MIN - RB Adrian Peterson thinks he can be ready for camp

Source: 1500ESPN.com - Tom Pelissero

Minnesota Vikings RB Adrian Peterson (knee) said his lateral skills, flexibility and range of motion with his knee is improving and believes he could be ready for limited participation when training camp begins. Head coach Leslie Frazier indicated the Physically Unable to Perform list will still be an option for Peterson.

[ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ OUR VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

At this point, we're not ruling it out. Peterson upstaged Vikings OTAs by beating Percy Harvin in a race uphill. Peterson's current second/third round ADP might seem too high, but he could live up to it yet.

SF - Had no plans to sign QB Peyton Manning

Source: Sacramento Bee - Matt Barrows

San Francisco 49ers head coach Jim Harbaugh said Wednesday, May 30, the team never pursued Denver Broncos QB Peyton Manning this offseason. Harbaugh added the team has always been committed to Alex Smith. 'It's an erroneous perception that we were flirting with Peyton Manning,' Harbaugh said. 'I keep hearing that over and over again. It's silly, and it's untrue. It's phony. Even the perception that we were pursuing him ... we were evaluating him. I've said all along, Alex Smith has been our quarterback. There's been no scenario, other than Alex choosing to sign with another team, that we would have considered him not as our quarterback.'

MIN - RB Adrian Peterson beats teammates in running

Source: The Associated Press

Minnesota Vikings RB Adrian Peterson (knee) beat a few of his teammates running at the team's practice facility. Peterson, who is still just six months removed from major knee surgery, beat WR Percy Harvin in runs up a steep hill twice Wednesday, May 30. 'He's amazing. I told him the other day I don't think he's human,' Harvin said. 'Two weeks ago he beat a couple guys in a race. When I got here yesterday, I told them guys they should be embarrassed.'

[ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ OUR VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

Peterson seems to be ahead of schedule every time we check in with him. His fantasy impact early might be lessened, but by the end of the year, he could be back to stud form.

WAS - RB Tim Hightower expected to be ready for camp

Source: Twitter

Washington Redskins head coach Mike Shanahan said he expects RB Tim Hightower (knee) will be ready for the start of training camp.

[ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ OUR VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

Hightower seemed like a Shanahan favorite last year, and he's likely to at least take passing down work away from Roy Helu, if not beat him out to start. Expect another year of Shanahanigans at the Redskins' running back position.

MIA - QB competition very close

Source: ProFootballTalk.com - Mike Florio

Miami Dolphins head coach Joe Philbin said the three-way competition between QBs Matt Moore, David Garrard and Ryan Tannehill for the team's starting quarterback job has yielded no clear-cut favorite. 'I think it's very close,' Philbin said. 'I think it's very close. I think they all bring different attributes to the table. I will say that the room itself, the quality of the individuals in the room, I think is excellent.'

[ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ OUR VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

Tannehill is a like a horse that starts quick out of the gate because he already knows the Mike Sherman offense. His lack of experience will probably hurt him in the preseason. Unless Moore and Garrard are terrible in camp and preseason, the Dolphins will not throw Tannehill into the fire in week 1.

NYG - Victor Cruz hasn't missed a beat

Source: The Star-Ledger - Mike Garafolo

New York Giants offensive coordinator Kevin Gilbride said Wednesday, May 30, that WR Victor Cruz has been impressive during organize team activities (OTAs). 'That's what's nice about now. It's like he hasn't missed a beat,' Gilbride said.

[ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ OUR VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

Defenses keyed on Cruz in the postseason, and that trend could continue this year. He is going as a low-end WR1 in the second or third round, which could be a little high for a player that snuck up on defenses for most of last season.

CAR - OC making tweaks to offense

Source: Charlotte Observer - Joseph Person

Carolina Panthers WR Steve Smith said offensive coordinator Rob Chudzinski has made some tweaks to the playbook to try to make the offense more diverse. Smith said he is encouraged by the additions but it will take a little time to learn the new plays.

[ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ OUR VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

Chudzinski did a magnificent job creating an offense to take advantage of the talents he had to work with, just like he did back in Cleveland in 2007. Smith is still a WR1 that you can draft as a WR2 this year.

WAS - Robert Griffin learning offense

Source: Twitter

Washington Redskins QB Robert Griffin III said he believes he knows 60 to 70 percent of the offensive playbook at this point.

[ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ OUR VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

Griffin is highly intelligent and sure to be quick study. If he struggles this year, it won't be for not knowing the offense.

DEN - Offense sloppy during workout

Source: The Associated Press

The Denver Broncos offense was sloppy during OTA workouts Wednesday, May 30. QB Peyton Manning and WR Eric Decker stuck around after practice to continue working together after having several miscommunications during the workout.

[ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ OUR VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

Manning had chemistry that was built for years with Reggie Wayne and Dallas Clark. He has three months to firm things up with his new group of receivers, but it will remain a work in progress well into the regular season. That's only one of the reasons this typically elite fantasy quarterback is sometimes falling out of the top ten at his position in early drafts.

NYG - TE Martellus Bennett not on field during OTAs

Source: New York Post - Paul Schwartz

New York Giants TE Martellus Bennett (hamstring) has not been participating in organized team activities because of a hamstring injury. Tight ends coach Mike Pope said Bennett weighed 291 pounds last week and does not think Bennett's legs can support that weight while doing the things the team has asked him to during workouts.

[ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ OUR VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

That sounds like Bennett's body has changed to be more of a two-way tight end than a receiving tight end. He is looking less attractive as a sleeper tight end in fantasy leagues this year.

DEN - RB Knowshon Moreno limited

Source: The Denver Post - Mike Klis

Denver Broncos RB Knowshon Moreno (knee) has been limited during organized team activities this offseason because he has not been cleared to take part in team drills.

[ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ OUR VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

Moreno is on the roster bubble and could be cut before the season if he can't prove his worth to the team during camp and the preseason.

NYJ - WR Santonio Holmes continues to skip OTAs

Source: CBSSports.com

New York Jets WR Santonio Holmes did not attend organized team activities Thursday, May 31. Holmes did not attend the first week of offseason workouts as he was in Germany to support the troops.

[ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ OUR VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

Stephen Hill continues to look like a good sleeper with Holmes not going the extra mile to repair the damage done last year.

DAL - Owner says WR Dez Bryant could return punts

Source: ESPNDallas.com - Tim MacMahon

Dallas Cowboys owner and general manager Jerry Jones said he is not opposed to using WR Dez Bryant as a punt returner in 2012. 'I have no issue with us making business decisions relative to him returning punts,' Jones said. 'What I do want him to do is to get enough repetitions so he can have a sense of fielding them and when to field them and when not to field them and make those kinds of judgments, but I like him back there to use him. When we've got a long field or a chance for a return, he's quite a weapon and I'm for using him.'

[ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ OUR VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

This has been a recipe for injuries to Bryant in the past, even though he soups up their return game. Bryant's owners should hope the Cowboys use him sparingly in this capacity.

PIT - TE Heath Miller to have expanded role

Source: Pittsburgh Post-Gazette - Ed Bouchette

Pittsburgh Steelers TE Heath Miller is expected to play a key role as a receiver in new offensive coordinator Todd Haley's system. 'Haley is excited about what Heath Miller is capable of,' head coach Mike Tomlin said. 'He's been very clear about that, his excitement to work with Miller. I would imagine that the tight end is going to be a part of our plan.'

[ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ OUR VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

Miller has always had the ability to do much more for his fantasy teams than the Steelers have let him do. He'll still have to share with three very talented wide receivers, so Miller is only worth taking as part of a TEBC plan.

HOU - Three competing for backup QB role

Source: HoustonTexans.com - Nick Scurfield

Houston Texans head coach Gary Kubiak indicated Wednesday, May 30, that QBs John Beck and Case Keenum are competing with QB T.J. Yates for the primary backup job to QB Matt Schaub.

[ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ OUR VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

Yates learned a lot during his trial by fire last year, so he would have to implode in camp and preseason to lose the job to Beck. Keenum is going to have to be completely overhauled to make the transition from the University of Houston's shotgun/spread offense.

CHI - WR Devin Hester seeing time in the slot

Source: Chicago Tribune - Vaughn McClure

Chicago Bears WR Devin Hester worked in the slot during practice Wednesday, May 30, in a role which might have offered a glimpse into his future role. 'It's fun,' Hester said. 'It's easier to read coverages in the slot.' New offensive coordinator Mike Tice and quarterbacks coach Jeremy Bates said Hester would have an integral role in the offense despite the addition of WR Brandon Marshall during the offseason.

[ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ OUR VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

Hester might have been more marginalized in the pass offense this summer if Johnny Knox was healthy, but as it stands now, he's the only speedy receiver they have. He won't have much fantasy value outside of return yardage leagues, but he'll take a little bit of upside away from Brandon Marshall.

CHI - WR Johnny Knox working on elliptical machine

Source: Chicago Tribune - Vaughn McClure

Chicago Bears WR Johnny Knox (back) has been working on an elliptical machine, as he slowly works his way back from spinal fusion surgery. Knox knows there is a chance he could miss the entire 2012 season.

[ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ OUR VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

Slowly is the operative word here. We wouldn't expect anything from Knox this year. His absence could open up a spot for Dane Sanzenbacher or Devin Thomas.

NYJ - CB Darrelle Revis not ruling out holdout

Source: New York Daily News - Manish Mehta

New York Jets CB Darrelle Revis said he is not sure if he will report for the start of training camp because of his contract situation.

[ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ OUR VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

New season, same story with Revis. He was still one of the very best cornerbacks in the league, although players like Stevie Johnson exposed a few chinks in his armor. He'll end up playing regardless of the gambit he takes over the summer to earn more money this year.

NYJ - Demario Davis working on nickel defense

Source: ESPNNewYork.com - Rich Cimini

New York Jets LB Demario Davis was working with the first-team nickel defense during organized team activities Thursday, May 31. The Jets see Davis as a pass coverage linebacker.

[ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ OUR VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

Davis's ability to be on the field for passing downs right away bodes well for his long-term IDP dynasty league value. He could easily be an everydown linebacker very early in his career if the Jets decide to move on from Bart Scott.
