of the backfield, but hasn't quite produced like some expected when he was a first-round pick in 2009.

MIN - WR Percy Harvin will attend camp

Source: ESPN - Adam Schefter

Minnesota Vikings WR Percy Harvin has every intention of reporting to training camp at the end of the month despite the drama that went down during minicamp, according to a team source.

[ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ OUR VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

Whatever issue Harvin had earlier must have been worked out. Some feel it was a playing time problem, and that Harvin wanted to be used more this year. That's an easy fix, and the Vikings are more than happy to use Harvin more than the 58% of snaps they did in 2011.

NFL - WR Gordon could go 3rd-6th round in Supplemental Draft

Source: Cecil Lammey - 102.3 ESPN Denver, Footballguys.com

Cecil Lammey, NFL Insider for 102.3 ESPN Denver and senior writer for Footballguys.com, reports that several team sources he checked with feel that former Baylor WR Josh Gordon could go between round 3 and round 6 in the 2012 Supplemental Draft.

[ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ OUR VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

Gordon has a great size/speed combination and some team may take a chance on his athleticism. He's unpolished as a route runner and lacks elite body adjustment when passes are coming in. Off field issues (a drug arrest that got him suspended from Baylor) may give some teams pause when considering the talented rookie.

HOU - Expected to wait on new deal with QB Matt Schaub

Source: ProFootballWeekly.com - Arthur Arkush

The Houston Texans are expected to wait until after the 2012 season before starting contract extension talks with QB Matt Schaub because the team wants to make sure he can come back from his foot injury before making a financial investment in him.

[ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ OUR VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

It's a smart move by the Texans. Schaub is a talented player, but is known to get dinged up. If he can stay healthy the Texans expect to be Super Bowl contenders in 2012. Next offseason the Texans could always slap the Franchise Tag on Schaub to insure he stays in Houston.

PIT - No progress in talks with WR Mike Wallace

Source: The Sports Xchange - Len Pasquarelli

The Pittsburgh Steelers have not made any progress in contract talks with restricted free-agent WR Mike Wallace and the two sides have not had a lot of negotiations lately.

[ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ OUR VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

That could change as training camp approaches. We think Wallace won't miss any time in camp, and could be a top 5 fantasy WR in Todd Haley's new offense.

MIN - Derrick Coleman said disability will not issue

Source: FOXSportsNorth.com - Brian Hall

Minnesota Vikings RB Derrick Coleman said his difficulty hearing will not be a factor this season because he has talked with the coaches and quarterbacks about the situation. 'It doesn't affect me that much anymore,' Coleman said. 'I sat down with the coaches and players in the quarterback room and let them know, 'Whenever we change the play, you already say it twice, just turn around one time and say it one more time. It don't hurt nobody.'

[ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ OUR VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

Coleman is a bruising back who makes his living between the tackles. Our very own Cecil Lammey watched Coleman earlier this year during the week of practice at the Player All Star Classic in Little Rock, AR and was not overly impressed. Coleman is not creative or elusive as a runner, plus he doesn't have much speed in the open field.

GB - OC hopes RB James Starks can have breakout season

Source: Milwaukee Journal Sentinel - Rob Reischel

Green Bay Packers offensive coordinator Tom Clements said he believes there is a chance that RB James Starks can have a breakout season in 2012. 'You hope that every guy gets better every year,' Clements said. 'He has a lot of ability. He's powerful, runs hard, catches the ball out of the backfield pretty well. We're hopeful.'

[ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ OUR VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

Starks is an upright space runner who needs big holes to produce. He's not creative or elusive and has difficulty creating space on his own. We feel the Packers will end up using Brandon Saine and Alex Green more than some think.

IND - Two RBs may need to make team with special teams

Source: ProFootballWeekly.com - Arthur Arkush

Indianapolis Colts RBs Deji Karim and Darren Evans may need their special teams play to determine whether they make the final roster.

[ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ OUR VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

We like Karim as a change of pace back because of his elusiveness and low center of gravity. However, we believe Evans is a better all around talent. Evans is a bigger back who understands angles and does a good job of running to daylight.

IND - Vick Ballard impressed coaches during offseason

Source: ProFootballWeekly.com - Arthur Arkush

Indianapolis Colts RB Vick Ballard impressed the coaching staff with his performance during offseason workouts and will be in the mix for playing time during training camp.

[ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ OUR VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

Ballard is a RB/FB 'Tweener who can also be used effectively as a receiver out of the backfield. He'll compete with Delone Carter for playing time behind Donald Brown.

IND - Ball security will be important for Delone Carter

Source: ProFootballWeekly.com - Arthur Arkush

Indianapolis Colts RB Delone Carter (thumb) will have to show that the ball security issues he had as a rookie are fixed during training camp before he gets meaningful playing time. His offseason thumb injury could affect his ball security.

[ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ OUR VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

Carter is a talented between the tackles runner who can grind down a defense. We like his ability to run through arm tackles, and burst in the open field. His ball security issues must be fixed before the team increases his role. Carter is likely to be the RB2 behind Donald Brown on the depth chart.

NE - TE Daniel Fells expected to be ready for camp

Source: Boston Herald - Jeff Howe

New England Patriots TE Daniel Fells (ankle) is expected to be ready for the start of training camp after missing some of the offseason workouts because of an injury.

[ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ OUR VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

Fells has missed time this offseason, but is a seasoned vet who gives the Patriots quality veteran depth at the TE position. He'll likely win the 3rd spot behind Rob Gronkowski and Aaron Hernandez.

BUF - Coach not sure what will happen at LT

Source: BuffaloBills.com - Chris Brown

Buffalo Bills head coach Chan Gailey said he is not sure if OT Cordy Glenn or OT Chris Hairston will win the starting left tackle job during training camp and will have to see how they perform during camp.

[ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ OUR VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

Glenn is the more naturally gifted player here and should win the job. The rookie could play either Tackle position and has the functional strength to play Guard as well.

BAL - Three to compete for No. 3 TE job

Source: BaltimoreRavens.com - Garrett Downing

Baltimore Ravens TEs Davon Drew, Matt Balasavage and Bruce Figgins will compete for the No. 3 tight end spot during training camp. The team will likely will want the No. 3 tight end to block during goal-line situations, catch passes over the middle and make tackles on special teams.

[ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ OUR VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

We like Drew in this competition. The converted QB is extremely athletic and has the speed to attack the deep middle seam of the defense.

TB - Unlikely to move CB Ronde Barber back to CB

Source: The Sports Xchange - Len Pasquarelli

The Tampa Bay Buccaneers likely will not consider moving FS Ronde Barber to cornerback even though CBs Eric Wright and Aqib Talib have had off-field issues. The team will evaluate the other cornerbacks on the roster before considering the possibility of moving Barber back to cornerback.

[ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ OUR VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

We've heard conflicting reports about where Barber would be playing if/when suspensions happen to other players at the position. Barber's not the same player he used to be but could easily play CB if the team need him to.

BUF - Aaron Williams, Stephon Gilmore may win starting jobs

Source: BuffaloBills.com - Chris Brown

Buffalo Bills CBs Aaron Williams and Stephon Gilmore have a very good chance to be the starting cornerbacks when the regular season begins.

[ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ OUR VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

Gilmore is a talent, and could turn into a star in this league. He transitions quickly and smoothly out of his backpedal and has the speed to keep up with speedy NFL WRs.
