DET - Mikel Leshoure injury update

Source: CBSSports.com

Detroit Lions head coach Jim Schwartz said RB Mikel Leshoure (Achilles') could be ready for training camp. 'I never put timetables on (injuries), but I would be surprised if he wasn't ready before (training camp),' Schwartz said.

[ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ OUR VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

Good news for the Lions here. If LeShoure can regain his pre-injury form he gives Detroit a great weapon at the RB position. He has a unique blend of size, power, and speed, plus he can be used as a receiver out of the backfield. The Lions have Kevin Smith and Jahvid Best too, but both have had their own injury problems in the past.

TEN - WR Kenny Britt thinks he may be ahead of schedule

Source: The Tennessean - Jim Wyatt

Tennessee Titans WR Kenny Britt (knee) said he feels ahead of schedule in his rehab but is not sure because he can't compare his injury to other player's injury.

[ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ OUR VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

Britt feels like he'll be better than ever when he comes back from this knee injury. If healthy, Britt can certainly perform like a fantasy WR1 every week. We think he'll post good numbers with either Matt Hasselbeck or Jake Locker at QB.

MIN - RB Adrian Peterson injury update

Source: NFL.com

Minnesota Vikings head coach Leslie Frazier said Wednesday, March 28, that RB Adrian Peterson (knee) is beginning to run 'on land' this week. Frazier said he is still cautiously optimistic that Peterson will be ready by Week 1 of next season. Peterson is 'just beginning to run this week on land,' Frazier said. 'It's too early right now to say he's absolutely going to make the first game but so far he's on target with everything we've asked him to do.'

[ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ OUR VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

Good news for the Vikings here. We expect them to be very cautious with Peterson as this moves forward. There's a good chance we will see very little from him in training camp or the preseason as the team doesn't want to aggravate his injury.

STL - QB Sam Bradford is healthy

Source: St. Louis Post-Dispatch - Jim Thomas

St. Louis Rams QB Sam Bradford (ankle) has fully recovered from his ankle injury, even though the injury lingered during the offseason. 'Sam finished his rehab probably about a month ago,' head coach Jeff Fisher said. 'The ankle lingered a little bit in the offseason. He's in good shape now.'

[ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ OUR VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

Bradford is trying to bounce back from a sophomore slump in 2011. The Rams turned down offers to trade him and believe that he can regain the promise he showed as a rookie.

NYJ - QB Mark Sanchez to blame for Tim Tebow's arrival?

Source: NFL.com

Former NFL RB Marshall Faulk said New York Jets QB Mark Sanchez has only himself to blame for the arrival of QB Tim Tebow. 'If I'm Mark Sanchez, and they bring in Tebow, it means I hit one of those spells that I always hit,' Faulk said. 'He's just - Mark hasn't been consistent throughout the flow of games. He went weeks at a time and not looked good.' Faulk singled out last season's clash between the Jets and Denver Broncos in Week 11 as proof. 'The pick-six that Mark Sanchez threw against Denver, that they ran back for a touchdown and, in turn, gave Tebow an opportunity to drive down the field with the game-winning touchdown - Mark Sanchez? Yeah, all this is on him.'

[ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ OUR VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

Faulk is right on the money here. Sanchez hasn't improved much as a QB in the three years he's been in the league. The Jets have had success because of a strong ground game and a stout defense. Last season both of those phases failed and Sanchez was unable to lift the team's play. This is certainly a make or break year for him.

WAS - Mike Shanahan a fan of Robert Griffin

Source: ProFootballTalk.com - Michael David Smith

Washington Redskins head coach Mike Shanahan said he loves Baylor QB Robert Griffin III not only as a quarterback, but as a person. 'He's a great guy, great parents - I had a chance to spend a couple hours with his parents, and you know where he gets it,' Shanahan said. 'Obviously, you look at the film and you like what you see on film. As we all know, from the collegiate level to the pro level there are growing pains. Every quarterback goes through it. But he's got such a big upside.'

[ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ OUR VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

There's a lot to like about Griffin. He's got a strong arm, good deep ball accuracy, and is extremely athletic. The Redskins have positioned themselves to select a true franchise QB with the number two overall pick.

WAS - Rookie QB could start Week 1

Source: The Washington Post - Mark Maske

Washington Redskins head coach Mike Shanahan said Wednesday, March 28, he will be open-minded about the possibility that the quarterback the team will select in the NFL Draft, either Baylor QB Robert Griffin III or Stanford QB Andrew Luck, will be the club's starter at the outset of his rookie season. However, that's not a given, according to Shanahan, who said the issue of whether the prized rookie starts immediately will depend on the young quarterback's progress during the offseason and training camp. 'You put him in there when you feel like he's ready to go,' Shanahan said.

[ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ OUR VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

We're fairly certain their rookie QB will start from day one. The Redskins gave up a king's ransom to acquire the number two overall pick. It would be foolish to make such a trade for a player you're going to sit early in his career.

CHI - Coach sees RB Michael Bush as complete back

Source: Chicago Sun-Times - Sean Jensen

Chicago Bears head coach Lovie Smith said the team added RB Michael Bush this offseason because he has the ability to be an all-around back in the offense.

[ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ OUR VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

Smith is right. Bush can be a workhorse RB, but is also a reliable receiver out of the backfield. Last year we saw Bush wear down, so a RBBC with Matt Forte would help keep him fresh.

SF - RB Brandon Jacobs, Kendall Hunter could split time

Source: ESPN.com

San Francisco 49ers RB Brandon Jacobs could share the team's backup role at running back with RB Kendall Hunter.

[ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ OUR VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

Brandon Jacobs will have to show us something new to think he'll be successful in San Francisco. To us, this feels like Kendall Hunter will be a value now.

PIT - Could look to add another RB

Source: CBSSports.com

The Pittsburgh Steelers are expected to add another running back to the roster this offseason with the uncertainty surrounding RB Rashard Mendenhall (knee). 'I am sure we are going to get another running back, whether it's in free agency or in the draft,' head coach Mike Tomlin said. 'We will address it.'

[ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ OUR VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

We certainly think the Steelers will be in the market for a back sometime during the draft. Rashard Mendenhall's knee injury may force him to miss the first few weeks of the season, or even be put on the PUP list. A RB like Robert Turbin (Utah State) is a perfect fit for Pittsburgh and could be a target in the third-round.

OAK - RB Darren McFadden likely ready for offseason workouts

Source: ANG Newspapers - Jerry McDonald

Oakland Raiders head coach Dennis Allen said RB Darren McFadden (foot) is expected to be ready for the team's offseason workout program. 'He's still kind of going through the rehabilitation process. He's been back in Oakland working out. We expect him to fully be able to go through the offseason program and ready to roll,' Allen said.

[ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ OUR VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

Good news for the Raiders here. Without Michael Bush (Bears) the team will be leaning on McFadden more than ever. When healthy he's simply one of the best RBs in the league, but he's struggled with various injuries during his entire career.

CAR - Panthers reportedly not looking to trade Jonathan Stewart

Source: Adam Schefter - ESPN

The Carolina Panthers reportedly are not looking to trade RB Jonathan Stewart in the offseason.

[ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ OUR VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

Rumors have been swirling about Stewart being on the trade block ever since FB Mike Tolbert was added via free agency. It sounds like at this time he will remain with the Panthers. We think teams like the Browns or Broncos could show interest if he was truly available.

NYJ - Team culture improving

Source: The Star-Ledger Jenny Vrentas

New York Jets OT D'Brickashaw Ferguson said the addition of QB Tim Tebow will likely be a circus atmosphere; however, Ferguson noted the team's locker room is getting a lot better since the end of last season.

[ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ OUR VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

I may get tired of this after a bit but right now, I say bring on the circus.

JAX - Jaguars comfortable with progress of Blaine Gabbert

Source: John Oehser - Jaguars.com

Jacksonville Jaguars head coach Mike Mularkey said Tuesday, March 27, that he is confident in QB Blaine Gabbert, and his ability to grasp the playbook. 'The things he's been doing, we'd like to see it more consistently the way we want to do it. There are flashes there when he has done that. The throws, the decisions and all of that, they are there,' Mularkey said. 'It absolutely is there on tape what he's capable of doing.'

[ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ OUR VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

The Jaguars passed on adding several different QBs through trade or free agency. Gabbert is their guy, but certainly in a 'make or break' year. We'll see if he can flourish under the guidance of Mularkey.

CHI - WR Johnny Knox to open season on PUP list

Source: Vaughn McClure - Chicago Tribune

Chicago Bears WR Johnny Knox (spine) is scheduled to start the 2012 season on the Physically Unable to Perform list, according to multiple sources familiar with Knox's progress. Knox was forced to wear a back brace after having surgery and continues to walk with a limp now. But there was more structural damage than initially anticipated, according to one source.

[ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ OUR VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

Not a surprise here. Knox's injury looked horrific as he was bent backwards by an oncoming tackler. There may be a chance that we don't see Knox at all in 2012.

CLE - Browns say they're happy with Colt McCoy as starter

Source: Mary Kay Cabot - Cleveland Plain Dealer

Cleveland Browns general manager Tom Heckert said the team is fine moving forward with QB Colt McCoy as their starting quarterback. 'We're fine with Colt McCoy as our quarterback,' Heckert said.

[ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ OUR VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

Understand this is GM talk in March. Everyone's happy with their current QB. As they look to acquire a new one. The move to keep McCoy as the team's starting QB could cost a lot of people their jobs if it fails. The team would be wise to consider Ryan Tannehill at the fourth overall pick. McCoy is likely best served as a backup QB.

NYG - Could show interest in RB Jonathan Stewart if available

Source: ESPNNewYork.com - Ohm Youngmisuk

The New York Giants likely would show interest in Carolina Panthers RB Jonathan Stewart if the Panthers made him available in a trade.

[ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ OUR VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

Stewart may be traded if the price is right as Carolina added RB/FB Mike Tolbert in free agency. The Giants lost Brandon Jacobs in free agency to the 49ers and could look to Stewart to play in a RBBC with Ahmad Bradshaw.

SF - Defend WR Randy Moss signing

Source: Scout.com - Aaron Wilson

San Francisco 49ers head coach Jim Harbaugh said he feels that signing WR Randy Moss was a smart move. Harbaugh feels the benefits Moss brings to the table outweigh the risks. 'We feel it's a good move for us, and we're excited to have Randy on our team,' Harbaugh said. 'Our dealings with him, our research, we feel that the merits outweigh the risks. I'm looking forward to coaching him. What's going to tell the whole story is from now, the offseason, through training camp, those day to day interactions, how he competes on the field. That's going to determine the reality.'

[ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ OUR VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

There were a few spots where Moss could go and fit right in. We see San Francisco as a good fit. Harbaugh will keep him in line, and Moss will give the team a true deep threat at the WR position. The design of the offense and QB Alex Smith may prevent him from having WR1 numbers in fantasy, but if he plays well he could be a high upside WR2.

MIA - Daniel Thomas in great shape

Source: The Miami Herald - Armando Salguero

Miami Dolphins head coach Joe Philbin said Wednesday, March 28, that RB Daniel Thomas was 'in great shape' when the two met a couple of weeks ago. 'He had a couple of nagging injuries from what I understand anyway,' Philbin said. 'Those have been rectified at this point in time and I'm excited about him. He's a big, different size player, big player.'

[ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ OUR VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

The team had high hopes for Thomas when they selected him in the second-round of the draft last year. He failed to live up to expectations as a rookie and is looking to bounce back this year. He's a big back who can grind down defenses, and is also a good receiving option out of the backfield.

MIA - RB Reggie Bush to line up in several spots

Source: The Miami Herald - Armando Salguero

Miami Dolphins head coach Joe Philbin indicated Wednesday, March 28, that RB Reggie Bush will line up in several different areas in the offense in 2012, including as a wide receiver in three-receiver sets. 'He just (does) a lot of different things,' Philbin said. 'We're excited about the flexibility it gives an offense.'

[ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ OUR VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

So long as Bush is healthy he'll produce like a low end RB1 because of his versatility. It's good to hear the new regime has many ideas on how to use him in 2012.

MIA - Open competition at QB

Source: The Miami Herald - Armando Salguero

Miami Dolphins head coach Joe Philbin said Wednesday, March 28, that QBs Matt Moore, David Garrard and Pat Devlin will get a lot of repetitions in the voluntary minicamp, and the reps will be divided up from there. 'It's an open competition,' Philbin said.

[ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ OUR VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

The Dolphins have one of the worst QB situations in the entire league. We fully expect them to address the position with a premium pick in the 2012 NFL Draft.

IND - Expect big things out of WR Donnie Avery

Source: The Indianapolis Star - Phil Richards

The Indianapolis Colts are hoping that WR Donnie Avery can live up to the promise which made him the first wide receiver taken in the 2008 NFL Draft. They need a speed guy who can stretch the defense, similar to the departed WR Pierre Garcon. 'That's the idea,' general manager Ryan Grigson said Wednesday, March 28. 'He had considerable production early on in his career, and of course he was well as he hope he gets back to that level.'

[ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ OUR VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

Expecting big things from Avery will only lead to disappointment. We think the Colts should first see if he can stay healthy.

DET - Remain interested in CB Asante Samuel

Source: FOXSportsDetroit.com

The Detroit Lions continue to have interest in Philadelphia Eagles CB Asante Samuel. Samuel's base salary of $9.5 million for 2012 is a sticking point for any team interested in dealing for him. However, Samuel reportedly has said he's interested in renegotiating his contract to lower his salary cap number.

[ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ OUR VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

The Lions lost Eric Wright in free agency to the Buccaneers and CB is certainly a position of need. Samuel is a veteran starter with plenty of experience and is good in coverage. It's exactly what the team needs in the secondary.
