CIN - WRs Henry And McNeil Cleared In Assault Case
Source: Jim Hannah, Cincinnati Enquirer
Bengals WRs Chris Henry and Reggie McNeal were cleared Friday of any involvement in a roadside assault that left a teenage boy with a black eye last week. Investigators have identified two 21-year-old Florence residents as suspects. Police Capt. Linny Cloyd refused to release the suspects' names. The Bengals had little to say about the matter Friday.

Good news for Henry, McNeal and the Bengals.
TEN - Titans Want RB Chris Brown Now
Source: Jessica Hopp, Tennessean
The Tennessee Titans continued their efforts to sign free-agent running back Chris Brown on Friday. Titans GM Mike Reinfeldt would like to see Brown signed by Tuesday when the team begins its final 3-day minicamp. "It would behoove both sides to have it done before then," Reinfeldt said. "I think this is the best place for him, hopefully he will see it that way, too." The minicamp concludes Thursday and the Titans won't regroup until training camp in late July.

Translation for what Rienfeldt said: "What were we thinking to head into this season pinning our RB hopes on LenDale White?"
It's reportedly between Chicago and Tennessee. Both teams are planning to go with unproven young starters. Brown would be a value to both teams but more to Tennessee.NYG - RB Droughns May See Time At FB
Source: Tom Canavan, Associated Press
With FB Jim Finn out for the season, the Giants are trying free agent Robert Douglas at fullback. RB Reuben Droughns could be used at fullback in some scenarios, even though he doesn't like the position. If neither scenario works out and the Giants can't sign a fullback, they would be forced to either use two tight ends or play TE Mike Matthews, a good blocker, as an H-back.

It was bad enough that the Giants are without retired RB Tiki Barber and now they lose their FB in Finn. At least they'll have all of training camp to figure it out.
NYG - OC Gilbride Worried And Looking For Answers
Source: Associated Press
Giants OC Kevin Gilbride had a lot of concerns Friday as the Giants wrapped up minicamp. "Our best 11, does it have a fullback, a tight end and two wide outs, or does it have three wide outs, or two tight ends? I don't know," Gilbride said. When asked about WRs Burress and Toomer missing practices while nursing injuries, Gilbride said, "I am definitely worried, no question. They have been in the meetings for the most part and been exposed to some of the changes, but listening and doing are two different things." Gibride's biggest concern is whether RB Brandon Jacobs can remain healthy with his pounding running style.

"I am definitely worried, no question" isn't usually what you want to hear from your offensive coordinator. But he's just being realistic. The good news is that he's not saying that in September. At least not yet. The team still has time to iron things out and find some answers. But there are definitely some big questions.
NYJ - QB Pennington Looking Sharp
Source: Eric Allen, NewYorkJets.com
Jets QB Chad Pennington has looked very sharp in minicamp. He has been working the entire off-season on body strength, flexibility and his familiarity with the Jets’ offensive system. "He had a really good off-season not just in terms of what he’s done here at OTAs but the work he’s done in the weight room and on his body and being able to really focus on that," HC Eric Mangini said. "On the field you can see him drawing on the experiences of last year, him taking things and advancing the system — not just from his position but collectively."
[ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ OUR VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]
This time last year, we were all speculating about who would finish the season as the Jets quarterback. With Chad Pennington rehabbing from another shoulder injury last year, he was very much a question mark. But all he did was go out and lead the Jets to a very respectable season surprising lots of people with how well he played. This year, he's building on a nice season with a very productive offseason and looks to be picking up right where he left off in 2006. And with the addition of running back Thomas Jones, the offense is looking even better.
SF - Rookie OT Staley Working With 1st Team
Source: Dennis Georgatos, San Jose Mercury News
With 49er's RT Kwame Harris sidelined by a back injury, rookie OT Joe Staley is working with the first-team at right tackle. HC Mike Nolan has said that Harris is expected to get some pain-killing injections and could be back for the final four workouts, setting up a training-camp competition between Harris and Staley for the starting job. "It doesn't help Kwame that he got nicked, but at the same time it's helped Staley get more reps," Nolan said.

Another training camp battle we'll be watching for you.

The Packers released RB Arliss Beach on Friday. Beach spent last season on injured reserve after signing with the team as a non-drafted free agent on May 5, 2006.

For all you guys pinning your RB hopes on Beach this year, time for plan B...
WAS - RB Portis Gets Some Work
Source: Gary Fitzgerald, Redskins.com
Redskins RB Clinton Portis, still nursing knee tendonitis and a shoulder injury, was able to participate in some drills and team work during Redskins mini-camp on Friday. He started the practice running sprints on the sidelines, then asked coaches if he could increase his workload. Portis ended up getting a handful of carries during the 11-on-11 drills. "Clinton did a lot more today--I think he's close now," said HC Joe Gibbs. Portis said after practice that his knee held up well during Friday's practice and his shoulder is close to fully healed.

Outstanding news for those of us (myself included) that were worried about Portis. He looked pretty good working in practice and looks to be on schedule. The team will be counting on him to give some security to their young QB in Jason Campbell.
PHI - QB McNabb Ahead Of Schedule
Source: Associated Press
Eagles QB Donovan McNabb completed his first week of practice, working in non-contact and team passing drills during the final minicamp. McNabb wasn't expected to do more than individual drills at this point. "He looks very good, has worked very hard to get himself to this position and is progressing a little bit ahead of schedule of what we anticipated," HC Andy Reid said. McNabb felt no swelling nor discomfort in his knee while working with the team and spent virtually the entire final day on the field.
[ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ OUR VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]
McNabb owners and Eagles fans can breathe a sigh of relief. McNabb looked very good in workouts and appears to be ahead of schedule. So far so good.
DAL - QB Romo - Extention Talk
Source: Len Pasquarelli, ESPN.com
It's clear Tony Romo would prefer to solidify his future. And the Cowboys, who have no viable alternatives, appear willing to cast their lot with the four-year veteran. He is the quarterback the Cowboys groomed for the future. But the future is now, and it's time to pay the guy who will probably be the Dallas starter for the next several years.
"I'd definitely like [an extension] before the season begins, but you never know how things will go," Romo told the Dallas Morning News this week. "I know the Jones family. They knew me. We'll come to a conclusion."[ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ OUR VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]
As Pasquarelli says, the Cowboys don't have a lot of alternatives. Brad Johnson isn't it. And it's not like one of the QBs they could draft next year are all that appealing. It looks like Romo is their guy.
DEF - STL - Rams Looking To Solidify D-Line
Source: Bill Coats, St. Louis Post-Dispatch
When the Rams traded NT Jimmy Kennedy to Denver for a sixth-round draft pick, a job became open behind Rams' first-round pick, DT Adam Carriker. Rookie Clifton Ryan, a fifth round pick, and Keith Jackson will compete for the spot. The Rams are also expected to seek another veteran defensive lineman through free agency or trade.
[ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ OUR VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]
Trading Kennedy who was the 12th overall pick in the 2003 had to be a tough decision. He never developed into the player they thought he would so it became time to regroup and cut their losses. Now they can start filling the holes and solidifying the line.
That'll do it for today, Folks. Have a great Fathers Day and we'll see you tomorrow with the update.
