SD - RB Mathews to get 'everything he can handle'

Source: Michael Gehlken - San Diego Union Tribune

Mark Gehlken, from the San Diego Union Tribune, reports via Twitter that Chargers head coach Norv Turner told reporters after practice that RB Ryan Mathews would get "everything he can handle" in 2012.

[ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ OUR VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

This could be fantastic news for Mathews fantasy owners this year. Mathews is no longer going to be splitting touches as FB Mike Tolbert moved on to the Panthers in free agency. Turner is looking for Mathews to be the workhorse they drafted him to be. After finishing last year as the 7th best RB in fantasy football, Mathews could crack the top 5 this year. His current ADP is 1.07 in standard 12-team leagues.

MIN - WR Harvin not ready for drills

Source: Jeremy Fowler - Pioneer Press

Jeremy Fowler, from the Pioneer Press, reports Vikings WR Percy Harvin was in attendance for OTAs but is not ready to work in team drills. Harvin is recovering from shoulder surgery he had last month to clean out bone spurs.

[ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ OUR VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

Nothing to worry about for fantasy owners here. The procedure was considered minor and Harvin should be ready for training camp.

GB - WR Driver 'I'm not going anywhere'

Source: Tyler Dunne - Milwaukee Journal-Sentinel

Tyler Dunne, from the Milwaukee Journal-Sentinel, reports Packers WR Donald Driver recently said in a radio interview that he's "not going anywhere."

[ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ OUR VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

Driver has expressed his desire to retire with the Packers. He's looking to play one or two more years before hanging up the cleats for good. Driver is not the same player he used to be and will play in a reserve role behind Jordy Nelson, Greg Jennings, and Randall Cobb.

BUF - WR Johnson missing OTAs due to groin surgery

Source: Mark Gaughan - Buffalo News

Mark Gaughan, from the Buffalo News, reports Bills WR Stevie Johnson is not participating in OTAs as he recovers from offseason groin surgery.

[ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ OUR VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

The team is just being cautious with their star WR here. The procedure happened earlier this month and is considered minor. Johnson should be at full strength when training camp starts.

NYG - WR Nicks says he's pain free

Source: Ohm Youngmisuk - ESPN New York

Ohm Youngmisuk, from ESPN New York, reports Giants WR Hakeem Nicks has told head coach Tom Coughlin that he is pain free today. Nicks fractured the fifth metatarsal in his foot last week in OTAs and is going to miss four to six weeks while he rehabs.

[ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ OUR VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

Nicks also told his coach he would be back for training camp. Originally thought to be an injury that required 12 weeks to recover from that number now is around six weeks according to some sources. Nicks is known for being a quick healer and right now we have to take him at his word. Either way, we will be keeping a close eye on this one for you.

DEN - WR Eric Decker and QB Peyton Manning building quick rapport

Source: The Associated Press

Denver Broncos WR Eric Decker and QB Peyton Manning have quickly developed a rhythm and rapport together. Decker said it has been great working out with Manning; noting Manning communicates very well and shares with the receivers what is rolling through his mind on each play.

[ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ OUR VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

Decker is elated to be working with Manning this year. He has the best hands of any WR on the Broncos roster and could perform like Austin Collie did for Manning in Indianapolis.

NE - Anthony Gonzales released

Source: ESPNBoston.com - Mike Reiss

The New England Patriots released WR Anthony Gonzalez Tuesday, May 29.

[ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ OUR VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

No surprise here. When the team added Jabar Gaffney it made WR roster spots even more precious. Gonzalez could find it difficult to latch on with a new team.

IFL - WR Terrell Owens released

Source: ESPNDallas.com - Tim MacMahon

The Allen Wranglers of the Indoor Football League released WR Terrell Owens Tuesday, May 29, because he violated his contract with the team. Owens reportedly refused to play in two upcoming home games and was a no-show for an appearance at a children's hospital.

Some guys just never learn.

TEN - To use rookie WR Wright as KR/PR too?

Source: Jim Wyatt - The Tennessean

Jim Wyatt, from The Tennessean, reports the Titans have not made it clear if they will use first-round pick WR Kendall Wright as a return man in 2012. The decision depends on how many receivers make the final roster, and whether the Titans think he'd be an upgrade over Marc Mariani, a Pro Bowler in 2010.

[ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ OUR VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

Wright certainly could be an impact return man, but he also may have a bigger role on offense than some think this season. With Kenny Britt rehabbing from a second procedure on his injured knee it has allowed Wright to show off his talents as a wideout. Wright reminds many in the scouting community of Panthers WR Steve Smith.

IND - WR Avery focused on rebound

Source: Craig Kelley - Colts.com

Craig Kelley, from Colts.com, reports Colts WR Donnie Avery is focused on turning around his disappointing pro career in 2012. Avery signed with the Colts as an unrestricted free agent in March. "It's a great fit for me. I'm glad in this scheme that we're running a lot of three-to-five receiver sets. Everyone has the opportunity to get the ball," said Avery. "It's an offense where you have to defend the whole field. I like it. We're going to give defenses problems."

[ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ OUR VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

A 2010 preseason injury prevented Avery from playing up to his potential with the Rams. He missed that entire year and was waived by St. Louis last preseason. He joined the Titans during the 2011 season but failed to impress. Avery will compete with rookie T.Y. Hilton to be the team's slot WR behind Reggie Wayne and Austin Collie.

BUF - WR Hagan working with starters in OTAs

Source: Mark Gaughan - Buffalo News

Mark Gaughan, from the Buffalo News, reports Bills WR Derek Hagan is working with the first-team while Stevie Johnson recovers from offseason groin surgery.

[ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ OUR VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

Hagan started opposite Donald Jones as the Bills first-team offense put in their work. David Nelson is working as the team's slot WR, and deep dynasty league owners shouldn't forget about Marcus Easley. Injuries have kept him from playing up to his potential, but he's arguably the most athletically talented out of the Bills WR behind Johnson.

DET - Titus Young, Nick Fairley back on field

Source: The Associated Press

Detroit Lions WR Titus Young and DL Nick Fairley were both back on the field Tuesday, May 29.

[ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ OUR VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

Young was involved in an altercation with a teammate earlier this month, and regrets sucker punching FS Louis Delmas and says the time away was necessary for him and his teammates. Fairley was arrested for the second time this offseason. This time he was charged with driving under the influence. Fairley was also arrested back in April on a misdemeanor charge of marijuana possession.

NYG - Won't look to WR Plaxico Burress

Source: ESPNNewYork.com - Ohm Youngmisuk

New York Giants head coach Tom Coughlin said the team will not look to sign free-agent WR Plaxico Burress (Jets) with WR Hakeem Nicks (foot) dinged up heading into training camp.

[ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ OUR VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

Instead of looking to the past by adding Burress, Coughlin insisted the team would instead "look for the next Victor Cruz." Burress has gotten little interest on the open market and may have to wait for injuries to hit in training camp before he gets an offer from a team.

HOU - WR Mike Sims-Walker to work out

Source: ESPN - Adam Schefter

The Houston Texans have scheduled a workout for free-agent WR Mike Sims-Walker (Jaguars) Wednesday, May 30.

[ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ OUR VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

Injuries and inconsistencies have kept Sims-Walker from playing up to his potential during his pro career. The Texans are looking for a third WR to play behind Andre Johnson and Kevin Walter since losing Jacoby Jones to the Ravens in free agency. If signed Sims-Walker would compete with Lestar Jean for the job.

BUF - DE Mario Williams ready to roll

Source: BuffaloBills.com - Chris Brown

Buffalo Bills DE Mario Williams is returning to a 4-3 defensive alignment, which he feels will cater to his pass rushing strength. Williams is excited to start taking part in the team's OTAs so he can pick up the team's terminology and have a better understanding of the plays.

[ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ OUR VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

Great news for the Bills here. Adding pass rushers like Williams and Mark Anderson should help the Buffalo defense immensely. Williams is working hard this offseason to get comfortable in the Bills system.

DAL - CB Orlando Scandrick not open to position shift

Source: ESPNDallas.com - Tim MacMahon

Dallas Cowboys CB Orlando Scandrick is unwilling to play a cornerback/safety hybrid position to get CB Mike Jenkins onto the field. 'Not happening,' Scandrick said. New secondary coach Jerome Henderson wasn't closing the door on a potential move or different role for Scandrick, however. 'All those players, we'd like to use them interchangeably and be versatile,' Henderson said.

[ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ OUR VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

Now that the Cowboys added Morris Claiborne (2012 Draft) and Brandon Carr (free agency) they're looking for ways to get four CBs on the field. Publicly they're saying trading Jenkins is not an option. However, when we get into training camp that sentiment could change.
