It was a wild first round and ESPN.com has a nice recap.

From the totally expected first two picks to a wild night of teams dealing picks, the first round was as entertaining as any I can remember in a while.

If there's a clear benefit of the new rookie wage deal, it's the fact teams seemingly feel much more at ease wheeling and dealing picks.

This was clearly evident in tonight's first round. NFL.com has a nice run down of some of the deals.

In a world that's more and more driven by Twitter, ESPN assembled some fun tweets by players during the first round tonight.

Robert Griffin III posted, "HAIL TO THE REDSKINS!!!!
It's an honor to be your quarterback #CantWait" Plus lots more.MIN - RB Adrian Peterson beats teammates in wind sprints
Source: 1500ESPN.com - Tom Pelissero
Minnesota Vikings head coach Leslie Frazier said Thursday, April 26, that RB Adrian Peterson (knee) joined teammates for wind sprints this week at voluntary offseason workouts, and he beat them four times.
[ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ OUR VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]
Considering Peterson is just four months removed from knee surgery this is amazing. His recovery is going well but we still expect the Vikings to take it easy on him in OTAs and training camp.
CLE - Brandon Weeden selected 22nd overall

The Cleveland Browns selected Oklahoma State QB Brandon Weeden with the 22nd overall selection in the NFL Draft.

MIA - Unsure if Ryan Tannehill will start immediately
Source: NFL.com - Jeff Darlington
Miami Dolphins general manager Jeff Ireland said Thursday, April 26, that it is uncertain if QB Ryan Tannehill will step in and start immediately. 'We're not going to make any predictions about if he'll start (in 2012) - but he's a competitor,' Ireland said. The team already has veteran QBs David Garrard and Matt Moore on the roster.

It's way too early for any GM to say anything meaningful for rookies with regard to playing time so don't get too excited. But we like what Tannehill can bring to Miami.
CLE - Pat Shurmur ecstatic about Trent Richardson pick
Source: Akron Beacon Journal - Nate Ulrich
Cleveland Browns head coach Pat Shurmur said Thursday, April 26, that he was happy that the team selected RB Trent Richardson with the No. 3 pick overall in the NFL Draft. 'As we went through the process, we knew he was our guy,' Shurmur said. 'So we did what he had to do to secure it. We had pretty good knowledge there were teams behind us that wanted him as well, so we gave up a couple of picks to make sure we got him.'
[ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ OUR VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]
I'd be excited too if I were Shurmur. Richardson is clearly a special player and we're looking for good things, even if the team situation is less than ideal.
MIA - Ryan Tannehill selected eighth overall
Source: KFFL.com
The Miami Dolphins selected Texas A&M QB Ryan Tannehill with the eighth overall selection in the NFL Draft.
[ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ OUR VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]
This pick makes a lot of sense for Miami who was facing an ugly public relations issue missing out on QBs. Tannehill is a great fit reuniting with his former coach and should be a productive player for the Dolphins.
CLE - Trent Richardson selected third overall

The Cleveland Browns selected University of Alabama RB Trent Richardson with the third overall pick in the 2012 NFL Draft.

I can't wait to hear some of the behind the scenes gamesmanship that went into this one with the Vikings trading this pick. Bottom line is that Richardson is a Brown.
WAS - Robert Griffin selected second overall
Source: KFFL.com
The Washington Redskins selected Baylor QB Robert Griffin III with the second overall pick in the 2012 NFL Draft.
[ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ OUR VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]
No surprise here. But I remain super optimistic about Griffin's chances in Washington. They gave up a ton to get him, but if this guy is what we think he is, he'll be worth it.
IND - Andrew Luck selected first overall
Source: KFFL.com
The Indianapolis Colts selected Stanford QB Andrew Luck with the first overall pick in the 2012 NFL Draft.
[ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ OUR VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]
No surprise here. Luck is the best QB to enter the NFL Draft since Peyton Manning back in 1998. Like Manning, Luck will lead the Colts as their franchise QB. He's smart, tough, accurate, and a fantastic leader.
That'll do it for today, Folks. Thanks for reading and enjoy the rest of the draft. We'll see you Monday as we kick over to our Daily Coverage.
Peace, J
