CLE - Trent Richardson has high expectations

Source: The Associated Press

Cleveland Browns RB Trent Richardson said he aspires for greatness during his pro career. 'I am going to hold my expectations high, real high, very high,' Richardson said. 'The expectations that they have for me now, I don't think it is high enough for me and I am going to go higher and I am going to go to the extreme. You never set your expectations at a limit and that is just me being a man and being a competitor and an athlete.'

[ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ OUR VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

We think Richardson could perform like a top 10 fantasy RB this year. He's the best RB to come out of college since Adrian Peterson in 2007. Richardson runs with an aggressive style and gets stronger as he wears down opponents.

BAL - RB Ray Rice promises a Super Bowl

Source: Twitter

Baltimore Ravens RB Ray Rice made a promise to fans Saturday, May 12, that the team will capture the Super Bowl this season.

[ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ OUR VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

It's good for Rice to feel this way, but the whole Super Bowl guarantee hasn't worked the same since Broadway Joe Namath promised one before Super Bowl 3.

CHI - RB Matt Forte may not attend training camp

Source: ESPNChicago.com - Michael C. Wright

Chicago Bears franchise free-agent RB Matt Forte at this point appears to be poised for a training camp holdout.

[ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ OUR VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

Forte has publicly shown his displeasure on Twitter so this news comes as no surprise. He is not happy with his current contract status and could hold out of training camp to show his disapproval. The Bears signed Michael Bush in free agency as insurance to a Forte holdout.

BUF - Feel QB Vince Young will add competition

Source: ESPN.com

Buffalo Bills general manager Buddy Nix feels the addition of QB Vince Young will create competition for the No. 2 quarterback job. 'We think adding Vince to our roster will create more competition for the backup quarterback position,' Nix said in a statement. 'He brings with him some unique physical abilities that most are aware of and that will make the competition interesting. It's all about improving our team.'

[ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ OUR VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

Young's a great addition for the Bills. He should be able to beat out Tyler Thigpen if he plays up to his potential.

NYJ - Turn down HBO offer

Source: ESPNNewYork.com - Rich Cimini

The New York Jets will not be making a return appearance on HBO's summer series 'Hard Knocks,' according to a league source. This time, the new coach on the team is offensive coordinator Tony Sparano, and according to the source, they want to minimize distractions as he installs his offense in training camp.

[ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ OUR VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

The Jets will have enough of a distraction with the addition of Tim Tebow. The media circus that followed him in Denver should be even greater in the Big Apple.

CLE - Brandon Weeden struggles under center

Source: Akron Beacon Journal - Nate Ulrich

Cleveland Browns QB Brandon Weeden threw the ball well at both practices Friday, May 11, but he struggled working under center. Weeden fumbled twice during the afternoon practice. He spent the past two seasons at Oklahoma State playing out of the shotgun.

[ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ OUR VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

No surprise here. Even the victory formation is run out of the shotgun at Oklahoma State. Weeden isn't an athletic QB so getting smooth 3,5 & 7 step drops may be a problem. The Browns are not going to hand him the starting job, but his transition to the pros won't be as smooth as the other three first-round QBs.

BUF - QB Ryan Fitzpatrick's job secure

Source: The Buffalo News - Tim Graham

Buffalo Bills general manager Buddy Nix said Friday, May 11, that the starting job of QB Ryan Fitzpatrick is not in jeopardy despite the signing of QB Vince Young.

[ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ OUR VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

Fitzpatrick is entrenched as the team's starter. Young was added for veteran depth and will compete with Tyler Thigpen to be the primary backup behind Fitzpatrick.

NYJ - QB Mark Sanchez looking to get bigger

Source: ESPN.com - James Walker

New York Jets QB Mark Sanchez said he would like to get a little bigger and stronger this offseason to help him stay relatively healthy during the season.

[ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ OUR VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

Sanchez must be watching too much of Tim Tebow in the weight room. Adding muscle to be more durable is great, but a QB doesn't want to get too bulky.

SF - Coach says Alex Smith has improved delivery

Source: San Jose Mercury News - Cam Inman

San Francisco 49ers head coach Jim Harbaugh said he is pleased with the way QB Alex Smith has improved his throwing motion this offseason. Smith worked with motion specialist Tom House to work on improving his motion.

[ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ OUR VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

Good sign for the 49ers here, especially since they added so many weapons to the passing game this offseason. The defense is still intact from last year and now the offense has a plethora of weapons. The pressure is on Smith to get this team to the Super Bowl.

CHI - Expected to use WR Devin Hester in multiple roles

Source: ESPNChicago.com - Michael C. Wright

Chicago Bears WR Devin Hester is expected to have a more significant role in the offense this season because the team plans to use him in a variety of ways.

[ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ OUR VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

With the addition of Alshon Jeffery it could limit the number of targets Hester receives in the passing game. Hester only had 26 receptions last year and finished as WR95 in FBG scoring. He'll have some fantasy value in leagues that score return yardage but is barely worth a roster spot in more traditional leagues.

BAL - RB Ray Rice feeling good entering 2012 season

Source: Twitter

Baltimore Ravens RB Ray Rice said Saturday, May 12, he feels the best he's ever felt heading into the 2012 season.

[ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ OUR VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

Rice is the key to the Ravens offense. His presence allows for better coverage on the outside as defenses jam the box in an attempt to stop the run.

TEN - Kendall Wright receives first playbook ever

Source: NFL.com

Tennessee Titans WR Kendall Wright said the playbook he received from the team was the first one he has ever had. Wright played college football at Baylor, where head coach Art Briles uses practices, film study and meetings to teach plays signaled into the offense. Nothing was written down and bundled into a playbook of any form. 'For me, it's learning everything,' Wright said. 'I was just out there. We had a lot of different stuff we ran at Baylor. But right now I have a playbook that I'm studying every night and going over with coaches in the meetings. It's a different learning process for me.'

[ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ OUR VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

Wright is starting with a clean slate and should be able to catch on quickly. He could make an instant impact with the Titans as a speed slot WR behind Kenny Britt and Nate Washington. Wright has good pad speed and is very dangerous after the catch.

CIN - Tyler Hansen impressing coordinator

Source: Bengals.com - Geoff Hobson

Cincinnati Bengals offensive coordinator Jay Gruden said he is impressed with the accuracy and mobility QB Tyler Hansen has shown during the rookie minicamp.

[ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ OUR VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

Hansen is a very athletic QB who plays with toughness and high energy. His throwing motion needs work, but he does a good job of throwing on the run. Hansen impressed our very own Cecil Lammey at the 2012 Shrine Game earlier this year. We see him as a backup caliber QB who can develop on the practice squad.

CIN - OC thinks QB Tony Pike is holding back

Source: Bengals.com - Geoff Hobson

Cincinnati Bengals offensive coordinator Jay Gruden thinks free-agent QB Tony Pike (Panthers) is holding back on his passes and is not throwing full strength because of two surgeries he has had on his right elbow. Pike is taking part in the teamís rookie minicamp on a tryout basis. Gruden said Pike needs more time to get comfortable with the elbow.

[ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ OUR VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

Pike is not an impressive QB and has put forth a lackluster effort during his short pro career. We don't feel he's anything more than a third-string QB at best even if he does develop his skill set.

NYJ - Coach impressed with Terrance Ganaway

Source: The Star-Ledger - Mike Vorkunov

New York Jets head coach Rex Ryan said he has been impressed with RB Terrance Ganaway because his ability to play running back and fullback as well as his ability to catch the ball out of the backfield. Ryan said he also like the football smarts Ganaway has shown during workouts.

[ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ OUR VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

Ganaway is a big, straight line runner who is swift once he builds a head of steam. However, he's not creative or elusive as a runner and he loses too much speed when forced to change direction. Ganaway was not impressive at the Senior Bowl where he looked lost as a pass protector and receiver out of the backfield.

CHI - Alshon Jeffery will play in the slot

Source: ESPNChicago.com - Michael C. Wright

Chicago Bears WR Alshon Jeffery will play the 'Z' receiver spot in the slot.

[ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ OUR VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

This would put Devin Hester on the outside opposite Brandon Marshall. Hester has failed to develop as a WR and we think Jeffery will eventually be moved outside.

PHI - Fletcher Cox sees time at DE

Source: Philadelphia Inquirer - Jonathan Tamari and Jeff McLane

Philadelphia Eagles DT Fletcher Cox lined up at defensive end at times during practice Saturday, May 11.

[ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ OUR VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

Cox is position versatile and can line up anywhere on the Defensive Line. He's quick off the line of scrimmage and is able to knife between two Offensive Linemen consistently. When blocked, Cox has the ability to stack and shed as he finds his way to the ball carrier.

CLE - Phil Taylor to have surgery next week

Source: The Associated Press

Cleveland Browns head coach Pat Shurmur said DL Phil Taylor (pectoral) will have surgery next week, when the team will have a better sense of how long they'll be without him. Taylor tore his left pectoral muscle while doing bench presses in the weight room Thursday, May 10, and he could miss the 2012 season.

[ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ OUR VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

The recovery time for a pectoral injury is around six months. He's likely to begin the season on the PUP list. This will give the Browns until week nine to decide whether to activate him or put him on season ending Injured Reserve.

SD - To retire ILB Junior Seauís number

Source: KFFL.com

The San Diego Chargers announced late Friday, May 11, that they will retire former LB Junior Seau's No. 55 jersey in a halftime ceremony during the team's home opener Sept. 16.

[ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ OUR VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

Good to know that nobody will wear 55 for the Chargers ever again.
