NE - QB Tom Brady back on field for OTAs

Source: Wendi Nix, ESPN.com

ESPN's Wendi Nix reported Tuesday that Tom Brady returned to the practice field passing a milestone as he recovers from knee surgery.

[ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ OUR VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

Wearing a t-shirt and warmup pants, he threw easily and looked quick and comfortable with his footwork dropping back to pass. Wendi Nix reported that the team was "energized" by Brady's return and that things were "upbeat" and "confident".

IND - QB Manning less than pleased with coaching situation

Source: Mike Chappell, Indianapolis Star

Colts QB Peyton Manning said Tuesday, May 26, that he would like to know more on the team's recent coaching changes. "I can't tell you what's going on," Manning said during a break for one of the team's organized team activity sessions today at its Westside complex. "I will say I don't think it's been the most properly communicated scenario around here."

"It's not a situation that I'm just thrilled about," he said. "I think the communication has been pretty poor in my opinion. Somebody says one thing, then somebody else says another thing.

"I'm not sure everybody's on the same page in this building. I'm just trying to focus on playing quarterback well."

[ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ OUR VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

Manning seems to be letting off just a little bit of steam here. We have no doubt that the Colts will accommodate their star QB.

BUF - WR Lee Evans thinks he will be doubled less

Source: Chris Brown, BuffaloBills.com

Chris Brown, of BuffaloBills.com, reports Buffalo Bills WR Lee Evans said he does not think he will be double-covered as much this season as he was last season because of the addition of WR Terrell Owens.

[ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ OUR VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

'I think it will certainly drop. I was double-covered a lot last year. I think that it will drop. It's hard to say by how much. I think teams will just try to schematically do different things that take people away at certain times, but it will be on the quarterback to make the right read on what the defense is trying to do, and see who's open and make the play. We'll see,' Evans said. Terrell Owens is going to get plenty of targets and make plenty of plays for the Bills in 2009. Perhaps his biggest contribution may come as a distraction for the defense, which will open up running lanes and leave the speedy Lee Evans with single coverage. With T.O. commanding double teams, Evans threatening deep, and Steve Johnson or Shawn Nelson working the underneath routes the Bills could have a very healthy passing game in 2009.

CIN - QB Carson Palmer throwing well

Source: Joe Reedy, The Cincinnati Enquirer

Joe Reedy, of The Cincinnati Enquirer, reports Cincinnati Bengals QB Carson Palmer (elbow) looked good throwing the ball during practice Tuesday, May 26.

[ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ OUR VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

This is great news for the Bengals, who hope to be playoff contender once again in the brutal AFC North. The Bengals aren't going to overwork Palmer at this point but he should be back on the attack once the regular season begins.

BUF - RB Fred Jackson putting in extra work on receiving skills

Source: Chris Brown, Buffalobills.com

Chris Brown from Buffalobills.com is reporting that RB Fred Jackson is putting in extra time to work on his receiving skills. Whether it's in the slot or out wide Jackson has seen a heavy dose of receiver work, which is interesting considering the depth that the Bills have at the position already.

[ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ OUR VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

We reported a couple of days ago about the Bills splitting Jackson out wide in addition to handling carries behind Marshawn Lynch. Lynch will most likely miss the first 3 games of the season due to suspension and Jackson is set to be the starter while Lynch is out. When Lynch returns Jackson's fantasy value may not take as big of a hit as some are expecting. We could see Jackson and Lynch lined up in the backfield at the same time, and with Buffalo wanting to run a no-huddle offense they may be passing to Jackson early and often.

MIN - DT Pat Williams says QB Tarvaris Jackson needs to put in more work

Source: Alex Marvez, FOXSports.com

Alex Marvez, of FOXSports.com, reports Minnesota Vikings DT Pat Williams said during a radio interview that he believes QB Tarvaris Jackson needs to put in more time to try to become a better quarterback.

[ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ OUR VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

'I talk to Tarvaris all the time (and) tell him you have to put in the time,' Williams said. 'This ain't college no more. This is the NFL. You have to put in more time than you are used to putting in. If you are putting in four hours, you have to put in eight. You have to put in more time than what he's doing. I think if he puts the right time in, he will be a great quarterback in the league.' If Favre doesn't go to Minnesota then Jackson will battle former Texans backup Sage Rosenfels for the starting job in 2009.

NFL - WR Matt Jones told he will not be suspended

Source: Chris Mortensen, ESPN

Chris Mortensen, of ESPN.com, reports Dave Butz, agent for unrestricted free-agent WR Matt Jones (Jaguars), said the NFL told Jones he would be fined but not suspended as a result of his violation of a court-mandated drug program.

[ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ OUR VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

Matt Jones catches a break here as he'll be able to sign with another team if one wants him. Jones violated the drug program when he drank alcohol during an outing. Jones has been fined $50,000 but is appealing the fine. This news may help him catch on with another team before training camp.

TB - TE Kellen Winslow likes new offense

Source: PewterReport.com

Charlie Campbell and Jim Flynn, of PewterReport.com, report Tampa Bay Buccaneers TE Kellen Winslow said he like the new offense offensive coordinator Jeff Jagodzinski has brought to the team.

[ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ OUR VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

'It's a very simple offense and I like it because it's not too much in terms of volume of words. It's tight end friendly, it's running friendly and it's wide receiver friendly. Whoever gets open is going to be open and get the ball. We're also going to run the ball. I'm just going to do my best to be a piece of the puzzle and make plays,' Winslow said.

CIN - QB Carson Palmer impressed with RB Cedric Benson

Source: Geoff Hobson, Bengals.com

Geoff Hobson, of Bengals.com, reports Cincinnati Bengals QB Carson Palmer said he has been impressed with RB Cedric Benson this offseason and believes Benson will be used early and often this season.

[ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ OUR VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

"Most backs after three or four years are looking at the offseason trying to take care of their body," Palmer said. "Cedric's not doing that." Benson is trying to continue the good impression that he made on the team last season.

NE - QB Tom Brady hopes to play another decade

Source: Peter King, SI.com

Peter King, of SI.com, reports New England Patriots QB Tom Brady said he would like to play another 10 years in the league.

[ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ OUR VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

Fantasy owners would like that as well. Tom Brady has gone from 6th round pick, to Super Bowl Champion, and potential Hall of Fame QB. Perhaps he's taking some cues from Brett Favre here, but hopefully he won't toy with our emotions in the twilight of his career.

CAR - RB Mike Goodson could be used as a slot receiver

Source: Steve Reed, CarolinaGrowl.com

Steve Reed, of CarolinaGrowl.com, reports the Carolina Panthers could use RB Mike Goodson as a slot receiver at times this season.

[ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ OUR VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

This is an important story to remember when you're in the late rounds of your fantasy drafts. Mike Goodson is an explosive RB that some in the scouting community compared to Reggie Bush. When Carolina drafted him some were proclaiming his fantasy value dead because he would be behind RBs DeAngelo Williams and Jonathan Stewart. Both Williams and Stewart have had durability issues in the past and Goodson could step into the RB2 role if one were to go down with injury. However, we are seeing a change in the NFL as more teams go to a 3-headed RBBC. If Goodson impresses John Fox enough we could see him worked in as a runner and a receiver. He is so dangerous anytime he touches the football the Panthers will find many ways to get it in his hands.

NFL - Former HC Denny Green believes QB Michael Vick could play in UFL

Source: Will Brinson, SportsRadioInterviews.com

Will Brinson, of SportsRadioInterviews.com, reports former NFL head coach Dennis Green, who now is a coach in the United Football League, said during a radio interview that he believes Atlanta Falcons QB Michael Vick could play in the new league this season if no NFL team decides to sign him.

[ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ OUR VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

The former Cardinals and Vikings coach had this to say, "I just think that the United Football League is for players who didn't quite make it the way they thought they could and there are a lot of guys in the National Football League that fit that. I think he's paid his debt to society. Again, it's not my call, I'm just giving you my opinion." Getting a player like Michael Vick would be huge for the upstart league. We'll have to see if Vick gets reinstated by NFL Commissioner Roger Goodell before we can really begin to speculate where - and in what league - he'll play.

ARZ - WR Anquan Boldin plans to change agents

Source: Mike Sando, ESPN.com

Mike Sando, of ESPN.com, reports Arizona Cardinals WR Anquan Boldin has informed agent Drew Rosenhaus, the Arizona Cardinals and the NFL Players Association of plans to fire Rosenhaus amid stalled attempts to force a trade or a new contract.

[ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ OUR VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

Five days must pass between the firing and hiring of agents. Boldin informed the NFLPA of Drew Rosenhaus' termination Friday, the five-day period began Saturday so Boldin can hire a new agent beginning Thursday. Boldin is hoping that a fresh perspective might help give him some finality with this situation.

CLE - WR Josh Cribbs to report to minicamp Tuesday

Source: Mary Kay Cabot, The Cleveland Plain Dealer

Mary Kay Cabot, of the Cleveland Plain Dealer, reports Cleveland Browns WR Josh Cribbs will report to the team's voluntary minicamp Tuesday, May 26, according to agent J.R. Rickert.

[ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ OUR VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

Cribbs, who has four years remaining on a six-year, $6.77 million contract, wants a deal similar to the four-year, $40 million contract WR/RT Devin Hester signed with the Chicago Bears last off-season. Browns Head Coach Eric Mangini requested that Cribbs call him last week, and the two met face to face at the Browns facility on Thursday. In addition to playing on offense and special teams, Cribbs is working at strong safety and could challenge for the nickel-back role.

DEF - CAR - Sherrod Martin appears to be favorite for No. 3 CB job

Source: Steve Reed, CarolinaGrowl.com

Steve Reed, of CarolinaGrowl.com, reports Carolina Panthers CB Sherrod Martin appears to be the leading candidate for the No. 3 cornerback job at this time.

[ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ OUR VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

Sherrod Martin has an outstanding size/speed combination and is a naturally athletic Cornerback that could also line up at Free Safety. He flips his hips easily and doesn't lose much speed when he has to turn and run. While not a ballhawk, Martin did break up many passes during his college career and can read the receiver when the ball is coming in. With good coaching he could develop into a very solid starter in the NFL.

DEF - CAR - DE Julius Peppers unlikely to work at workouts

Source: Steve Reed, CarolinaGrowl.com

Steve Reed, of CarolinaGrowl.com, reports Carolina Panthers DE Julius Peppers, who still has not signed his franchise tender offer, likely will not attend any of the team's voluntary workouts.

[ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ OUR VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

The Panthers gave up their 1st round pick in 2010 to move up and get DE Everette Brown out of Florida State in the 2nd round. If Peppers decides to sit out this season then Carolina could try the rookie in his place. Brown had one of the best 1st steps off the line of scrimmage in this draft class, and does a good job of anticipating the snap. Brown also has enough agility to drop into coverage and was known to have a great work ethic in college.
