Chris Smith bio

Occupation: Lead Hand, Footballguys Staff

College: MTI - Computer Sign-Writing/Graphic Arts; Certificates in Web Design

Birthplace: Vancouver

Current location: Surrey

Family: Married and been with the same women for 14 years now. Have three kids in total. Two girls aged 11 and 8 and a baby boy who is 10 months old.

Favorite NFL team: Miami Dolphins

Favorite thing about fantasy football: Love it all but the best part is preparing for the draft and the draft itself.

If I was Paul Tagliabue for a day...: I'd put in a rule where you aren't allowed to tackle the quarterback and you must pull a flag from his belt to stop the play dead. Oh wait, that is already coming with all the rules to protect the quarterback. I'd abolish those rules and let the defensive linemen hit the quarterback when the balls in his hand whether it is at his knees or above his chest. Listening to Deacon Jones on convinced me that players were tougher in his day. Bring back the era of tough guys.

Also I would have some sort of flexible schedule if possible to showcase games that aren't 'dogs' on Monday Night Football. Finally I would expand to Canada and in particular British Columbia so I can have a team of my own to cheer for.

Brush with greatness: I got to meet Joe and David in Vegas. That was like meeting Bill Clinton, Metallica and Joe Montana all on the same night.

Favorite Movie(s): Too many to list really. Some of the more obscure ones include (1) Clockwork Orange; (2) The Seven Samurai and (3) Requiem for a Dream. The mainstream ones include Pulp Fiction, Goodfellas, Gladiator, Braveheart, Minority Report, Godfather saga, The Longest Yard (70s version), American Pie and Moulin Rouge but I could name 100 more easily.

Favorite CD(s)/album(s): I love tons of different CDs. Favorite artists include Metallica, Green Day, old Aerosmith, Guns N' Roses, System of the Down and Nirvana

Biggest vice: Can't live without Coffee (even more so than beer right now - I must be getting old).

Pet peeve: People who drive 20 miles under the speed limit in the fast lane.

Quote: A man may die, nations may rise and fall, but an idea lives on. - John F. Kennedy (1917-1963)

Football isn't a contact sport, it's a collision sport. Dancing is a contact sport - Duffy Daugherty

A man can be as great as he wants to be. If you believe in yourself and have the courage, the determination, the dedication, the competitive drive and if you are willing to sacrifice the little things in life and pay the price for the things that are worthwhile, it can be done. - Vince Lombardi

If it doesn't matter who wins or loses, then why do they keep score? - also Vince Lombardi

Hobbies: Fantasy Football (of course) Working out Reading Writing Sudoku

Dream car: With three kids, I'll say the Cadillac Escalade. Also love the newer Thunderbird

Favorite TV Show: Not including sports, I must say that I have been a Survivor fan since the first season and still watch it today. Also love 'The Office' and 'Earl' has been growing on me.

Guilty pleasure TV Show: America's Next Top Model. Now it is officially the wifey and kids that watch that show each week. It's not my fault I am there at the same time to watch those fine, young ladies parade around my screen

If you could have one super power, what would it be?: Although, X-Ray vision would be cool at times, I would love the ability to freeze time. As a parent, you never stop battling the hands on the clock and their unwavering ticking away of the day.

Favorite NFL Player (all-time): For me, this is easy. While I loved watching Dan Marino, Zach Thomas and Walter Payton play the game, Mike Singletary was my idol growing up. I played linebacker for ten years and from the first moment I watched him play, I sought to play the same way and with the same intensity that he did. He was unforgettable.
