Footballguys Magazine Is Shipping NOW
We still have copies left of the hot off the press 2008 Footballguys Strategy Guide Magazine. I'm biased of course but I think it's the best magazine out there. We keep the same philosophy with the magazine as we do our website - the focus is tons of information and analysis and less on shiny graphics or pretty pictures. We love the web and email of course. But there's something special about print still and we're exceptionally proud of this magazine. We think you will be too. It's slated to hit most newsstands next week so if you order online, you'll still beat your buddies as Priority Mail shipping is included in the pricing. Click on the link in the headline to see more details and to order.

CIN - WR Chad Johnson Says He'll Be In Cincinnati
Source: NFL Network
Chad Johnson was asked by Rich Eisen on NFL Network if he was dreaming of a big season and where that season would take place.
Johnson answered, "My big season is going to happen right here in Cincinnati. It's going to be a very scary year."[ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ OUR VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]
Johnson also said that he was up and walking around just days after his ankle surgery and that things were going fine there. He said he was "the fastest healer". The team expects him to be ready for training camp and it sounds like he's ready to go.
NYG - Giants G Snee Reportedly Gets Contract Extension
Source: Mike Garafolo, NJ.com
The Giants reportedly have agreed in principle with G Chris Snee to a six year contract extension that will keep him with the team until 2014. Financial terms were not disclosed, but it has been reported that Snee will be among the top five highest paid guards.

Assuming this is finalized, it's a great move by the Giants. Solidifying the offensive line is always a smart move and that looks to be the path New York is on here. It's also interesting that Snee is coach Tom Coughlin's son in law. That has to be fun...
OAK - Arrest Made In Walker Case
Source: Ken Ritter, Associated Press via San Francisco Chronicle
One man has been arrested and another man is being sought for the beating and robbery of Raiders WR Javon Walker. Police believe Walker went willingly with the two men who assaulted him.
Police said Arfat Fadel, of Las Vegas, was accused of multiple felonies, including kidnapping, robbery, battery and conspiracy in a June 16 robbery. Lt. Clinton Nichols said Walker lost about $3,000 in cash and $100,000 worth of jewelry in the robbery. The loot has not been recovered, he said. "Mr. Walker was in town to have a good time, as many of our visitors to Las Vegas do," Nichols said. "As he will readily admit, he probably had a little too much to drink and he did not pick up on the clues that Mr. Fadel was someone he probably should not have been with."[ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ OUR VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]
It'll be interesting to see how Walker's story about being knocked out in his room will reconcile with the video of him apparently willingly getting into the car with these guys. Stay tuned.
Lighter Leftwich Looking For Work
Source: Bob Cohn, Washington Times
Free agent QB Byron Leftwich has been working alongside former teammate RB Fred Taylor as well as RB Frank Gore, WR Plaxico Burress and WR Anquan Boldin at a training facility near Miami, but only Leftwich is without a job. He's knocked off 25 pounds and is looking for work, although his injury history is a concern for most teams. "I just look at it as bad luck," Leftwich said. "I've had some good things happen to me, and I've had some bad things happen to me." He insists he has been "completely healthy" for several months. "I just want to have the opportunity. Just give me the opportunity, and we'll go from there," he said.

It's been a quick fall for Byron Leftwich. This time last year he was the Jaguars starting QB. Coach Jack Del Rio surprised the world by naming David Garrard the starter late in the summer and it's been a struggle for Leftwich ever since. He can still play and I'm surprised he hasn't latched on already with a team. Especially if he's more mobile now after shedding some weight.
SF - TE Davis Thinking Like A Receiver
Source: Matthew Barrows, Sacramento Bee
49ers OC Mike Martz said TE Vernon Davis was his hardest working receiver this spring as he typically would arrive early and leave late every practice. Davis should get plenty of chances to showcase his abilities in Martz's offense which now requires tight ends to line up as receivers. "I don't know if anyone in the league can run like he can at that position," Martz said of Davis. "He gets down the field so fast. I don't know who beats him in a footrace." Davis has been studying old Rams footage of receivers Issac Bruce and Torry Holt to learn how to polish his routes. "Instead of breaking down and head-faking and doing all these things, we're going to use his speed," Martz said. "And I think he understands that really well at this point."
[ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ OUR VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]
If Mike Martz is the mad scientist in the lab, Vernon Davis is his monster creation. With WR speed but TE size, he's a scary combination. We told you yesterday that it wouldn't surprise us to see backup TE Delanie Walker do well but Davis is the guy they want to fulfill his potential and earn that draft spot. If there's a guy that can get him the opportunities, it's Mike Martz.
DEF - DAL - DB Jones Makes Good Impression With Cowboys
Source: Tom Orsborn, MySA.com
DB Adam Jones, formerly known as Pac Man, is making a good first impression with many in the Dallas Cowboys organization. His behavior is still in doubt by some, but his competitive spirit is not. "I thought he was a competitor, but he is an extraordinary competitor," coach Wade Phillips said. "He really likes to mix it up out there and be a make-every-play kind of guy."Tom Orsborn, MySA.com

So far so good. Jones' on field activity isn't the worry here though. He had a tough time staying out of trouble when he lived in Nashville. I'm worried how he'll fare in Dallas...
DEF - TEN - DT Haynesworth Confident About New Deal
Source: Paul Kuharsky, ESPN.com
Tennessee Titans DT Albert Haynesworth feels optimistic about a signing a new deal before training camp begins. The two sides have until July 15th to reach a new deal, otherwise they can not negotiate until after the upcoming season. Haynesworth has yet to sign his franchise player tender.
[ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ OUR VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]
Haynesworth says he wants to be in camp.
"It's going to be key for me to be there and to work out," he said. "Hopefully all this stuff works out. I've always said I wanted to be a Titan, that hasn't changed. That's what we are looking for." But he said that the negotiations are up to his agent: "That's his job. I'm just a football player," he said. "I don't know how it works here [at this stage]. This is the first time other than my rookie contract and I hadn't the slightest clue what was going on then and right now it's the same thing. I'm working out, I'm going to play football this fall and whatever happens, happens." Be in camp. Focus on Football while your agent does what he knows how to do. Sounds like a pretty good plan.DEF - DAL - CB Jones Praying For Don Imus
Source: Calvin Watkins, Dallas Morning News
Radio host Don Imus made some controversial comments regarding Dallas cornerback Adam Jones and Jones was not happy.
"I'm truly upset about the comments," Jones said. "Obviously Mr. Imus has problems with African-Americans. I'm upset, and I hope the station he works for handles it accordingly. I will pray for him."[ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ OUR VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]
No real fantasy news there. Just thought you'd enjoy the quote.
That'll do it for today, Folks. Have a great Wednesday and we'll see you tomorrow with the update.
