KC - RB Jamaal Charles likely will not be cleared before camp

Source: The Kansas City Star - Adam Teicher

Kansas City Chiefs head coach Romeo Crennel said RB Jamaal Charles (knee) likely will not be cleared to practice before the end of offseason workouts. Crennel said he is hopeful Charles will be ready for the start of training camp.

[ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ OUR VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

There's no reason to be worried about this news. The Chiefs are likely playing it very safe with their star running back. In the meantime, Peyton Hillis will get a ton of first-team reps in OTAs while he is reunited with Brian Daboll, the offensive coordinator who oversaw his big 2010 campaign with the Browns.

NE - WR Brandon Lloyd looking good

Source: The Boston Globe - Shalise Manza Young

New England Patriots WR Brandon Lloyd has been impressive during organized team activities this week because of his knowledge of the playbook.

[ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ OUR VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

Lloyd has impressed many of the team's beat writers, including Greg Bedard who indicated that the veteran wide receiver had also performed well when the media wasn't present. He is looking like a value play at his current ADP of WR27.

NYG - WR Hakeem Nicks update

Source: ESPN - Adam Schefter

Updating previous reports, New York Giants WR Hakeem Nicks (foot) is likely to be out only four to six weeks after fracturing a bone in his foot, and he could very well play in the season opener against the Dallas Cowboys.

[ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ OUR VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

This jives with the timeline for Dallas Cowboys fifth-round pick wide receiver Danny Coale, who suffered a similar injury in OTAs. While we usually trust Schefter, let's wait until we hear this from Nicks or the team before moving him back up our rankings. After all, it was the team's official site that had the 12 week timetable for Nicks return.

CHI - Teammate not optimistic about deal for RB Matt Forte

Source: NFL.com - Marc Sessler

Chicago Bears LB Brian Urlacher said he and his teammates hope franchise free-agent RB Matt Forte gets a long-term contract this offseason but is not optimistic about that happening. Urlacher said he thinks Forte will be with the team when the season begins even if he does not get a new deal.

[ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ OUR VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

Urlacher is dealing with the same people Forte is dealing with so he should know. Whether to take Forte in early drafts comes down to your belief about whether he will hold out into the season.

KC - Jeff Allen in walking boot

Source: The Kansas City Star - Adam Teicher

Kansas City Chiefs OG Jeff Allen (ankle) was in a walking boot during organized team activities Thursday, May 24, because of an ankle injury.

[ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ OUR VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

Allen was drafted to be the heir to Ryan Lilja's spot at left guard, so the missed OTAs aren't as costly as if the team was expecting him to compete to start this year.

CIN - Kevin Zeitler signed

Source: Bengals.com - Geoff Hobson

The Cincinnati Bengals have signed first-round draft choice OG Kevin Zeitler to a four-year contract. Financial terms were not disclosed.

[ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ OUR VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

The Bengals opted for Zeitler over David DeCastro by trading out of the 21 spot when DeCastro was still on the board. He makes a lot of sense for their power running game and could make Mike Brown look smart no matter how DeCastro does for the Steelers.

SEA - TE Kellen Winslow feels he fits offense well

Source: The Associated Press

Seattle Seahawks TE Kellen Winslow said he fits into the Seattle offense very well. He feels he and TE Zach Miller will create a lot of mismatches and be difficult for defenses to cover. Head coach Pete Carroll said Winslow should be a big factor on third down and in the red zone.

[ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ OUR VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

Winslow is probably the better fantasy TE of the two this year because he will be used primarily as a receiver. Zach Miller was poised to get back to previous production levels with Matt Flynn and a healthy offensive line, but Winslow's presence will cut into his production.

CHI - ILB Brian Urlacher open to testing free agency

Source: The Sports XChange

Chicago Bears LB Brian Urlacher said he would be willing to test free agency next offseason if the team does not sign him to a contract extension before free agency begins. Urlacher said he wants to finish career with the Bears but does not know what would happen if he hit free agency.

[ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ OUR VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

Urlacher has logged a lot of injuries, but has remained a productive leader throughout. The Bears seem to have an inclination to play hardball with their stars, so seeing Urlacher in another uniform next year isn't that outlandish.

IND - Looking to trade for CB Mike Jenkins

Source: ESPN - Adam Schefter

The Indianapolis Colts have made several offers to the Dallas Cowboys in an attempt to acquire CB Mike Jenkins and one of the offers is still on the table.

[ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ OUR VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

Jenkins would be an instant starter and a good fit in an aggressive defense, but now the Cowboys are saying they aren't looking to trade him.

PIT - CB Keenan Lewis expects big season

Source: Pittsburgh Post-Gazette - Ed Bouchette

Pittsburgh Steelers CB Keenan Lewis said he expects have a big season in 2012 and believes he will make the Pro Bowl. Lewis will be competing with CBs Cortez Allen and Curtis Brown for a starting cornerback spot.

[ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ OUR VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

The Steelers will be giving the young corner trio a lot of work regardless of who wins the starting job. The last we saw the team's secondary, they were getting torched by Tim Tebow, so Lewis and company will be on the spot when the team goes back to Denver to open the season against Peyton Manning.
