*** Thursday Update *** QB Kelly Holcomb (BUF) did not practice on Thursday. The team will likely make a call on their starting QB Friday or Saturday. Although remember Mike Mularkey waited until almost kickoff to announce Holcomb as the starter the first week he replaced J.P. Losman.

*** Wednesday Update *** QB Jeff Garcia (DET) practiced on Wednesday and will start in week 11 if he is physically able to play. "I haven't completely ruled myself out - not at all," Garcia said. "I felt like today was definitely a step in the right direction as far as feeling better out on the field, being able to move more naturally, not as much hesitancy, not as much pain and discomfort. So it was a better day today." HC Steve Mariucci will likely wait until the end of the week to name a starter.

*** Friday Update *** QB Joey Harrington (DET) will likely start for the team this weekend in place of the still-injured Jeff Garcia, but HC Steve Mariucci is not ready to make an official announcement. "Jeff was a little bit better but he's not all the way back," said Mariucci, who refused to name an official starter. "Not today. I just don't want to yet." Harrington has taken the majority of snaps in practice this week and says he will continue to prepare like he's starting. "That's the general feeling. When you take most of the snaps, that's usually the way it's leaning," Harrington said. "Of course, I'd like to (start) but there's no indication so we'll just roll with it."

*** Thursday Update *** QB Joey Harrington (DET) looks like he'll start again this week as Jeff Garcia isn't healthy enough to play. Coach Steve Mariucci will likely hold off as long as possible in naming a starter but it's look like Harrington as of Thursday night.

QB Joey Harrington (DET) could remain the Lions' starting quarterback by default. Jeff Garcia has not lost his status as the starting quarterback and will start Sunday's game at Dallas if his injured left leg is healthy enough, HC Steve Mariucci said. Garcia did not sound hopeful Monday about being healthy enough to play this Sunday.

*** Friday Update *** QB Gus Frerotte (MIA) practiced some but was limited on Friday. He will be a game-time decision for week 11, but it looks like he’ll be able to go. "We feel like he probably could play in the game, based on what he did today," Saban said. However, Saban declined to say which quarterback will start, hoping to create some doubt for the Cleveland Browns. "If you had a gun, put it to my head and you say, 'I'm going to shoot you if you don't tell me,' I probably would tell you," Saban said. "But absent the gun, I just said what I am going to say, because if I tell you I tell everybody." Sage Rosenfels will start if Frerotte can not go.

*** Thursday Update *** QB Gus Frerotte (MIA) missed practice with the team but was able to throw some. "Gus is making good improvement," coach Nick Saban said. "He is able to grip the ball and toss it some today. He will take a few snaps (Friday) and see where he is at." Sage Rosenfels worked with the first team.

*** Wednesday Update *** QB Gus Frerotte (MIA) may play in Sunday's game at Cleveland after all. While backup quarterback Sage Rosenfels took most of the reps during Wednesday's practice, Frerotte sounded optimistic in talking about his chances of playing. "It's a lot better," said Frerotte, who sprained his right index finger against New England. "I played long enough in this league to know that missing one day is not a big deal. Today is not Sunday. I'm not making it worse."

QB Mike McMahon (PHI) would likely get the start if Donovan McNabb can't go Sunday. He's an athletic player that scrambles and has a strong arm.

*** Thursday Update *** QB Donovan McNabb (PHI) should have surgery now according to Dr. William Meyers who examined the McNabb’s sports hernia. There is no word from McNabb or the Eagles on their decision, but McNabb is said to be looking for ways to manage the injury for the remainder of the season. However, he may finally be succumbing to the realization that surgery is needed. "I'm not really in a hurry to get under the knife and have surgery," McNabb said. "But sometimes you hear so many times that it may be time to get it done."

*** Wednesday Update *** QB Donovan McNabb (PHI) will not start in week 11. His status beyond this week is uncertain. "He's not moving around very well," HC Andy Reid said. McNabb will see a specialist Thursday, and his status for the remainder of the season will likely be determined during or soon after the visit.
