DEN - WR Marshall Could Face 2 Game Suspension?

Source: Lindsay H. Jones, Denver Post

Denver Broncos wide receiver Brandon Marshall was arrested on March 6 on a misdemeanor battery charge, his third arrest in 12 months and second involving a domestic dispute. Marshall could be suspended by the NFL under its Personal Conduct Policy because of multiple arrests and alleged incidents. He also was charged with driving under the influence in October 2007 and is set to go to trial in September on that charge. A previous domestic-violence charge, from an arrest in March 2007, has been dismissed. NFL spokesman Greg Aiello confirmed the league is looking into Marshall's latest arrest but had no further comment.

In the Roger Goodell era, players can't be content just to stay out of trouble with the legal system. Players can skate on the legal side but sometimes are subject to discipline from the league. Stay tuned as it doesn't look like Marshall is out of the woods just yet. ESPN.com's Bill Williamson is suggesting that Marshall could be suspended at least a game or two if he is convicted of the drunken driving charge which is set for September trial. He also could be suspended if he's convicted of this battery charge. At the very least, it's looking like Marshall is a pick you'd better think twice about.

NYG - Former Giant Strahan Suggests TE Shockey Should Go

Source: Neil Best, Newsday

Former New York Giants defensive end Michael Strahan spoke yesterday on the ongoing issue between the Giants and tight end Jeremy Shockey. "He doesn't want to play here; that's obvious with everything that's going on," Strahan told Newsday yesterday after being introduced as the newest cast member on "Fox NFL Sunday." Strahan added that "I don't think you gain much by keeping a guy around. Regardless of how well he plays for you, there's always that tension, and that's one thing you can't have if you're expected to go back and repeat. I think the best thing for them and for Shockey is if they have the opportunity, let him go."

[ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ OUR VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

Strahan who's never met a microphone he didn't like, wasted no time in making some waves as the new FOX guy. He's saying some of the same things we've been saying. Of course when someone with his credibility as a New York Giant says this, it's a different story. It appears the window to make a deal is closing there but you never know. I doubt Shockey is a guy that will be happy anywhere, but you'd have to think he'd be more happy somewhere else than New York.

BUF - Guilty Plea Expected Friday From Bills RB Lynch

Source: Gene Warner, Buffalo News

Buffalo Bills running back Marshawn Lynch is expected to plead guilty Friday to a traffic violation - which is not a criminal charge - for the hit-and- run accident involving his vehicle, law enforcement sources say. Authorities investigating the May 31 accident have discussed two possible traffic violations: failure to exercise due care to avoid striking a pedestrian or leaving the scene of a property-damage accident. Each of those violations carries a maximum penalty of $250 and 15 days in jail, but first-time offenders are all but assured of avoiding jail on such charges.

Hit and run of a pedestrian turns into a non criminal traffic violation. That's what high dollar legal representation can buy you.

NFL - Bob Papa To Reportedly Call Play By Play On NFL Network

Source: Neil Best, New York Newsday

Three people familiar with the situation said today that the NFL Network will hire Bob Papa as its new play-by-play man, replacing Bryant Gumbel, who had held the job for the previous two seasons.

[ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ OUR VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

This will be a good move for the NFL Network. It's a natural as Papa is already featured in the mornings on Sirius NFL Radio and does an excellent job calling the Giants games. Good move here.

GB - Packers K Crosby Getting Big Kicks In Camp

Source: Mike Spofford, Packers.com

In an impressive display during last week's mini-camp at the Don Hutson Center, Green Bay Packers kicker Mason Crosby drilled several long-range field goals with plenty of distance to spare. He hit a pair of 47-yard field goals with the ball sailing well above the top of the uprights as it went over the crossbar. And he hit a 52-yarder with the ball barely below the top of the uprights when clearing the crossbar. "I think it's a credit to the offseason program," Crosby said.

Crosby hit a 53 yarder last year so this isn't out of character for him. But he looks like he's taking what he did last season and building on it.

NYG - Details ON G Snee's Contract

Source: Mike Garafolo, NJ.com

Here are the details of the new six-year extension for Giants G Chris Snee, according to his agent, Noel LaMontagne of EAS Sports:

*Total value of $41.25 million without escalators. With escalators, the max value of the deal is $43.5 million.

*$13.5-million signing bonus.

*Base salary average of $6.875 million.

*$17 million guaranteed.

*$23 million in the first three years of the contract.

That's a nice signing bonus for Snee. It looks like the Giants were serious about locking him up and solidifying that offensive line. Good for Snee and good for the Giants.

MIA - Keyshawn Johnson 'Seriously' Considering Comeback

Source: Barry Jackson, Miami Herald

Keyshawn Johnson said he's still ''seriously'' considering a comeback but that never came up when he spoke to Bill Parcells last month.

[ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ OUR VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

I'm apparently one of a very few, but I like Keyshawn Johnson in the studio. But let's be real, that's where he needs to stay. On the field, Johnson was old and slow several years ago.

DEF - DET - Lions Rookie LB Dizon Unlikely To Be Suspended

Source: Detroit Free Press

Detroit Lions rookie linebacker Jordon Dizon was arrested six days before the NFL draft on suspicion of drunk driving, driving the wrong way on a one-way street and failure to provide insurance. Citing a police report, the newspaper said Dizon's blood-alcohol level was .097, above the legal limit of .08. He has pleaded not guilty to the charges. He is scheduled to appear in Boulder County Court on Aug. 18 and has a trial set for Oct. 21. It's unlikely that Dizon would warrant a suspension from the NFL based on a violation of the personal-conduct code since the arrest occurred before being drafted.

Looks like Dizon will dodge the proverbial bullet here as the incident happened before the draft. Let's hope he learned something.

STL - Way More Than You Want To Know About RB Jackson's Health Care

Source: Michael Silver, Yahoo Sports

Rams RB Steven Jackson recently talked about a new health care procedure:

"I had a colonic," Jackson said, referring to the trendy colon-cleansing therapy that is akin to an extended enema on steroids. "My girlfriend had the bright idea: 'Let's go get your system cleaned out.' It lasted about 45 minutes, and by the end, I (expletive) wanted to cry. Let's just say I got stabbed in the (rear) six times."

There's more if you're interested:

"I went in there and put on a hospital gown and lay there face up on a table with a hole underneath, and I was totally nervous.

"My hands were covered in sweat, and the (colon therapist) lady comes in and starts talking my ear off. There's this thin hose-type-thing that you put up there that shoots water into you and sucks everything out, but I had trouble getting it in, and then it kept coming out. The lady had to come back six different times and put it back in there. It was brutal."

Interjected Jackson's girlfriend: "Trust me, she didn't mind. I was having mine done in the next room, and she kept coming in to tell me how fine he was. I was like, 'Could you please stop hitting on my boyfriend while you're cleaning out my colon?' When we got done and he walked out to the waiting room, I said, 'Steven, are you OK?' He said, 'I don't want to talk about it.' I swear to God, he looked like a kid who'd been in there with R Kelly."

[ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ OUR VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

I'm not going near any of that...

We'll end with that one today, Folks. Have a great Thursday and we'll see you tomorrow with the update.
