With a strong performance in the final preseason game Anderson could end up the starting quarterback for the Cardinals.

MIN - WR Sidney Rice to start season on reserve/PUP list

Source: Chip Scoggins - The Minneapolis Star Tribune

The Minnesota Vikings have placed WR Sidney Rice (hip) on the reserve Physically Unable to Perform list, according to Chip Scoggins, of the Minneapolis Star Tribune.

[ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ OUR VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

This move forces Rice to miss the first six weeks of the season. At that point the team has three weeks to decide if they want to bring Rice back on the active roster or put him on season ending Injured Reserve.

DEN - RB Knowshon Moreno says he is 80 percent

Source: AP

Denver Broncos RB Knowshon Moreno (hamstring) said he is around 80 percent recovered from the hamstring injury he suffered at the start of training camp, according to The Associated Press. Head coach Josh McDaniels said he is not concerned about Moreno not being ready for the start of the regular season even though he has missed a majority of practice time because Moreno went through a similar situation last year.

[ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ OUR VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

If healthy Moreno would be the feature back for the Denver Broncos once again this year. Josh McDaniels will use Moreno early and often as the team wants to have a more run heavy offense to grind away a defense and eat up time off the clock. In addition to being the Broncos primary ball carrier, Moreno could also catch 50 passes out of the backfield this year.

SEA - Competition remains open for No. 1 running back spot

Source: CBSSports.com

Seattle Seahawks RBs Justin Forsett, Leon Washington and Julius Jones remain in competition for the teamís starting running back job, according to CBSSports.com. Head coach Pete Carroll is not concerned that there remains no clear-cut favorite at this point. 'Iím not really worried about that. I want them to be hungry,' Carroll said.

[ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ OUR VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

If Leon Washington is healthy then he should be the lead back in the Seahawks stable. Forsett proved last year that he could make big plays against unsuspecting defenses, but he does not have the speed or cutback ability of Washington. Jones is likely the odd man out in this competition because of his pedestrian skill set.

TB - QB Josh Freeman injury update

Source: Ira Kaufman - The Tampa Tribune

Tampa Bay Buccaneers QB Josh Freeman (thumb) had the soft cast removed from his fractured right thumb in anticipation of returning to practice this week, according to Ira Kaufman, of The Tampa Tribune.

[ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ OUR VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

Bucs coach Raheem Morris still remains optimistic that Freeman will be ready for week one of the regular season.

ARI - Shopping QB Matt Leinart

Source: Jay Glazer - FOXSports.com

The Arizona Cardinals have been shopping QB Matt Leinart around the league trying to trade him, reports FOXSports.comís Jay Glazer. Several teams have confirmed that they have received calls from the Cardinals, but it is not clear what they are asking for in compensation.

[ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ OUR VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

Interesting news for sure. There's also the question of what Leinart is worth in a trade.

ARI - Not considering releasing QB Matt Leinart

Source: Mike Sando - ESPN.com

Arizona Cardinals head coach Ken Whisenhunt said the team has not discussed the possibility of releasing QB Matt Leinart, reports ESPN.com's Mike Sando.

[ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ OUR VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

Leinart has publicly aired his displeasure with the quarterback rotation and some believe he may be on the trading block.

ARI - Coach believes QB Matt Leinart can start in league

Source: Mike Sando - ESPN.com

Arizona Cardinals head coach Ken Whisenhunt said he believes QB Matt Leinart can start in the NFL and believes Leinart has made progress in becoming a leader of the offense, but the team has not been successful during the preseason, reports Mike Sando, of ESPN.com. Whisenhunt said he is looking for the right person that will move the offense. 'So itís not so much about that person as it is about trying to find the right combination. Once again, I believe Matt can play. Iím not saying that at all. I am just trying to find the best match for our football team,' Whisenhunt said.

This is what we call coach speak people.

CHI - QB Jay Cutler getting roughed up in preseason

Source: John Mullin - CSNChicago.com

Chicago Bears QB Jay Cutler has been sacked nine times so far during the preseason but said the offensive line is doing a good job for him, reports John Mullin, of CSNChicago.com.

[ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ OUR VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

In a Mike Martz offense the quarterback will be under more pressure than usual because more players are sent out on passing routes instead of staying in to block. Cutler will have to learn to get rid of the ball quickly in this system in order to minimize the number of times he's hit behind the line of scrimmage.

MIN - Vikings could split carries at No. 2 RB

Source: Tom Pelissero - 1500ESPN.com

The Minnesota Vikings could decide to split carries between RB Toby Gerhart and RB Albert Young as the teamís No. 2 running back this season, reports Tom Pelissero, of 1500ESPN.com. Head coach Brad Childress said, ďI think it'll be by week and who we're facing and what exactly we need out of a second running back. If you remember last year, there were numbers of games where we didn't have a third running back up, and from time to time, that'll happen when we need maybe another tight end up or need another rush guy.Ē

[ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ OUR VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

We still think Gerhart is the logical handcuff to Peterson because he'll get the all important goal line work and early-down between the tackles carries if Peterson misses time.

CLE - RB Peyton Hillis seeing time with starters

Source: Steve Doerschuk - The Canton Repository

Cleveland Browns RB Peyton Hillis has been seeing time with the first-team offense during training camp and is leading the team in rushing yards, receptions and receiving yards this preseason, reports Steve Doerschuk, of the Canton Repository.

[ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ OUR VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

Hillis is more than just a fullback. He can be very productive as a runner and receiver out of the backfield, plus he has a good nose for the end zone. Montario Hardesty is a very talented back but has struggled with injuries throughout his entire career. Peyton Hillis could end up getting a chance to be the Browns starting running back and fantasy owners need to take note.

BUF - RB Marshawn Lynch to play Thursday

Source: Chris Brown - BuffaloBills.com

Updating a previous report, Buffalo Bills RB Marshawn Lynch (ankle) participated in practice Tuesday, Aug. 31, and will play in the final preseason game Thursday, Sept. 2, reports BuffaloBills.com's Chris Brown. 'Marshawn took quite a few reps today and looked good. He didnít look like there were any residual effects so weíre looking forward to seeing him Thursday night,' head coach Chan Gailey said.

[ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ OUR VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

Lynch is still third on the depth chart behind C.J. Spiller and Fred Jackson, so don't go out and grab him in your fantasy drafts if he has a good game. Lynch has never lived up to his potential in Buffalo, and may have to make his mark on another squad.

BUF - RB Fred Jackson practices Tuesday

Source: Chris Brown - BuffaloBills.com

Buffalo Bills RB Fred Jackson (hand) participated in practice Tuesday, Aug. 31, but was wearing a hard plastic cast on his left hand, reports Chris Brown, of BuffaloBills.com. Jackson said he struggled holding the ball with his left hand while wearing the brace but was able to catch passes. He believes he has a chance to play in Week 1. 'I feel thereís a 100 percent chance I could play, but itís going to come down to how much they want to get me out there and if they want to use me,' Jackson said. 'I still donít know what the deal is, but I think weíll find out more next week.'

[ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ OUR VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

This is great news for the Bills as they expect Jackson to be ready by week one of the regular season. Jackson will play in a RBBC with rookie sensation C.J. Spiller this year.

PHI - WR DeSean Jackson misses practice Tuesday

Source: CBSSports.com

Philadelphia Eagles WR DeSean Jackson (back) is not taking part in practice Tuesday, Aug. 31, according to CBSSports.com.

[ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ OUR VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

The Eagles will continue to be cautious with their star receiver as he's been a little banged up during the preseason.

ATL - Injury not only reason for RB Michael Turnerís downfall last year

Source: Jason Cole - Yahoo! Sports

Atlanta Falcons RB Michael Turner (ankle) was limited to 11 games last season because of an ankle injury, but Turner said his downfall last season was about more than an injury, reports Jason Cole, of Yahoo! Sports. Turner said, ďWe made the playoffs and then I played in the Pro Bowl and all that was cool. Then I got home and I was just beat up. I needed to just rest, and I just went into a cave and didnít come out.Ē Turner added, ďI thought Iíd just rest, but I was off too long, I got sloppy with my eating, the whole thing. By the time I got to training camp, I wasnít in good shape at all. It wasnít so much the weight, but my body fat was up. All of camp, Iím trying to catch up. Iím trying to get in football shape while Iím trying to lose weight, and I was just never right.Ē

[ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ OUR VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

Turner should equal, if not surpass his production in his breakout season of 2008. He's a worthy use of a mid-first round pick.

DEF - SEA - CB Josh Wilson traded to Baltimore

Source: Jason LaCanfora - NFL Network

The Seattle Seahawks have traded CB Josh Wilson to the Baltimore Ravens in exchange for a fifth-round draft pick, reports NFL.comís Jason La Canfora.

[ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ OUR VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

Wilson can also help as a kick returner. He has a chance to start with the injury problems looming at corner for the Ravens.

DEF - NE - CB Leigh Bodden placed on IR

Source: Jason LaCanfora - NFL Network

New England Patriots CB Leigh Bodden (knee, shoulder) has been placed on Injured Reserve because of a torn rotator cuff, ending his 2010 season, reports NFL.comís Jason La Canfora.

[ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ OUR VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

The Pats will likely push their first-round pick, Devin McCourty, into the starting lineup, which means they will have a grand total of one year experience between their starting corners. This could actually pour gasoline on the Patriots passing game as they might get into more track meets this year.

DEF - CIN - CB Adam Jones appears to have roster spot locked up

Source: Alex Marvez - FOXSports.com

Cincinnati Bengals CB Adam Jones will not take part in the teamís preseason finale, a sign that his chances of making the teamís final roster are good, according to Alex Marvez, of FOXSports.com. Head coach Marvin Lewis said Tuesday, Aug. 31, that Jones would be given a breather because of overuse during the preseason. If he were on the bubble for this weekendís final cuts, Jones likely would be forced to play in the preseason finale and further impress the team's front office. 'I think heís due a little rest,' Lewis said. 'Heís had a very, very good camp.'

[ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ OUR VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

It looks to us that Adam Jones is not just back, but back and looking as good as ever. Jones is always one pillowcase of bills away from disaster, but he's looking like a nice comeback story right now.
